Chapter 42: Emperor's Medical Treatment
Leaving behind the visual pollution of the three brothers, the trio arrived inside the Imperial Palace, only to have their path blocked by a figure.
"Hogg, you're finally here. I want to... wait? Why have you become so big?" Perturabo, who had been looking arrogant and ready to block Hogg's path to vent his frustrations, was stunned by Hogg's current size.
Seeing that Perturabo was clearly trying to block the door, Hogg didn't stand on ceremony and grabbed him.
"Yo! Isn't this my dear Pepe? What's wrong, missed me?" Hogg mocked, shaking the little guy in his hand.
Perturabo struggled with all his might, but he couldn't resist Hogg's strength and was held like a doll. Humiliated, he shouted, "Let go of me, you bastard! Put me down!"
Magnus, who had the best relationship with Perturabo, tried to step in to save him, but he too was grabbed by Hogg and left dangling, unable to move up or down.
At this moment, Magnus fully understood what Perturabo meant by "lacking manners," but the noble Crimson King was no weakling. He possessed vast psychic powers; surely, by unleashing them, he could teach Hogg a lesson and show him the meaning of etiquette.
However, when Magnus tried to channel his psychic energy, the power that usually responded to his every whim remained silent. Under his desperate manipulation, his already crimson skin turned even redder, but it had absolutely no effect.
Hogg, holding both Primarchs, saw them still trying to resist and swung his arms in a windmill motion, successfully interrupting their actions.
Kicking open the door in front of him, Hogg walked into the hall carrying the two Primarchs. Several people were already seated at the massive dining table, looking at him in surprise.
Hogg didn't stand on ceremony and walked up to Emperor. Looking at Emperor, who wore a fatherly smile on the main seat, he obediently put down the two Primarchs who had been shaken into a daze: "Neoth, I'm back."
A tall, handsome giant with a receding hairline heard Hogg's voice and greeted him warmly, pulling out a chair for him. But upon seeing Hogg's massive frame, he dragged Angron over instead and hurriedly called for someone to bring a larger chair.
"Hello brother, I am Horus Lupercal." A perfect, charismatic smile appeared on the giant's face. Even Hogg felt a sense of comfort, but he didn't speak, merely staring at the enthusiastic Horus with crimson light flickering in his eyes.
Sensing that the atmosphere was off, Horus stopped talking and stared at his mysterious brother until a hearty laugh broke the eerie silence.
A giant with golden hair and exposed canine teeth walked out, slapping Hogg's thigh hard. A rough, deep voice rang out: "Brother, you're truly sturdy! Even Vulkan doesn't have such a massive build. I feel like you could punch a Kraken to death."
"Hoo!" Exhaling a breath of foul air, Hogg relaxed his body, no longer appearing tense, and crouched down to extend his palm toward Horus.
"Hello, Horus. I apologize; my body is having some issues."
"So that's it! Haha! I almost thought you were going to punch me away just now." Horus forgot the earlier awkwardness; he was genuinely happy about Hogg's arrival.
In truth, Hogg had indeed considered killing Horus just now, but Emperor certainly wouldn't want that. Besides, having Horus greet him was likely Emperor's instruction; that Old Man Yellow was a crafty one.
At the same time, Hogg realized a few things: he couldn't blindly trust the so-called future. At this moment, Horus was a genuinely good person, the best big brother among the Primarchs, and the most suitable to lead everyone as Warmaster. People deserved to be saved, and good men shouldn't have guns pointed at them.
With his heart at ease, Hogg began to take his seat, but his massive size forced him to squat. Frustrated, Hogg greeted Emperor, who was currently PUA-ing Angron.
"Old Man Yellow, you didn't call me back just to watch me squat, did you? Give your good son a hand!" As soon as these words were out, Leman Russ, who had been stuffing his face, looked up, and everyone's eyes turned to Hogg.
Emperor, who had been playing the role of the loving father and instilling the Imperial Truth into Angron, frowned. Truly, nothing good comes out of a dog's mouth. Angered, he stood up directly.
Golden psychic energy instantly bound Hogg's body, making him swallow nervously, but thinking he hadn't said anything wrong, he hardened his resolve again.
"Old Man Yellow, what are you doing? I have so many brothers here; you need to be a good father! Awoo! Pepe, don't just watch! Horus, save me!"
The angry Emperor began the family discipline, his powerful fists raining down on Hogg's body. Golden psychic energy entered Hogg's body with every punch, beating out wisps of crimson flame.
Accompanied by Hogg's screams, chunks of parts were spat out of him, and his form slowly began to shrink.
Seeing this scene, Angron and Perturabo felt a sense of satisfaction, devouring two extra plates of food to the soundtrack of Hogg's wails.
Horus wanted to step forward to intervene, but he was scared back by a single look from Emperor, and could only pray in his heart that Hogg wouldn't be beaten to death by their father.
After nearly half an hour of beating, Emperor finally stopped as he looked at Hogg, who had shrunk back to his original size after vomiting a pile of parts. A squad of Adeptus Custodes walked over, placed the Blackstone devices Hogg had vomited into a container, and took them to the vault beneath the palace.
Lying on the ground, Hogg felt pain all over, but it felt good. The Chaos energy he had consumed was fused into his body by Emperor's beating, returning his form to a stable state, though it was excruciatingly painful.
Emperor kicked Hogg, who was still playing dead, and his voice rang in his ear: "Get up. Don't eat random things if you don't have to. Those pieces of trash aren't something you can handle right now. Go back to your seat."
Hogg, being very "compliant," obediently sat in the newly brought chair. The moment he looked up, he saw Leman Russ grinning at him from across the table. Not daring to make a move, Hogg could only vent his frustration on the food, giving Leman Russ a provocative look before stuffing his face.
At the table, Emperor was patiently explaining the Imperial Truth and his ideals to Angron, like a true father; Horus was enlivening the atmosphere, occasionally telling Imperial jokes that amused everyone; at the far end, Hogg and Leman Russ were gorging themselves like two pigs. This scene was recorded by the standing Adeptus Custodes and turned into a painting for the palace.
After everyone was full, they began to brag. Emperor gave a passionate speech to the Primarchs at the front. Leman Russ, sitting furthest away, expressed his appreciation for Hogg, who shared his massive appetite, and asked:
"Brother, I'm a bit curious. Why is Perturabo very friendly to all of us, but at odds with you?"
Putting down the piece of unknown meat in his hand, Hogg could only secretly recount his experience after discovering Perturabo. To make Leman Russ believe him, he transformed into the guise of Martha, and the two of them giggled in the corner.
Perturabo, who had been listening to Emperor's speech with excitement, saw that loving figure from his heart giggling with Leman Russ, and a wave of humiliating memories flooded his mind.
"Hogg! Don't you run! I'm going to beat you to death!" A grief-stricken Perturabo chased after the Martha-transformed Hogg out of the palace.
