Void Lords, or by another, more familiar name—Void Lords. These creatures embodied the purest power of shadow. Unlike the Naaru, who represented the ultimate Holy Light, the Naaru who traveled through the Dark Void were a native species, born of the Dark Void. Though they could communicate with the sea of light beyond the realm and comprehend the true essence of the Holy Light within it, the Dark Void that had birthed them would not reject them, much less expel them.
By comparison, the Void Lords born in the depths of the Void had it much worse. As a native species of the Void, they were not "welcome" in the Dark Void. The entire world rejected their existence, making it extraordinarily difficult for these powerful creatures to enter this newly born, mysterious universe.
But nothing in the universe was absolute. Unlike other foolish races, cunning and treachery were synonymous with Void Lords, and that title carried another implication: their intelligence was equally exceptional.
After countless ages of experimentation, these determined creatures had more or less discovered several ways to enter the Dark Void. Though the cost was immense, some had still succeeded. Their movements became restricted, and they needed a long period to recover their strength, but from the results alone, it was still a guaranteed profitable deal.
Thus, when faced with such an immensely powerful yet unfriendly stowaway, Sargeras was strong as well, but as a newly born Titan, he did not yet possess the combat prowess to tear through the universe as he would in the future. Moreover, on the home ground carefully prepared by this Void Lord, that gap was further magnified.
Faced with the constant blasts of energy unleashed by the Void Lord, Sargeras, trapped in place, could do nothing but hold on with all his strength. His opponent seemed to feel that victory was assured and began showering him with words steeped in corruption and temptation.
"Ah, World Soul. I do not know how you reached this place, but have you come to join us? If so, why are you still resisting? Having witnessed this boundless might, should you not obediently submit?"
"You... disgusting... creature. You want me to submit to you? Keep... dreaming." Sargeras panted heavily. He had held out for far too long. Feeling his strength rapidly draining away, he roared inwardly, Vanidak, what are you waiting for? I can't hold on much longer!
Unfortunately, his brother seemed to be playing his disappearing act again. His inner call received no answer for a long time, followed by another round of seductive words from the Void Lord.
"Submit to me? No, no, I think you misunderstand, World Soul. Though I can represent the great Void to some extent, what I want is not for you to submit to me and become my servant."
"Of course, if you willingly become my servant, I would be flattered. But honestly, what I need you to do is feel the power of the Void, accept it, merge with it, embrace it, and accept this great power."
"That is all."
"You are still dreaming, you treacherous creature. Give me a chance, and I will use my sword to cut off that ugly head of yours!" Sargeras roared furiously at him.
"Oh my, how terrifying. But I do not think you will get that chance. You cannot even break free of my cage, so how do you intend to rush over and swing your sword at me?"
"Besides, do you really think you can kill me, World Soul?"
As though he had heard some amusing joke, the Void Lord's tone was filled with mockery. He relentlessly battered his opponent's mind with words, trying to shatter his mental defenses. This was what he did best.
"Bastard, bastard! Don't let me get my hands on you! I will... I will... Aaaah!!!"
Growing increasingly agitated under his opponent's verbal assault, Sargeras repeatedly tried to break through the cage as he roared in fury. Watching it all, the Void Lord did not pause his hands, while venomous words continued pouring from his mouth. "What astonishing willpower. But how pitiful. What can an insect trapped in a cage like you do? Kill me?"
"Of course."
A voice suddenly rang out. The Void Lord jolted in surprise. He had not sensed the presence of any other creature in this space, but in the next instant, he had no time to consider it, because he discovered in shock that the Void prison trapping Sargeras had dissipated.
Watching the cage slowly vanish before him, Sargeras sneered at the astonished Void Lord. Still reliable, my brother, he thought, then let out an enraged battle cry.
"Now, stand still. Your head is mine!"
The battle aftermath produced by two creatures representing the pinnacle of their respective domains was astonishing. The world-destroying waves unleashed by their collisions raged continuously throughout the space. Fortunately, there was nothing here to be destroyed, or the losses would have been painfully enormous.
The Ethereal Prince, dodging miserably through the storm of destruction, finally found a safe place: that wondrous round black stone. The ripples it gave off caused the expanding shockwaves around it to vanish. Looking at the strange black stone, the Ethereal Prince's previously racing heart finally settled down.
"What a fine treasure, isn't it?"
A voice suddenly came from behind him. The words, which had spoken his inner thoughts aloud, made the prince tense up again just as he had calmed down, because he had not noticed when the other person had appeared at all.
