Background / History

Qian Xunji was Martial Soul Hall’s former leader and Pope before his death. He had been dead long enough that his appearance in the second Arena Tournament shocked the continent; the tournament’s power summoned him back and restored him to his prime condition. 16 18

Bibi Dong was once his personal disciple. Their relationship became the source of their mutual hatred: Bibi Dong states that Qian Xunji forced himself upon her in a secret chamber, while Qian Xunji insists that her love for Yu Xiaogang and later betrayal invalidated everything he had done for her. Bibi Dong eventually killed him, leaving his memories fixed on the moment she devoured him. 18 21

As a direct descendant of the Angel Clan, Qian Xunji considers the eradication of Evil Soul Masters an obligation. Before his death, he had fought and suppressed fallen soul masters repeatedly, and he views a loss to an Evil Soul Master as a stain on the Angel Clan’s honor. 19

Personality

Qian Xunji is intensely proud of his Angel Clan heritage. He treats Evil Soul Masters as a “crooked path” to be purified and refuses to accept defeat against them, even when Zhongli Wu’s superior soul power places him at a disadvantage. 19

His return to life is driven first by vengeance against Bibi Dong. Although he accepts that Qian Daoliu will not personally settle their grudge, he immediately confronts Bibi Dong and vows to surpass her when he realizes that her current strength far exceeds his own. 21 22

As Pope, he is comparatively restrained toward his subordinates. He continues to trust Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo, declines to punish them for failing to capture Tang San, and instead blames Bibi Dong’s earlier command decisions. 27

Second Arena Match

Qian Xunji is selected for the second Arena Tournament match despite already being dead. Matched against the stronger Level 98 Zhongli Wu, he initially struggles under the latter’s overwhelming soul power but refuses to yield to an Evil Soul Master. 16 18 19

He expands the Angel Judgment Domain to suppress Zhongli Wu’s evil power, then calls upon Qian Daoliu for the Angel Holy Sword. The divine artifact allows him to decisively defeat Zhongli Wu and earn resurrection. 19 20 21

Return as Pope

After returning to Martial Soul Hall, Qian Xunji reunites with Qian Daoliu before confronting Bibi Dong at the Pope Palace. He is immediately overwhelmed by her Rank 99 strength and retreats, promising to settle the score once he has grown stronger. 21 22

Qian Daoliu subsequently removes Bibi Dong from the papal position and expels her from Martial Soul Hall. Qian Xunji returns to the Pope’s throne and resumes command of the organization. 22 27

Pursuit of Tang San

After learning of the future destruction of Martial Soul Hall, Qian Xunji identifies Tang San as the organization’s foremost danger. Even after Tang San loses the Clear Sky Hammer, Qian Xunji refuses to relax the manhunt and orders Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo to pressure the Clear Sky Sect. 45 52

Conflict with Bibi Dong

While watching Bibi Dong’s battle with Long Xiaoyao, Qian Xunji acknowledges that she has become far stronger than him despite still resenting her. 40

Bibi Dong’s resurrection through her ninth soul skill, Undying Body, further frustrates him. Having needed an Arena Tournament victory to return from death himself, Qian Xunji sees her effortless revival as an unfair advantage and a major obstacle to revenge. 42
