The Mangekyō Opens!

Li now had eleven thousand points. He had four thousand left over from before, earned one thousand for overseeing several students' graduation exams, and received another thousand after Jiraiya praised his performance in the training battle. Now, killing this Jonin had earned him five thousand more, bringing his total to eleven thousand. The Three-Tomoe Sharingan cost ten thousand, and Li still had one chance to upgrade his Kekkei Genkai. It was just enough to upgrade his Sharingan to the Mangekyō.

"The same trick won't work twice. The next time I run into the two Sand Ninja, I'll have to face both Jonin at once. Taking on two Jonin with my current strength will be difficult. Looks like upgrading to the Mangekyō Sharingan is a must!"

With that in mind, Li didn't hesitate. After setting some traps made from Explosive Tags around the area, he sank his consciousness into the system. It was still the same space, crisscrossed with what looked like network cables, with a glowing white sphere in the middle. Compared to before, though, the sphere seemed a little bigger and brighter.

Li paid it little mind. He opened the exchange page and tapped the Sharingan section, where he saw the option to exchange for the Three-Tomoe Sharingan for ten thousand points. Without hesitation, he tapped it. A blood-red glow broke free from the option and sank into Li's forehead. His Sharingan appeared automatically, the two Tomoe spinning rapidly. The blood-red energy flowed from his mind into his eyes, forming another Tomoe in the empty space of each pupil. The spinning Sharingan came to a stop, and his Two-Tomoe Sharingan had evolved into the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

"My ocular power really has increased a lot. If I used the Crow Clone Technique on someone now, even an ordinary Jonin couldn't break it just by disrupting the flow of chakra!" Feeling the ocular power surging in his eyes, Li nodded slightly, satisfied. But it still wasn't enough.

After exchanging for the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, Wenxuan looked at the Mangekyō option. It said the exchange was free. Li tapped it at once. Just like before, a blood-red glow broke free from the option and sank into his forehead. The three Tomoe spun faster and faster until their shape grew indistinct, looking just like a wheel in motion.

"Ah!"

A sharp pain suddenly shot through his eye, as if someone had dug it out with a knife. Caught off guard, Li clapped a hand over his left eye. A trickle of dark-red blood slid down his fingertips. Then the pain vanished. He slowly lowered his hand and opened his eye. His pupil had completely changed: the three Tomoe had become a circle that looked as though it were made of tadpoles, resting quietly in his eye.

"So this is the ocular power of the Mangekyō Sharingan. It really is powerful!" Li let out a small breath and wiped the blood from the corner of his eye, delighted. Now that he had the Mangekyō, he finally had the beginnings of a means to protect himself.

"System, why can't I feel my Dojutsu?" Li narrowed his eyes slightly and looked at the white sphere.

"Because the system helped the host upgrade his Mangekyō, the system will also provide his Dojutsu. The host may now choose two Dojutsu. The first is Susanoo, assigned to the host by the system. The second is the host's own choice!" The system quickly gave him an answer.

"What? I only get to choose two?" Li was a little unhappy, but didn't dwell on it. As long as he had enough points later, he could get as many Dojutsu as he wanted, couldn't he?

After listing all the Dojutsu, Li found himself facing another difficult choice.

There were all kinds of Dojutsu, nearly every one of them. Each was powerful, and Li wanted them all, but he could only choose one. It was like putting thirty thousand dollars in front of someone in three separate piles, then telling them they could only choose one and asking which pile they wanted!

"System, exchange for Kamui!" After a long hesitation, Li finally chose Kamui.

Kamui was Uchiha Obito's Dojutsu in the original story. It could distort space and create a separate dimension, making its attacks extremely strange. It could transport objects or people into that dimension without a sound or warning. It was also the best trick for staying alive. Just like Uchiha Obito, you could send your own body into the other dimension. No matter how many attacks your opponent unleashed, you could stand there without moving, then stab them with a Kunai once they were tired.

Once Li made his choice, the system quickly implanted Kamui into his eyes. In an instant, he felt two streams of information enter his mind, one about Susanoo and the other about Kamui. After absorbing how to use both Dojutsu, Li narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Sunagakure, your time is up!"

After upgrading to the Mangekyō, Li left the space of consciousness. But the moment he opened his eyes, he heard a loud explosion. He looked over and couldn't help giving a playful smile. Several ninja had tried to sneak up on him, only to get caught in the traps he'd laid. The blast had come from an Explosive Tag.

"Ow!"

The three ninja were lucky. They'd stepped on a trap, but it hadn't killed them; they'd only been left covered in dust. From their Forehead Protectors, they seemed to be ninja from Kusagakure. Kusagakure wasn't very far from Konoha, lying between the Land of Fire and the Land of Earth. The village was very good at learning other people's Ninjutsu, and it was considered quite powerful.

"Let's use you to test out my Dojutsu!" Li curled his lip slightly, and the Mangekyō Sharingan appeared.

"Kid, hand over your scroll, or else—"

Before he could finish speaking, a powerful suction force suddenly took hold. The Grass Ninja fell silent. His head was gone. Behind him, a vortex opened in space and sucked his head straight inside, leaving only a headless corpse gushing blood.

The two remaining Grass Ninja were horrified. They had never seen such a bizarre way of killing anyone. Their first instinct was to run, but a dark blur flashed past them. A thin line of blood appeared across both their necks, and they fell dead, eyes wide open. Flash Step was as fast as Space-Time Ninjutsu. Though Li could only use it three times in a row, that was more than enough to kill the two Grass Ninja.

"Kamui is incredibly powerful, but I have to kill with a single strike. Otherwise, it'll be easy for someone to get away. Still, it should be more than enough against two Jonin," Li murmured, rubbing his chin.
