Background

Murong Huai was originally an outstanding young man from Blue Star—a national top scorer in science and a passionate researcher. When he died and opened his eyes again, he found himself reborn in the world of the last novel he had read, the Douluo Continent. He was confused for quite some time, especially since he had arrived decades before the main plot of the story: the current Pope of the Spirit Hall was Qian Daoliu, a level 97 peak Douluo, while Qian Xunji was not yet thirty and had not attained the title of Douluo, and the protagonist Tang San was not even a glimmer in anyone’s eye 1. Over the first six years of his new life, Murong Huai gathered news of the continent—learning that Tang Chen, the Sect Master of the Clear Sky Sect, had a grandson named Tang Hao who had awakened with Innate Full Soul Power, and that Ning Tianyun of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect had a son named Ning Fengzhi who awakened the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda with an Innate Soul Power of eight and a half levels 1.

What truly grounded Murong Huai, however, was the family into which he had been born. The Murong family was a powerhouse within the Spirit Hall itself. His grandfather, Murong Chayue, was the Heavenly Dragon Douluo and Third Elder of the Worship Hall; his grandmother, Xiao Qingmei, was the Immortal Dragon Douluo and Second Elder of the Elder Hall. His father, Murong Fuhai, held the title of Demon Dragon Douluo at level 93 and served as the Marshal in command of hundreds of thousands of troops. His mother, Wu Xianyun, was a level 83 Soul Douluo, one of the Platinum Bishops of the Spirit Hall and the Palace Master of the Martial Soul Temple 1. The family mansion, the Murong Mansion, stood in the central district of Spirit City, its gates guarded by a troop of black-armored cavalry mounted on Black Flame Horses and wielding Demon Brake Spears—a force that exuded an aura of blood and slaughter 1.

After learning the full extent of his family’s power and position, Murong Huai’s initial confusion gave way to acceptance. He realized that he was, in his own words, “basically invincible” 1. His grandfather doted on him, often taking him for strolls through the city while telling stories of his glory days, though the boy soon grew tired of hearing the same tales repeated dozens of times 1. His grandmother and mother were equally devoted, and the household was filled with love and care. As his sixth birthday approached, the day of his Martial Soul awakening, Murong Huai felt no worry at all—with such a powerful background and three Title Douluos in the family, he was confident he would awaken something extraordinary 2. He had fully embraced his new life, enjoying the comfort and security that came with being the young master of the Murong Mansion, and looked forward to the future that his formidable lineage promised.

Murong Huai awakened the Immortal Lord Nine-Arrival Sword, an Ultimate Metal- and Space-attributed super martial soul, and subsequently awakened the god-level Nine-Headed Chimera, Austin Griffin, as his second martial soul. The latter's emergence produced a terrifying pressure felt throughout Spirit City and even attracted the notice of the God Realm, though Spirit Hall’s senior leadership concealed the incident 3 4. Because of his knowledge and technical expertise from Earth, he also became a major force behind Spirit Hall’s industrial and military development, designing artillery, firearms, machinery, engines, and Soul Tool-related production systems 19 76 180.

After returning to the Dragon Spine Mountain Range, Murong Huai continued training with the remnant souls of the Dragon Kings. He accepted their impending departure and took responsibility for the surviving dragon race, eventually transporting more than 260 dragon-type soul beasts to the Star Dou Great Forest and placing them under Di Tian’s protection 197 208 281 283.
