The Wolf-Man

Lana happened to walk in and see Bulma cheering excitedly, so she asked, "What's got you so happy, Bulma?"

Bulma looked at Lana and said sweetly, "Big Brother Sun Yu said he'd take me shopping! Why don't you come with us, Big Sister Lana?"

"Shopping?" Lana murmured, then turned to Sun Yu with displeasure. "Kael, you haven't even gotten used to a hundred times gravity yet, and you're already thinking of slacking off?"

Lana had been looking forward to Sun Yu adapting to a hundred times gravity so they could return to Planet Vegeta in triumph, arriving as the strong. She'd always had her eye on the throne of Planet Vegeta!

But Sun Yu wasn't worried that Lana would actually get angry. There were two things in this world Lana could never turn down: the first was good food, and the second was shopping!

It was easy enough to understand. Shopping was practically an innate talent shared by women across the universe; there wasn't a single female creature who didn't love it. Of course, as a female Saiyan from a warrior race, Lana had initially been very averse to the dull business of shopping. But when Mrs. Briefs took her into the East City Grand Department Store, Lana was stunned by the dazzling array of goods.

She was especially amazed when she witnessed Mrs. Briefs's almost supernatural haggling skills. Who knew buying things could give you such a strong sense of victory in battle? And so, you could see a rich lady whose family was wealthier than kingdoms, and a Saiyan powerful enough to rob the biggest bank in the universe without any trouble, haggling furiously with a shopkeeper over a jacket worth less than a dollar. The sight was enough to shatter anyone's worldview!

"Lana, I heard the East City Grand Department Store is having an anniversary sale. Everything's half price!" Sun Yu winked at Lana, dropping a bombshell.

"H-Half price!" Lana stared blankly at Sun Yu. In the next instant, she vanished in a flash. By the time she reappeared, her training clothes were gone, replaced by a stylish, well-fitting outfit.

"Damn, that was fast!" Sun Yu scratched his head, marveling. Sure enough, discounts were even more appealing to women than getting things for free.

"Haha, Big Brother Sun Yu, hurry and change too. Big Sister Lana and I will wait for you in the lobby." Bulma covered her mouth as she giggled and pushed Sun Yu toward the changing room.

"All right..." Sun Yu quickly washed off his sweat and changed into a clean T-shirt.

To fully adapt to life on Earth, Sun Yu and Lana usually traveled in the Briefs family's plane. Once they arrived at the mall, Bulma took Sun Yu by one hand and Lana by the other. The three of them looked as happy and sweet as a family of three.

The mall was packed. As soon as they entered, the hubbub hit them. A broad avenue wide enough for ten burly men to stand shoulder to shoulder connected shops of all sizes stretching hundreds of meters. Looking up, they saw crowds filling all seven floors, with people coming and going without end.

Many of the shops on the first floor sold clothes, alongside stalls offering local snacks. All kinds of people streamed along the street, and the calls of vendors, shouts, and haggling rose and fell. To pass the time, Sun Yu bought a big pile of snacks and ate as he walked. If the distinctive animal-people of Dragon Ball Earth hadn't been around, he might have thought he'd somehow returned to his old Earth.

"Ow!" Bulma, who'd been running ahead, cried out softly.

Sun Yu was still enjoying the food in his hand and leisurely looking at the shops around him. Hearing Bulma's cry, he looked up and saw her sitting on the ground, her shopping bags scattered everywhere and a miserable look on her face.

Not far in front of Bulma, a hulking wolf-man was gnawing on a beef leg. He staggered as he walked, making no effort to avoid the crowd ahead.

Sun Yu helped Bulma up and took her to Lana's side. Then he shifted his feet and appeared behind the wolf-man, reaching out with his right hand to grab his shoulder.

The wolf-man froze under Sun Yu's hand, then angrily turned around. To his surprise, there was no one behind him!

"Ahem..." Sun Yu flushed and cleared his throat. Only then did the wolf-man notice him, standing half a head shorter.

It wasn't that Sun Yu was short; the guy was just ridiculously tall. The hulking wolf-man stood at least two and a half meters tall, and Sun Yu had to raise his hand just to reach his shoulder.

The wolf-man glanced down at Sun Yu, tore a chunk from the beef leg in his hand, and asked as he chewed, "You little runt, looking to get yourself killed?"

Sun Yu pointed at Bulma, her eyes brimming with tears, and said coldly, "You knocked into my sister and now you're just walking away without a word?"

"You're not actually expecting me to apologize, are you?" The wolf-man stared at Sun Yu with a strange expression, as if he'd just heard something hilarious.

Bulma looked at Sun Yu with concern, wanting him to let it go. She wasn't hurt, after all; she'd only fallen down. But Lana stopped her. The wolf-man might be huge, but that didn't mean he was strong.

"An apology would be best. I'm pretty easygoing. If you're sincere about it, I might even forgive you." Bulma was Sun Yu's one sore spot. If some fool dared mistreat her, Sun Yu didn't mind showing him exactly why the flowers were red!

The wolf-man's eyes widened, as though he'd heard the funniest joke ever. He barely managed to hold back his laughter, then said in a quavering voice, "You want me to apologize? Hahaha... I'm sorry, but while you may be easygoing, I'm not! I'll count to three. If you don't get lost, don't blame me for what happens next!"

By now, quite a few people had gathered around. They pushed closer to watch the spectacle. The two figures made such a striking contrast that everyone was taken aback: one stood two and a half meters tall, while the other was only around one point seven. No one thought there was any suspense about how this clash would end, and they all looked at Sun Yu with sympathy.

Sun Yu felt that it would be embarrassing for a Saiyan like him to pick on an ordinary Earthling. But this fool had bullied Bulma, so Sun Yu couldn't worry about that anymore.

The crowd around them was already murmuring. Seeing that Sun Yu didn't seem inclined to leave, the wolf-man grinned viciously. "Heh, you really don't know your place. Looks like I'll have to teach you a lesson today so you learn how big the world is!"

With that, the wolf-man tossed the half-eaten beef leg high into the air, then clenched both fists and swung them at Sun Yu's stomach like a baseball bat. The muscles bulging across his body made everyone watching gasp.

Sun Yu had initially watched the wolf-man's attack with an easy smile. But when those massive fists struck his stomach, his eyes suddenly narrowed. With a loud "Boom!" the wolf-man's punch sent him staggering back four steps. He stared at his opponent in disbelief.

Lana watched Sun Yu stumble back in surprise, then asked, "Kael, what kind of act are you putting on?"

After all, even without the Weighted Gear, Sun Yu's battle power was as high as 95,000. With that kind of power, not even an ordinary Earthling—or a missile—could hurt him!

Sun Yu didn't care what Lana thought. He knew his own situation, and there was no way that blow could have come from any Earth creature!

There was something wrong with this guy!
