Jiang Li first appears in Nuoding City as a remarkably young Soul Saint wielding Blue Silver Grass. After decisively defeating Yu Xiaogang, he accepts Tang San as his disciple when Tang San performs the formal kowtow and invokes the principle that a teacher for a day is a father for life. Jiang Li promises to cultivate Tang San into a peerless expert. 3

He guides Tang San's Blue Silver Grass cultivation toward metallization and life-based development rather than treating it as a worthless martial soul. He also instructs Tang San to conceal his Clear Sky Hammer and never attach rings to it without permission, recognizing the danger posed by Tang San's Twin Martial Souls. 5 6
