Family knew family best. The moment he heard that familiar psychic transmission, the Emperor immediately made himself scarce, dismissed his avatars on the spot, and returned to Holy Terra.

Although he had already won the battle to come back from the dead, after all these years, the Emperor had grown used to sitting on the Golden Toilet. And with so many psychic avatars at his disposal, his chronic laziness had flared up, so he simply left his true body upon the Throne.

As mentioned earlier, no one in this world understood you better than yourself. It sounded a little convoluted, but that was exactly how the Emperor felt right now.

Though he usually talked a big game, claiming to be the greatest genius of his age, the Emperor knew exactly what sort of person he was. If the situation back then hadn't been so dire, requiring someone to step up and save humanity, given his temperament, he might well have found some place to hide.

That was why the Great Crusade had been riddled with shoddy work and rushed deadlines. After unifying Terra, the Emperor had never drawn up any detailed plans for the Great Crusade.

Without a clear plan, any military campaign was bound to end in disaster. Yet perhaps the Legions had simply been too capable during the Crusade. Even without proper logistical support, they had nearly conquered the entire Galaxy.

And that had laid the groundwork for the Greater Astartes Doctrine that rose during the Horus Heresy, gradually triggering the Imperium's deepest agony.

If the Four Ruinous Powers were the catalyst, then the Greater Astartes Doctrine, which had already taken root in every Legion by the end of the Crusade, was the military ideology that supplied the rebels with their main fighting force.
