Leng Qingning was still fretting over it, but Le Lingzhao had no such worries.
Her dad was already an old man. If An Lan met him, he could skip calling him Grandmaster and just call him Grandpa!
Le Lingzhao raised her cup and finished the last sip of milk tea, then handed the empty cup to An Lan. He took it obediently and scampered over to a nearby trash can to throw it away.
Watching her beloved disciple's back, the figure in Le Lingzhao's mind shifted in an instant.
Mention the Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu, and she couldn't help thinking of Cai Yue'er, whom she had beaten up just yesterday.
There was no other reason. That woman was simply too bizarre.
They were clearly about the same age, yet Leng Yaozhu and Ya Li both looked younger and more beautiful than ever. The years had only deepened their charm.
Cai Yue'er, on the other hand, insisted on making herself look like a decrepit old woman. The wrinkles on her face could trap flies.
And with a face like that, she still couldn't get over Yun Ming, putting on a lovesick act.
Le Lingzhao silently scoffed. If she were Yun Ming, she'd have slapped Cai Yue'er to death. The woman would be lucky to escape with her life.
Yun Ming had probably been so easygoing yesterday because he was sick of Cai Yue'er.
Leng Qingning wasn't the sort to torment herself with needless worries. Since she couldn't think of a suitable form of address, she simply stopped trying.
When An Lan returned after throwing away the trash, she reached out and ruffled his hair, saying gently, "Just call me Aunt Leng. We Soul Masters cultivate the road to heaven. We don't fuss over empty formalities."
"Okay."
An Lan nodded. Since his teacher had told him to call her that, he naturally had no objections.
The three of them continued strolling.
Suddenly, a slender figure entered An Lan's field of vision.
Her silver hair flowed like moonlight, smooth and utterly free of any other color. Her delicate features looked as if they had been carefully carved into a work of art.
It was hard not to think of the Soul Beast sovereign, a being of unparalleled wisdom.
The Silver-Haired Girl had a clear destination in mind. She headed straight for a chicken cartilage skewer stall by the roadside and tipped her head back, calling out in a crisp voice, "Boss, I'll take all the chicken cartilage skewers you've got! Fry them up, quick. Don't keep me from eating!"
"Sure... Hey, why's it you again, little girl? Shoo, shoo! Don't get in the way of my business!"
The boss's hand trembled. As soon as he saw the girl standing in front of him, his face fell.
He remembered the silver-haired little girl all too well.
He had been running this stall since before Glory Street was renamed, making a living here and supporting his family.
The deal was that you bought a pound of chicken cartilage skewers and got half a pound free. In all his years in business, though, he'd never met a customer who wanted the extra half pound without buying anything.
Yesterday, she'd made his liver ache with anger. If she hadn't been a little girl, he'd have slapped her across the face.
The boss waved her away, but the Silver-Haired Girl didn't look embarrassed in the slightest. Instead, she pulled a thick stack of hundred-yuan bills from her waist and slapped them down on the counter.
She gave a cold snort. "You think I'm still the same person I was yesterday? I'm a distinguished member of the Spirit Pagoda now! I have plenty of money!"
By rights, the inner city was Shrek Academy's territory. If someone flaunted their Spirit Pagoda status there, they'd be lucky to get away without a beating.
But the feud between the two major powers had nothing to do with the stall owner.
At the sight of the money, the boss's face instantly brightened like a cloudless sky. "You got it! I'll fry them right up! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—guaranteed!"
The girl had quite the appetite. Standing by the stall, she cradled the steaming chicken cartilage skewers and gnawed at them with loud, happy smacks.
That astonishing appetite—case closed!
An Lan instantly confirmed the girl's identity. She had to be Na'er, the Silver Dragon King's other half, the one who had inherited her astonishing appetite.
According to the original course of events, Gu Yuena should have been ambushed by Tang Hao while she was in the middle of transforming at this point. After losing her memory, she should have been abandoned in Aolai City, where she would meet Tang Wulin and grow close to him.
So how had she split into two just like that?
An Lan didn't know why Na'er had ended up in Shrek City, but the rest was clear enough.
Yesterday, Na'er had accidentally arrived in Shrek City. With no money on her, she'd tried to get chicken cartilage skewers for free, but the boss had flatly refused.
Then, for some reason, she'd joined the Spirit Pagoda and become rich. Today, she had returned to the chicken cartilage skewer stall like a dragon king reclaiming her throne.
"Good grief..."
An Lan sucked in a sharp breath. This was the real Dragon King—no crooked grin needed.
"Heh-heh..."
Na'er, who had been burying her face in the food, suddenly sniffed. She seemed to have caught the scent of something even more tempting than chicken cartilage skewers.
At a glance, her beautiful silver eyes locked onto An Lan, who had been watching her.
As if possessed, she held up one of her skewers and mumbled through a mouthful, "Want some?"
The moment the words left her mouth, Na'er regretted it.
After being brought back to the Spirit Pagoda yesterday, she'd eaten all sorts of delicious things, but she still couldn't forget the mouthwatering taste of these chicken cartilage skewers.
So today, the moment she got the chance, she'd stuffed some money in her pocket and sneaked out.
These chicken cartilage skewers were so delicious. How could she possibly share them with someone else?
Na'er felt her heart drip blood. In her mind, she could already see the skewers leaving her forever.
It was the first time An Lan had seen so many different expressions on one person's face all at once.
He paused for a moment, then shook his head. "No, thanks. You eat them."
He could tell she was a dragon who guarded her food.
So it surprised him that someone so protective of her food was willing to share it with him.
Seeing that her chicken cartilage skewers had been "returned," Na'er beamed with delight and went right back to devouring them.
"Haha... What a funny little girl. And she's one of your Spirit Pagoda people, too."
Le Lingzhao had watched every one of Na'er's reactions. The girl was pretty, too, so she quickly won Le Lingzhao's affection.
Leng Qingning also smiled at that.
A pretty girl who was so guileless that every joy and sorrow showed plainly on her face was hard to dislike.
For no particular reason, she felt curious. She walked over to Na'er and asked, "Little one, who's your teacher?"
Na'er looked up at Leng Qingning. Seeing that An Lan, the nice person who hadn't tried to steal her chicken cartilage skewers, was standing behind her, she let down her guard and blurted out, "Aunt Leng."
She didn't think much of it. Leng Yaozhu had told her to call her Aunt Leng, so that was what she said.
"Huh?"
"What a coincidence!"
An Lan and Leng Qingning spoke at the same time, both sounding surprised.
At the words "Aunt Leng," the first person who came to mind for both of them was Leng Yaozhu.
Who would've thought they were all on the same side—closer than close?
"That's me."
Just then, a laugh as light and clear as a wind chime rang out, followed by the click-clack of high heels striking the ground.
An Lan turned around and saw a tall figure walking toward them.
Her dark-red hair was like a burning sunset, its tips curling gently as they fell over the hem of her red dress.
She wore a red robe embroidered with dark-gold cloud patterns. As she walked, the fabric fluttered around her like a blazing flame.
Her crimson eyes were bold and dazzling. With every step of her high heels, she moved with effortless grace. She was like a red rose in full bloom, both coolly beautiful and captivating.
An Lan could guess who she was without anyone introducing her.
It was the Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu.
