Chapter 470: The Flesh Titan Hogg-class Ship Was Ready to Make Its Drop.
For most of the time, the Necrons had been little more than background scenery, and Hogg had unconsciously ignored them. He really didn't want to fight a bunch of skeletons powerful enough to destroy the entire Galaxy.
Whether it was the tidbits he'd heard from his old roommate, Lobster, or his own observations over time, Hogg was completely certain of one thing: if the Imperium and the Necrons went to war on a full scale, humanity would be the first to perish.
Even with the Emperor and Primarchs on their side—living weapons of war who made no sense whatsoever—they still came up short against the Necrons, who stood at the very peak of physical prowess.
Take the most basic measure of individual combat strength. Hogg could chop through Necron grunts as easily as chopping vegetables, but that was because he could chop through any grunts just as easily. It was like playing Galaxy Brawl: surely a hero unit couldn't be killed by a basic minion, right?
Every basic Necron infantryman had a body made of Living Metal. They might look like a bundle of sticks, but they could travel faster than light under their own power, and one punch was enough to send someone flying right through.
Reality wasn't a string of numbers on a tabletop army list. Gauss Weapons ignored armor completely. Unless you had a protective field that could take a few hits, you might get lucky and ditch your armor to save your life. Get unlucky, and you'd die on the spot.
Just as their name suggested, the Necrons were a race of soulless machines. Death was no end for them. All it took was a little energy, and fresh soldiers would reconstruct themselves
