History

Defeat and reform

The Amani joined Orgrim Doomhammer's war against the High Elves, humans, and Dwarves under Chieftain Zul'jin. After the Horde's retreat, Zul'Aman faced food shortages and the prospect of retaliation from its enemies. 2 5

Zul'ra Jin argued that the Amani's defeat exposed fundamental weaknesses: a small population, scattered tribes, inadequate food reserves, and inferior weapons and systems. He advocated ending cannibalism and blood sacrifice, adopting agriculture and new technologies, and seeking allies. 15

Zul'jin ordered Zul'ra, Malacrass, and selected personnel to study in Zandalar. Zul'ra was also appointed Exarch of Zul'Aman. 15

Zul'ra Jin's accession

Zul'ra Jin returned to Zul'Aman and challenged Zul'jin in a Mak'gora. He defeated and killed the former chieftain with a single spear thrust, after which Zul'jin's followers accepted him as King of the Amani. 53 54

As king, Zul'ra immediately assigned reforms across the nation:

Expansion and diplomacy

Zul'ra sought to unite Forest Troll tribes under the Amani banner, negotiating with groups including the Viletooth and Shadowfang Tribes. The Shadowfang Tribe formally accepted Amani protection and swore loyalty to it. 43 238

The Amani signed a peace treaty with Quel'Thalas that established borders, mutual non-aggression obligations, troop limits, compensation for Darkwood territory, and access to the Amani Tombs and Thalassian Path. 95

The nation later joined the Horde while maintaining that it would not become hostile toward Quel'Thalas. 210

Institutional and industrial development

During Zul'ra Jin's absence in Kalimdor, Broken-Tooth, Maki, Lostro, Mordu, and other leaders established the Aman'Shuli Council to prevent Amani governance from depending entirely on one ruler. 341

Zul'ra later reaffirmed the council's authority, then consolidated its political direction around Horde alignment, productivity, trade, and control of emerging private capital. 342 345

The Amani began an industrial program built around workshops, shipyards, smelters, weapons factories, Goblin engineering, Defias craftsmen, and Sin'dorei technical assistance. Its first steam-engine prototype and a steam-powered forging machine were completed during this effort. 403 409

Government and Society

Aman'Shuli Council

The Aman'Shuli Council manages Amani affairs and provides administrative continuity when Zul'ra Jin is absent. It was formed by Broken-Tooth, Maki, Lostro, Mordu, and other Amani leaders. 341

Land forces

The Amani reorganized its military around improved weapons, formal training, armor distribution, and beast taming. 109
