Abyssal Gargoyles
The tower was eerily silent. Zul'ra sat cross-legged in the void, ignoring the flattened insect corpses beneath his feet, silently watching the chilling air seeping from the dark interior. Just as he waited, a dragon's roar resounded from the sky.
With a dragon's roar, shadows descended from the sky, and Malygos and Tarecgosa, carrying Anveena, descended from the heavens. Tarecgosa was the first to revert to human form and walked with Anveena to the side of Zul'ra, who was sitting in mid-air, their movements sweeping over the flattened insect corpses on the ground around them.
"I'm fine. How are things over there?" Zul'ra looked at Tarecgosa was scanning the insect corpses and then looking at her with an inquiring gaze. She shook her head slightly. Tarecgosa was about to answer when Malygos, who had transformed into human form, took over the conversation.
"Why are you still here?" Malygos looked at the flattened insect corpse on the ground, reluctantly transformed back into human form, and gazed at Zul'ra, who was sitting in front of the tower.
"If I'm not here, where am I? Inside?" Zul'ra turned to look at Malygos, her face asking, "Are you sure?"
"Mortal, don't think you can act recklessly against dragons just because you have some skill!" Malygos held her breath. This mortal had only killed a few insects, yet he dared to be so insolent in front of her. Was he mocking her for not fulfilling her earlier words, and for only dealing with those bone dragons with Tarecgosa's help?
"Forget it, I'm not going to talk to you anymore. Tarecgosa, you and Anveena wait here. Make sure you protect Anveena." Zul'ra shook her head at Malygos, then looked at the Blue Dragonflight girl beside her amidst the latter's angry expression.
"And what about you?" Anveena couldn't help but ask.
"Of course I'll go in with her." Zul'ra pointed at Malygos as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Before the Crypt Fiend appeared, he had originally planned to go straight into the tower, but looking at the dark vision inside the door, he decided to wait for Tarecgosa and Malygos to come over first.
"Tch!" Malygos looked at the guy pointing at her, paused for a moment, and then uttered a disdainful sound: cowardly mortal.
"Alright, don't worry! She'll take good care of me." Zul'ra looked at the disdainful Malygos and said reassuringly to Tarecgosa was about to speak, indicating that she shouldn't worry about herself, and that with the Blue Dragonflight traveling with her, any attacks would definitely target her first.
"No, what I meant was that you'd better be careful!" Tarecgosa looked at Zul'ra, who had a comforting expression, then glanced at Malygos beside her and couldn't help but purse her lips. In her mind, Zul'ra was by no means a good person. She was worried that Malygos would be tricked, but thinking about it, it was better not to say such things to her face!
"Don't worry! I'll take care of him." Seeing that Tarecgosa was hesitant to speak and was glancing at her vaguely, Malygos quickly indicated that she "understood."
"Then let's do it this way!" Seeing that the person involved did not object, Zul'ra immediately made the decision, giving Tarecgosa a "you see" look.
"You'd better be careful," Tarecgosa warned her companion as she turned to him.
"Ladies first." Zul'ra put down her crossed legs and politely invited the mother dragon to go in first.
"I am a dragon, not a lady." Malygos didn't bother to reply to Tarecgosa. Seeing Zul'ra smiling and letting her enter the tower first, she raised a brow. She wasn't stupid.
"Alright, I'll go first, you follow behind." Zul'ra wasn't surprised that the mother dragon didn't respond; after all, no one is truly stupid, it's just that her tactics weren't working well.
Unable to outwit the mother dragon, Zul'ra floated into the tower's doorway, her body merging into the dark portal. Malygos followed, but as she reached the door, she suddenly remembered something, and a flash of blue light appeared around her.
Dragons are incredibly vulnerable in human form; if killed, they truly die. Therefore, Malygos reverted to her dragon form and then crashed headlong into the tower.
The tower's doors were enchanted; from the outside, the world inside appeared pitch black, completely obscured. However, once past the doors, a wide-open vista opened up, though the light remained dim, and...
"Those guys dug a really deep pit!" Zul'ra grinned as she looked at the abyss beneath her feet. Those Scourge had actually dug a huge pit in this tower, and chilling air was constantly billowing out from it.
"Roar!" Malygos felt the chilling aura emanating from the depths of the abyss, raised her eyes slightly, and let out a long, alert cry.
"I see it, you don't need to remind me." Zul'ra scratched his head. The walls inside the tower were covered with a layer of black metal, which exuded an evil aura. It was Saronite, and the the Scourge had built this place into a secret base.
Seeing that Zul'ra remained calm and composed, Malygos became somewhat annoyed. It stopped the cry it was about to make, then spread its wings and swooped down into the abyss. However, it found a weight on its back.
"Don't worry about things too much at this point. The underground is unpredictable, and if something goes wrong, neither of us will get out." Zul'ra climbed onto the Blue Dragonflight's back without hesitation and stopped it from its planned uprising.
Hearing the Trolls on her back speak, Malygos forced back her roar, but still let out a sharp cry, as if she were raging. Then she folded her wings and began to descend rapidly.
"Slow down, slow down, be careful, there's something there, it's a gargoyle." Zul'ra looked at the dark underground rock wall and felt the powerful descent of the Blue Dragonflight beneath him. He couldn't help but shout. He saw crouching statues on the rock wall covered with a thin layer of ice. They were shaped like bats but had four legs on the ground. When Malygos's huge body landed, their eyes lit up red.
Gargoyles are a race of unknown origin within the Scourge. They resemble magical statues, yet are also like living beings. They usually disguise themselves as statues, but when enemies approach, they immediately transform into bat monsters that are immune to all magical damage.
Just as Malygos was forcibly descending into the abyss with Zul'ra on her back, the gargoyles on the rock walls lit up with red light in their eyes. Their originally stone-like bodies began to move, their wings flapping as they pounced on Malygos and Zul'ra on her back. In an instant, the sound of countless wings flapping filled the once silent underground space, which was now an unknown depth.
"Roar!" Malygos let out a long howl, its bat wings unfurling behind it. With a swift twist of its dragon body, it swept away the gargoyles that pounced like a pack of wolves. The gargoyles were struck against the walls, making a series of sounds, like two stones colliding.
"Watch out, something else is coming down there, bone dragons! Is this your dragon tomb?" Zul'ra was almost thrown out by Malygos. Her gaze inadvertently fell upon the scene below, and she was startled. There were bone dragons, and three of them, climbing up the rock wall.
Malygos let out a cry and bared its fangs and claws, swinging its long tail in an attempt to shake off the gargoyles surrounding it, but there were too many of them—at least a hundred. Their bodies were incredibly tough; unless they were smashed to pieces, like those that were slammed against the rock walls, they would shake their heads and then swarm back. The Blue Dragonflight was already overwhelmed.
