Because of Lan Kai's suggestion, Juggler didn't leave Aolai City. Instead, he checked into the best hotel in the city.
Seeing Na'er covered in grime, Juggler furrowed his brow and handed her over to the secretary the Spirit Pagoda had assigned him, asking her to help Na'er take a bath.
While Na'er was being taken to bathe, Lan Kai and Juggler exchanged some more information. Then Juggler picked up a glass of juice from a local brand and downed it in one gulp, his face showing a trace of fatigue.
"Let's not talk about those unpleasant things. First, let's think about what direction you should take from here.
"As for your Soul Spirit, tell me what you have in mind. I'll help you get it.
"But I won't go easy on you in the combat training ahead. Since you know about my past, you'd better prepare yourself."
Juggler gave a sly, wicked smile. Just looking at it made Lan Kai's butt hurt a little.
Back when Juggler had served as captain of the Earth Defense Force's STORAGE under the identity of Hebikura Shota, his "Butt Grabber" move on Natsukawa Haruki had left a particularly deep impression on Lan Kai.
And Juggler's combat training made Lan Kai instinctively afraid.
However, Lan Kai also knew that if he wanted to become a qualified Warrior of Light, Juggler's training would help him immensely.
So even though he still felt afraid, he clenched his fists, straightened up, and answered in a loud, clear voice:
"Ohss!"
"Don't use that catchphrase!"
Juggler retorted instinctively.
Half an hour later...
"Lan Kai, you never told me this Silver Dragon King could eat this much!"
Seeing the mountain of plates piled up in front of Na'er, Juggler's mouth twitched as he turned to look at Lan Kai beside him.
It wasn't that Juggler had never seen a big eater, but this was the first time he'd met anyone who could eat this much.
Even the Warriors of Light couldn't hold a candle to Na'er when it came to eating.
Could the dragons in this world actually turn into the four-dimensional monster Blazar?
"Uh, well, Tang Wulin—the Divine King's son with the Golden Dragon King sealed inside him—can eat just as much..."
Lan Kai added, his mouth twitching too.
He'd heard the legends about big eaters long ago, but seeing a two-dimensional big eater appear in the three-dimensional world had hit him with such a powerful sensory shock that even Lan Kai, who possessed the Light of Orb, could barely take it.
"Fine. At least I'm the Spirit Pagoda's fifth Spirit Envoy. But if I keep letting her eat like this, I'll have to consider replacing those two vice tower masters—or even the tower master."
Once Na'er had finally eaten her fill, neither Lan Kai nor Juggler felt like eating anymore. They forced down a little food to settle their stomachs, then began thinking about what to do next.
According to Lan Kai's own plans, his first Soul Spirit had to be light-attribute. He didn't mind if it was an artificial elemental Soul Spirit.
Juggler didn't have much to say. Though he was a Spirit Envoy of the Spirit Pagoda, his knowledge of Soul Masters was far inferior to Lan Kai's.
Whether it was choosing a Soul Spirit or picking one of the various second professions, Juggler couldn't help much. His experience with professions at STORAGE only gave him some understanding of mecha maintenance.
Still, when Lan Kai decided to choose blacksmithing as his second profession, Juggler gave him a doubtful look.
"Could this world's forging techniques really make weapons a Warrior of Light could use?"
"Hard to say. The defense force on Ultraman X's side can even replicate Ultraman Zero's equipment.
"Battle Armor might not be as useful as Ultraman X's armor, but at least in human-sized combat, it could still come in handy.
"Besides, if I use the Light of Orb in forging too, it might be possible to create a robot as powerful as those giant machines at STORAGE—or even something like King Joe.
"Also, Tang Wulin, the original protagonist, is best at blacksmithing.
"Whether I make him my teammate while he still has some kindness left in him, or crush him in the field he's best at after he's become a scumbag, either way, it'll be the most effective approach."
Lan Kai hurriedly explained, even giving a few examples from the Ultraman series.
The technological level of Douluo Continent was far behind that of those fantastical defense forces. It was even more backward than the much-maligned MAC Team or the defense force from the comedic Ultraman Zearth.
But Juggler couldn't deny that if they infused the power of the Warriors of Light into metal, it might undergo a remarkable transformation.
And in human-sized combat, a set of excellent Battle Armor could indeed help them.
The Spirit Pagoda had already started preparing a set of Three-Word Battle Armor for Juggler as a joining bonus to recruit him. If he earned more merit, arranging a set of Four-Character Battle Armor wasn't out of the question.
For Juggler, who couldn't freely grow gigantic right now, Battle Armor might actually be useful.
Nearby, Na'er had finished eating and was quietly watching the two of them.
As the Silver Dragon King, she had sealed away her memories so she could experience human emotions. At first, she hadn't known why she had appeared in Aolai City.
If she wanted to experience human emotions, Shrek City might have been enough.
But now, Na'er seemed to understand something.
The warm and powerful light within Lan Kai, along with the equally warm and powerful darkness within Juggler, might be even stronger—and of a higher order—than the so-called powers of the Golden Dragon King and the Dragon God.
If she could build a good relationship with them and gain similar powers in the future...
Na'er quickly pushed all those random thoughts deep inside. What she had to do now was be the Na'er she was: Lan Kai's little sister and the child Juggler had adopted.
And also a "cripple" without a Martial Soul.
"Brother!"
When Na'er saw Juggler easily knock Lan Kai down, she screamed and started toward him.
But Juggler's secretary, Yan Yu, caught hold of her.
"Master is teaching Lan Kai combat techniques. Don't go over and disturb them."
"But, but Brother keeps getting beaten so badly..."
Seeing Lan Kai knocked down again and again by Juggler, looking like he was in extreme pain, Na'er grew so anxious she was almost in tears.
But not only the secretary, Yan Yu, seemed unconcerned. Lan Kai himself didn't seem to mind either.
That was because Lan Kai knew Juggler was using extremely high standards to cultivate his combat instincts. Juggler only knocked him down when he made an obvious mistake, imprinting the lesson into his body.
"Again!"
