Leper Gnomes
After a brief discussion about Amani accepting refugees and combating natural the Scourge, the group dispersed. Zul'ra began to arrange the remaining funds, which would be used entirely to build a steel mill. ̢̜̳̱͈̹͓͜ḩ̷̻̩͍̱̗͔̺̏̓͊̀͂̀ͅṵ̵̙̻͉̦͙̗̥̉̓̓͊̑̂̑x̸͍̘̳͂͊̂̊̀͊̕͘.̷̹̦̆̆c̶͙͈͚̽̄̈̎̒͜ó̶̧̧̝̳̠͇͕̺̲̹̔̈́̃͝͝m̷̗͓̽̂̌̋̃̌
There are many tasks involved in officially starting the construction of the steel plant. In addition to the necessary personnel, equipment, and funds, a location is also needed for the plant, and the location of this steel plant is destined to be located in Orgrimmar.
After looking around, Zul'ra finally chose to build the steel mill in the southern foothills of Azshara, where it was backed by the majestic mountains of Orgrimmar, with extremely rich underground reserves of copper, coal and gold, and it was also close to the Southfury River Southfury River, where a Horde's mines, which produced rocks and iron ore, were located downstream.
After deciding on the location, Zul'ra immediately consulted his subordinates and ultimately chose a Goblins engineer Grizzl Rollerblade as the chief engineer. This fellow was an engineer recruited by Dr. Piz at his request, and most importantly, he understood his meaning and knew that what he wanted to build was a factory that could continuously provide industrial food.
Grizzl Rollerblading displayed his architectural talent, boldly proposing that Zul'ra abandon the traditional stone-building method and instead use products such as asphalt, bricks, and lime plaster to build the factory. These products have not yet appeared in this world and belong to the invention of some Goblins or the accidental product of an invention. Although others may not recognize them, Zul'ra can.
Zul'ra agreed to Grizzl's suggestion and granted him funds to invest in the company, allowing him to build factories producing asphalt, bricks, and lime plaster in addition to the steel mill. These factories were all state-owned. To motivate Grizzl, Zul'ra gave him and some craftsmen and inventors a small share, while the rest belonged to the state.
While building the steel mill, Zul'ra was entertaining merchants from Silvermoon City in Orgrimmar. Unsurprisingly, these Quel'Thalas capitalists were attracted by the Horde's huge profit potential and decided to promote the development of the Horde's light industry.
Sin'dorei are a traditional silk-producing nation. They possess the art of silk weaving, a skill said to have been acquired by Dath'Remar from wandering Pandaren. Beyond this skill, they have developed many other excellent textile techniques, though these rely heavily on Arcane and thus require improvement.
To improve the textile industry, it's not about forging technology, which requires pure steam power, but a more refined power, namely electricity. The Horde doesn't have many experts in electricity right now, but the Sin'dorei have brought their own. They brought experts in the field, a group of Leper Gnomes covered in sores, some even having to be bandaged all over.
The Gnomes lived in Gnomeregan, a city deep in the Dun Morogh Mountains of the Eastern Kingdoms. However, due to the invasion of some strange creatures, their city was struck by an accident, resulting in an explosion that killed some of the Gnomes. Many of the surviving Gnomes contracted leprosy in the explosion, suffering from numbness and damage to their muscles and skin.
To survive, the Gnomes fled their homeland. The healthy Gnomes went to live with the friendly Dwarves of Ironforge, while many deformed Gnomes suffered from illness and sought a cure. Some went to Dalaran, some to Silvermoon City, and some even went to Undercity. The Leper Gnomes brought by the Sin'dorei were a group of electrical experts who had come to join them.
When Zul'ra saw the Leper Gnomes brought by the Sin'dorei, he felt as if he had found a treasure. He treated them with great respect, promising to find a cure for them and agreeing to let them become members of the Horde. Not only the Sin'dorei standing by, but even the Leper Gnomes themselves were somewhat taken aback.
Although somewhat taken aback, after receiving Zul'ra's solemn promise, the Leper Gnomes led by Hermes Faraday decided to join the Horde. During their exile, they had suffered too much discrimination and contempt, and many of their tribesmen had even been reduced to shop laborers. Zul'ra was one of the few people who respected and valued them.
Those Leper Gnomes had been reduced to hard labor were one of the reasons why Hermes and the others decided to surrender to Zul'ra. They told Zul'ra about their tribe's plight, and Zul'ra showed his seriousness by sending letters and messengers to Silvermoon City and Undercity, asking them to recruit more Gnomes talents for the Horde and to treat them fairly.
In addition to sending letters to Silvermoon City and Undercity, Zul'ra also personally examined Hermes's condition. The Gnomes was covered in bandages, and the skin under the bandages was ulcerated and oozing cavities, but he felt no pain or itching, and didn't even feel anything. This was the origin of leprosy.
Leprosy is not only very strange, but also contagious. The lesions will continue to spread to the patient's wounds, and if it gets too deep, it can even cause deformities and twists in the joints. No medicine or healing magic can help.
Zul'ra was not surprised by the world's hygiene and medical awareness. After observing Hermes's condition, she first prepared an external antidote to help Hermes and the Gnomes clean the pus and rotten flesh from their wounds. She then applied herbal medicine to help the wounds heal quickly. After that, she helped him regain his lost senses and carried out a full recovery.
Regardless of the effectiveness of the treatment, Zul'ra's dedicated efforts deeply moved the Leper Gnomes. In return, they quickly drew up blueprints for an electrically powered spinning wheel and answered all his questions about science.
Gnomes are one of the few races in the world that studies science. Their ancestors were machines that served the Titans. They are not Goblins, who are half-baked in sciences such as electricity, magnetism, and data information. Instead, they conduct comprehensive research in these fields. Some of them are even interested in the Light and Arcane.
Based on Zul'ra's idea of electrification, Hermes and his colleagues studied it and immediately wrote a report on the use of electricity. Electricity could be used for lighting, communication, broadcasting, and textiles. This energy source was different from the heat required for steam. It could be converted from the kinetic energy of humans, animals, water, and wind in nature, and it could also be stored, making it extremely convenient and easy to control.
After reviewing the electricity usage report, Zul'ra immediately decided to push for the electrification of the Horde, starting with lighting up Orgrimmar.
Zul'ra wrote to Undercity and Silvermoon City, requesting that they hand over the remaining Leper Gnomes Gnomes. He needed their help to promote electrification, which required building power plants, manufacturing wires and cables, and laying them out. The Orcs, Shu'halo, and Trolls workers had absolutely no experience in this area.
Silvermoon City was unfazed by Zul'ra's request, but Undercity was extremely dissatisfied. Sylvanas wanted to detain him, but ultimately had no choice but to send him over.
Thank you to Song Rentou and I am a big fryer for the donations and support. Don't wait up for me tonight, I'm going to sleep now.
