"Don't talk nonsense. These are children from the orphanage."

Guy shot Obito an annoyed glare.

By then, Kabuto had already run over.

After not seeing him for a year, Kabuto had grown quite a bit taller.

He was nearly as tall as Rin now.

Two children of seven or eight followed behind him, carrying small baskets on their backs. It was unclear what they contained.

"Dad Guy!"

Kabuto ran up, his face flushed with excitement.

Guy shook his head but did not correct the way Kabuto addressed him again.

He had corrected him many times before.

But Kabuto insisted on calling him that, and there was nothing Guy could do about it.

"What are you doing here?" Guy asked curiously.

Kabuto grinned. "One of the younger kids on duty at Konoha's gate spotted you coming back. We figured you'd definitely come to the medical center, so we waited here for you."

"On duty? What duty?" Guy was even more confused.

Kabuto explained sheepishly, "At Konoha's gate, two of the younger boys and girls take turns being 'on duty' every day."

"It's so that when you come back, we'll know right away. Hehe."

Guy froze for a moment, warmth rising in his heart.

The orphanage had no intelligence network of its own.

They could only use such a "clumsy" method to determine when he returned.

He had wanted to say, "You don't need to go to so much trouble."

But the words stopped at his lips.

Though this seemingly "clumsy" method had originally been meant to wait for him, if developed over time, it could become a rather effective means of gathering intelligence.

They could keep track of the movements of everyone entering and leaving Konoha at the earliest opportunity.

The orphanage children were young and inconspicuous.
