Guy destroyed the mental shackle, and Shisui sensed that his technique had been broken.

• Guy received 300 Monk Points, instructed Moyochi En to establish a temporary camp, and left Ninkame with the Yaksha Clan.
• Guy used 1,000 Monk Points to break through the Marrow Cleansing Classic, greatly expanding his senses and clearing his mind.

Kakuzu ambushed Guy at the Land of Hot Water Publishing House, but Guy survived while protecting Takizawa Sakurako. After realizing Guy was not the target he had mistaken him for, Kakuzu tried to leave, but Guy challenged him to fight outside Yugakure.

• Kakuzu's lightning ambush shattered the publishing house's second floor, but Guy's Golden Bell Shield protected him and Takizawa Sakurako.
• Takizawa Sakurako recovered and admired Guy as he placed her behind a safer section of the rubble.
• Guy recognized Kakuzu, while Kakuzu realized the monk was not Might Guy, the target in his bounty information.

Guy fought Kakuzu on the outskirts of the Land of Hot Water and tested the power of his Lightning Division against Kakuzu’s stolen elemental hearts. After Kakuzu weakened Guy’s Thunder Dragon with a combination of elements, Guy began forming an even more powerful technique.

• Kakuzu revealed his Earth Grudge Fear and attacked Guy with Fire Release: Head Moulder.
• Guy summoned a Lightning Division Thunder Dragon, which broke through Kakuzu’s flames and forced him to retreat.
• Kakuzu’s False Darkness lightning attacks barely affected the Thunder Dragon, so he used Water Release and Earth Release to slow it down.

Guy battled Kakuzu with a simplified Thunder God, but Kakuzu used a clever combination of Earth, Water, and Wind techniques followed by a Lightning-Fire attack to cripple it. Convinced he could seize Guy’s power, Kakuzu prepared to attack, and Guy began summoning the Lightning Goddess.

• Guy summoned a simplified Thunder God, which resisted Kakuzu’s Wind Release and pushed him into activating Earth Grudge Fear’s full combat form.
• Kakuzu combined Earth, Water, and Wind Releases to trap the Thunder God in a hardened mud shell.
• Kakuzu struck the shell with a Lightning-Fire combination, causing the forces inside and outside to collide and badly damage the Thunder God.
• Kakuzu, weakened but greedy, mistook the Thunder God’s defeat for an opening to take Guy’s power.

Guy’s Lightning Goddess healed the Thunder God and helped him defeat Kakuzu’s masked monsters. With most of his lives gone and his strength spent, Kakuzu knelt and begged for mercy, and Guy approached him.

• Guy summoned the Lightning Goddess, who healed the battered Thunder God and restored the Thunder Dragon.
• The Lightning Goddess destroyed Kakuzu’s frog-masked monster, and the Thunder God blasted apart his Gyuki-masked monster.
• Guy’s two manifestations overwhelmed Kakuzu’s remaining monsters, killing the fire-masked creature and leaving Kakuzu badly wounded.

• Kakuzu explained that he had attacked Guy because he believed him to be Might Guy, whom he had been tracking for a bounty.

• Shisui’s Complete Body Susanoo pinned the pursuing Thunder God with enormous arrows, but the Lightning Goddess’s ribbons caught its wing and waist as it tried to escape.
• Guy’s Great Luo Buddha Hands transformed into golden dragon claws, which dragged Susanoo toward him and lifted a severed mountain peak.
• Guy brought the peak down on Susanoo, then pounded it with the dragon claws until its armor was destroyed and it was reduced to a battered skeletal form.
