Background / History
Yu Xiaogang was born into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan as Yu Yuanzhen’s son. His father regarded him as a disgrace after he awakened Luo Sanpao, a pig-like martial soul associated with farting, and Yu Xiaogang was expelled from the clan. Yu Yuanzhen nonetheless later hoped his son’s claimed theories might allow him to change his fate. 2 31
At Shrek Academy, Yu Xiaogang trained the Shrek Seven Devils and held particular confidence in Tang San. He believed Tang San’s future godhood would vindicate him before both the clan and the wider continent, allowing him to claim that he had “cultivated a god.” 1 5
When Martial Soul Hall pursued Tang San, Yu Xiaogang intervened despite being vastly weaker than Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo. Chrysanthemum Douluo slapped him away, shattering his front teeth; Tang Hao’s arrival ultimately protected Tang San. Yu Xiaogang then left with Tang Hao and Tang San after Shrek Academy disbanded, insisting that Tang San still needed his guidance. 13 15
Personality
Yu Xiaogang is deeply preoccupied with proving his worth. Years of being branded a failure by the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan drove him to seek recognition through theory, teaching, and Tang San’s anticipated future achievements. 2 5
He is highly self-assured in his analyses and reacts poorly when Tang San questions them. His certainty repeatedly leads him to make disastrous arena bets, yet he habitually rationalizes his mistakes rather than accepting responsibility. 17 32 62
His protectiveness toward Tang San is intertwined with self-interest: Yu Xiaogang expects Tang San to take him to the God Realm after becoming a god. Once Tang San loses the Clear Sky Hammer, Yu Xiaogang immediately doubts his value and harshly blames him instead of offering comfort. 6 37 50
