Background

True Sun Sect was founded roughly a century before the current events, but rapidly became Anning Prefecture’s undisputed dominant force. Its rise was founded on powerful experts, secret medicines, superior cultivation methods, and control of an Earth Vein beneath the Prefecture Capital. 1 82 104 107

Several decades earlier, the death of the previous Sect Master nearly caused the sect’s destruction. Jiang Tianyan succeeded him, quelled the resulting invasion crisis, and led the sect’s eventual rise to power. 105 120

After the imperial court weakened, True Sun Sect negotiated control of Anning Prefecture and replaced the former local order with its own. It established City Guard units across the prefecture, appointed sect personnel as commanders, and recruited local martial artists through Martial Exams and Martial Trials. 1 23

The sect’s current leadership faces a succession crisis. Jiang Tianyan was gravely injured after entering God-Burying Abyss and can only preserve his life through ice sleep; the nearly unattainable Eighteen Ghost Hands Needles may be his only cure. 97

True Sun Sect is divided into seven competing main halls. Their struggle for disciples, resources, and influence is closely tied to the Hidden Dragon Plan and the selection of future core successors. 105

The Hidden Dragon Plan is tied to succession rather than ordinary disciple recruitment. Candidates include sect descendants, aristocratic heirs, great-clan descendants, and selected geniuses from across the prefecture. 98

Suppression of the Deity Sacrifice Cult

The sect regards the Deity Sacrifice Cult as one of its greatest threats in Anning Prefecture. Envoy Lu Yunxing pursued a strategy of identifying and eliminating entire networks of Evil Cultivators rather than making isolated arrests. 74

During the newcomer trial, the sect allowed the Deity Sacrifice Cult to expose its hidden Anning Prefecture branch before activating the Sealing Spirit Formation to suppress the invaders’ cultivation. 128

Demon Calamities and Dragon God Palace

True Sun Sect has confronted demons connected to Dragon God Palace within its territory. Ning Jiu, Jiang Tianyan’s youngest closed-door disciple, personally fought a great demon after it slaughtered civilians in sect territory. 107

The sect later prepared to suppress unrest in Myriad Poison Marsh and treated the possible emergence of a Demon Calamity as a practical trial for its elite disciples. 134
