Suzune attended the same middle school as Kushida Kikyo, though they were in different classes. She initially did not recognize Kushida or understand why Kushida held such intense hostility toward her; after Makoto revealed Kushida's past involvement in a class collapse, Suzune recalled the incident. 24 30

Upon entering Advanced Nurturing High School, Suzune kept her relationship with her older brother, Student Council President Horikita Manabu, private. She sought to follow in his footsteps and imitated the composure and coldness she associated with him, believing that earning his acknowledgement was her goal. 15 19 20
