Bulma Was Kidnapped

For the next three months, Sun Yu and Lana stayed at Kami's Lookout to train.

Under Sun Yu's guidance, Lana's mastery of ki also reached the Micro-Perception stage. Once she entered that stage, her battle power soared, and she was on the verge of breaking ten thousand. Sun Yu, meanwhile, had been focused on understanding the deeper principles of martial arts, so his battle power was temporarily lower, still hovering around seven or eight thousand.

But how could strength be measured by battle power alone?

Of everyone at Kami's Lookout, Lana was the only one who didn't know that Sun Yu was already stronger than she was—and that was without even counting the help his Sharingan gave him in battle!

In the Dragon Ball world, a vast difference in battle power could overwhelm any martial arts skill. But when two fighters had similar battle power, their level of martial arts mastery could make all the difference.

Later, believing she had been ahead all along, Lana decided to use one of her chances to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber so she could break ten thousand battle power sooner and leave Sun Yu in the dust.

"There's no need to waste this chance so soon. You're not even an adult yet, and your battle power hasn't fully developed. Even if you had a whole year, you wouldn't improve that much! Everything has to be done step by step!"

That was how Sun Yu tried to talk Lana out of it, but the girl wouldn't listen. Her explosive growth in battle power over the past three months had gone straight to her head! Especially her chest... Ahem. Anyway, all Lana could think about now was breaking ten thousand, then going to Planet Vegeta to become its new queen! She even said that once she was queen, she might consider making Sun Yu a little prince. Sun Yu found the whole thing rather awkward!

Just after Lana entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the Guardian told Sun Yu something strange.

"Sun Yu, over the past two days, a lot of patrol planes have appeared near the Lookout. They seem to be searching for something! But there's a gravitational barrier around the Lookout, so they can't find us."

At the mention of a search, Sun Yu immediately thought of the Dragon Ball on him. Could it be the Red Ribbon Army? It was certainly possible. He had killed General Blue of the Red Ribbon Army's Blue Team, so he had made an enemy of them. And since he had a Dragon Ball, it made sense that the Red Ribbon Army would send troops after him.

"No!" The Guardian immediately dismissed Sun Yu's guess. "Those planes don't bear the Red Ribbon Army's insignia. Their insignia says... Capsule Corp!"

"Oh?" Sun Yu looked surprised at the mention of Capsule Corp. Why would Dr. Briefs send planes all the way here? Even if he wanted to tell Sun Yu that the Gravity Training Room was ready, there was no need to make such a big fuss. Something was clearly wrong!

"So it's Capsule Corp. Guardian, I think they're probably looking for me. I'll go see what they want!"

"Mm. Be careful."

After saying goodbye to the Guardian, Sun Yu quickly flew beyond the Lookout's field and headed for the nearest plane.

The pilots of the patrol planes circling near Korin Sacred Land suddenly noticed that the radar coordinates their boss had shared with them were moving at high speed. They immediately began reporting their findings to him.

"Reporting, boss. The target's position has changed. Repeat, the target's position has changed! Current coordinates: east..., latitude 48..."

"Reporting, boss. The target's position has changed again. Repeat, the target's position has changed again. Current coordinates are..."

"Reporting, boss..."

Dr. Briefs, the president of Capsule Corp, received one report after another from his subordinates. With a snap, he switched off all the communications equipment, then quietly watched a figure approaching in the distance.

As Sun Yu drew near the plane, he spotted Dr. Briefs inside through the cockpit window and called out, "Hey, Doctor! It's really you! What brings you to Korin Sacred Land?"

The side hatch of the plane opened, and Dr. Briefs waved him over. "Mr. Sun, come inside. We need to talk."

"Sure."

Sun Yu flew into Dr. Briefs's plane. Once inside, he saw that Dr. Briefs looked much more haggard than before. His already thin frame seemed even more frail.

"Mr... Mr. Sun, I'm at my wit's end. It's all my fault. I... I..."

Seeing Dr. Briefs on the verge of breaking down, Sun Yu's heart tightened. He stepped forward and gripped Dr. Briefs by the shoulders, reassuring him, "Doctor, just tell me what happened. If there's anything I can do to help, you only have to ask!"

After hearing Sun Yu's words, Dr. Briefs finally explained what had happened.

It turned out that after learning about the Dragon Balls, Commander Black of the Red Ribbon Army had thrown everything into searching for them. With Dr. Gero's help, they had invented the Dragon Radar, and in that time, they had actually found two Dragon Balls.

Then Commander Black discovered, to his dismay, that the remaining five Dragon Balls had all gathered in one place. He soon thought of the two young people Dr. Briefs had mentioned while drunk that day. According to the surviving members of the Blue Team, which Sun Yu had wiped out, Sun Yu was extremely powerful. So Commander Red came up with a rotten plan. He had heard that Sun Yu was close to Capsule Corporation, so he kidnapped Bulma, hoping to force Sun Yu to hand over the remaining five Dragon Balls.

"Mr. Sun, it's all because I let something slip while I was drunk..." Dr. Briefs's voice caught in his throat. "They said that if we don't hand over the Dragon Balls within three days, they'll kill her! Poor little Bulma..."

Although Dr. Briefs would one day become the richest man in the world, his business was still growing at this point. He had no way to stand up to the Red Ribbon Army, which already had a massive military force. After turning it over in his mind, he had finally decided to seek help from Sun Yu, an extraordinarily powerful young man.

"Those bastards! They're asking for it, daring to lay a hand on Bulma!"

A dragon's scales were not to be touched without facing death. It was too early to say that Bulma was Sun Yu's one weakness, but there was no denying how much he cared about her safety!

Surely, like Sun Yu, many people had Bulma as their favorite female character in the Dragon Ball anime. That lively, beautiful girl was the dream woman of countless fans. Sun Yu had been delighted from the moment he saw Bulma after crossing into this world, and he had been looking forward to watching her grow up...

And yet the Red Ribbon Army had dared to kidnap Bulma! Sun Yu sentenced every last one of them to death in his mind. After finding out where the Red Ribbon Army was, he left Dr. Briefs with a promise: "Don't worry. I'll bring Bulma back safe and sound." Then he smashed through the wall with a roar and flew off.

Sun Yu flew through the air with a cold smile, silently swearing that if the Red Ribbon Army so much as harmed a hair on Bulma's head, he would grind their entire army to dust to vent his fury!

Even if Bulma were killed, the Dragon Balls might be able to bring her back. But Sun Yu didn't want her to have to face death so early. If he could help it, he wanted her to live the rest of her life under his protection.

Just as Bulma in the original story would think, whenever she faced a major crisis, If only Goku were here, Sun Yu hoped that whether the Earth was destroyed or Majin Buu threatened to slaughter all of humanity, Bulma would still be able to smile and think:

"With Sun Yu here, everything will be all right!"
