Background and History
Beerus had risen from obscurity to become a god under Whis’s guidance. After gaining the title of God of Destruction, he largely stopped training and spent long periods sleeping. His first battle with Baros restores the ambition he remembers from his earlier cultivation 321 329.
Beerus initially holds back against Baros, then uses his full strength rather than accept defeat by a Saiyan. Their prolonged fight leaves the result undecided and gives Beerus a rival he wants to defeat outright 314 319 330. When Baros returns, Beerus questions whether he can win and agrees to fight him again after eight years. He spends the interval cultivating in dangerous Spacetime Turbulence 546 547 1054.
His comprehension of the Destruction Law draws the attention of the other Gods of Destruction, but the returning Beerus learns that Baros has advanced far beyond him. He nevertheless accepts that their pact must be faced. Their eventual rematch is fought against an avatar Baros formed from a drop of blood 1256 1284 1285 1400 1405.
Parallel-spacetime counterpart
A Beerus in another Universe 7 also appears. Beerus begins as proud, quick-tempered, and accustomed to looking down on opponents. Baros’s strength first excites him, then forces him to acknowledge his own complacency. His decision to train in Spacetime Turbulence marks a sustained change from the laziness Whis knew 307 314 329 1054.
His pride does not prevent caution. He asks Whis about Baros’s chances against him, later fears the scale of Baros’s growth, and still resolves to honor their agreement.
