First Appearance Chapter 7 — Tang San resolves to establish the Tang Sect in this world 7

History

Tang San first conceives of founding a Tang Sect after realizing that its techniques could then be legitimately passed to Jiang Li as its Supreme Elder. He also gives Jiang Li a Zhuge Crossbow he personally forged, establishing hidden weapons as part of the sect's future foundation 7.

Jiang Li identifies the Strength Clan—whose members excel at forging—as an ideal base for Tang San's future force. Titan recognizes Tang San as the new master of the clan, while Jiang Li plans to eventually unite the Break, Defense, and Speed Clans under Tang San once he is older 34 36.

The sect becomes a formal independent organization when the Speed Clan, Breaking Clan, Strength Clan, and later Defense Clan unite. Tang San explicitly rejects vassalage to any power, particularly the Clear Sky Sect, and promises the former single-attribute clans autonomy, authority, and equal standing rather than the servant status they previously endured 69 72 77.

The Clear Sky Sect repeatedly attempts to absorb the Tang Sect, claiming ownership over the four clans and Tang San's lineage. Tang San refuses to submit, while Dugu Bo and the sect's elders repel Clear Sky Sect envoys after Titan is killed at the Tang Sect's gate. The confrontation establishes the Tang Sect as a force capable of opposing its former overlord 80 96 97 99.

Following its rise, the Tang Sect incorporates the Nine Heart Begonia Family, the Three Element Academies, and numerous high-level soul masters. Its influence expands through cultivation resources, hidden-weapon trade, an academy system, and military cooperation with Heaven Dou 96 158 190 374.

After the war against the Spirit Hall Empire, the sect's main headquarters is rebuilt upon the ruins of Spirit City. Sea God Island becomes its central holy land, while the former tournament plaza serves as a sacred headquarters and site of divine statues 382 390.

Story Role

Conflict with the Clear Sky Sect

The Tang Sect's earliest defining conflict is its rejection of Clear Sky Sect control. The Clear Sky Sect considers the four single-attribute clans to be permanent servants and attempts to seize the Tang Sect's members, assets, soul bones, and cultivation methods 87 89 115.

Titan's death during the Clear Sky Sect's attack becomes a rallying point for the sect. Tang San vows to make the Clear Sky Sect repay the blood debt, while the Tang Sect's newly revealed Title Douluo foundation gives its members confidence to resist 96 99.

Rise to Continental Power

The Tang Sect grows through high-level elders, immortal herbs, soul bones, martial-soul evolution, academy recruitment, and hidden-weapon commerce. By the time of its arms deal with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fengzhi regards it as a colossal force with Jiang Li, Dugu Bo, Yang Wudi, Tang San, Dugu Yan, and other outstanding members 158.

Its reputation spreads further after Tang San's performance in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, where the sect's prestige becomes known throughout the continent 242.

War Against the Spirit Hall Empire

Tang San mobilizes the Tang Sect when the Spirit Hall Empire gathers forces at Jialing Pass. The sect assigns halls to logistics, medicine, security, and frontline combat, while its Title Douluo and academy combatants deploy with the army 374.

The Heaven Dou army marches under Tang Sect leadership, using the sect's strategies and support to overwhelm the Spirit Hall Empire's defenses at Jialing Pass 375 378.

Postwar Legacy

After the continent is united, the Tang Sect becomes a central institution for Soul Masters. Its holy lands, divine-trial access, cultivation methods, Soul Tool education, and Hall of Heroes make membership a major path for talented young soul masters 382 388.

When Tang San and Jiang Li ascend, Bai He and Dugu Bo remain behind to protect the sect's mortal foundation. Tang San promises divine opportunities to meritorious descendants of the Defense and Breaking Clans 390.

Ten-Thousand-Year Decline and Reform

Ten thousand years later, Tang Ya and Beibei lead a weakened Tang Sect whose inherited Blue Silver Grass cultivation path has been distorted by Yu Xiaogang's theories. Tang San, using the identity Jiang Chuan, reveals that plant-type Blue Silver Grass should have cultivated through life-rich plant soul rings to preserve its potential to evolve into the Blue Silver Emperor 399 435.

He begins correcting Tang Ya's path by providing immortal-herb essence and directing her toward Ice and Fire Golden Body Refinement, with the eventual goal of making her a Blue Silver Emperor 435.