"What an extraordinary thing, isn't it?" The voice sounded again. The Ethereal Prince swiftly drew the Ethereal Blade from his waist and turned to face this mysterious uninvited guest. Seeing him turn around, the other party spoke once more.
"Hey, buddy, this thing is pretty good. Could you introduce it to me? I do not want to know absolutely nothing about my own belongings."
"Who exactly are you? How did you get in here? Where are my guards? Where did they go?" the Ethereal Prince demanded coldly.
Seeing that the prince was unwilling to answer his question, the mysterious man shrugged and said helplessly, "Your guards? If you mean those fellows who look a lot like you, wrapped head to toe in strips of cloth..." He looked at the pitch-black blade extending from his arm, and his tone suddenly turned icy. "I dealt with them all. They felt absolutely no... pain."
Hearing this, the prince felt an overwhelming pressure. Before he could react, the other party continued.
"As for how I got in here, naturally, I came in after you opened the door. But honestly, if you had not led the way, I would never have sensed that there was such a 'wondrous' place in this starship."
"Oh, right, you also asked who I am." He shrugged, then pointed back at Sargeras, who was locked in fierce battle, and spoke words that filled the Ethereal Prince with terror in an indifferent tone. "Hmm... the same as that guy? Got a problem with that?"
Looking at the sword of the Ethereal Prince, who had tried to attack only to be reduced to ashes by a counterstrike from his own sword, Vanidak inwardly praised, A parry counter is invincible! He stepped forward, picked it up, and casually tossed it into one of his personal storage spaces before turning toward the strange and powerful round black stone.
"Ah, today really is my lucky day. The goddess of fortune is smiling upon me, though she might not be able to bless me."
Rubbing his hands with a lecherous grin, Vanidak slowly approached the black stone. Unlike before, when it had steadily released energy to block the impacts, the black stone was now violently unleashing a storm of energy, seemingly trying to stop Vanidak from advancing.
"Oh, what a shy beauty. Don't worry, don't worry." As Vanidak walked forward, two familiar black blades sprang from his hands. The entire Titan's aura changed as well. A cold, emotionless presence spread from his body, accompanied by eerie, fragmented whispers, while black flames gradually ignited over Vanidak's body.
"These Void lunatics really are insane, to think they came up with such a method to enter the Dark Void." Vanidak seemed completely unaffected as he walked through the energy storm. At last, he stopped before the black stone and examined the stone, which seemed to be growing afraid, with cold eyes. He spoke in a low voice.
"Using your own kin as the price to break through the realm. You really are a little genius."
Strong. The opponent was very strong. After their prolonged battle, that was Sargeras's only thought. Having expended too much strength within the cage, Sargeras had relied on his exceptional courage and skill to battle the Void Lord before him through an unknown number of exchanges. The surrounding space had already become scarred by the destructive aftermath of their clash, but compared to the space around him that was on the verge of shattering, Sargeras felt that he was the one about to collapse.
"Damn it, what exactly is this Void Lord? He seems just a little stronger than I am. If I had not stepped into this damned trap, I... damn it!" Sargeras silently cursed, gripping his sword in both hands as he stared at his powerful enemy.
"You truly possess enormous potential, World Soul." The Void Lord across from him rarely offered Sargeras praise. "The power you possess astonishes me. You are a powerful warrior."
"But game time is over. Next, prepare to embrace the Void, great... warrior."
Powerful energy gathered between the opponent's hands, and a difficult, intricate chant rapidly spilled forth. Sargeras sensed that something was wrong. His innate warrior's instinct told him he had been locked onto, while his opponent was clearly preparing a powerful spell, one so dangerous that even he felt it could be fatal.
"Not a chance!" Sargeras roared as he charged forward, trying to interrupt the chant. Halfway through his charge, a sudden blast of energy came from the side. The immense force was difficult even for Sargeras to withstand, interrupting his charge and sending him flying.
Fortunately, the Void Lord who had been chanting was also flung away by the sudden impact, and the nearly completed spell was forcibly interrupted. After tumbling through the air several times and finally steadying himself, he seemed somewhat enraged.
"Who, exactly, dares to interrupt my spell..."
Then a piercing wail rang out. It seemed to penetrate the soul, and the agonized scream made even Sargeras feel afraid.
The Void Lord froze upon hearing the scream, then swiftly looked in one direction and roared.
"No!!!"
"Who are you!"
"What exactly... did you do?!!!"
