Ch. 576Spirit Mountain Transformed, Two Shinobi Clans

Guy inspected Spirit Mountain’s new roads, farms, hospital, and other construction, approved Moyochi En’s management, and arranged further funding and expansion. Kakuzu then reported leads on potential recruits and warned of issues with the Fūma Clan and the Wind and Rain Clan.

  • Guy saw the terraced fields and winding roads built on Spirit Mountain, and Moyochi En explained how his clan had reclaimed the land for farming.
  • Guy approved Moyochi En’s free medical care policy and ordered the hospital to reward its staff well and punish people who abused its resources.
  • Guy learned that Spirit Mountain had a little over thirty million ryō left and gave Moyochi En an identification token to withdraw more money from Takizawa Sakurako.
  • Guy instructed Moyochi En to use the funds to expand Spirit Mountain and develop nearby land responsibly and with the daimyo’s approval.
  • Kakuzu reported that he had found potential recruits but had encountered issues with the Fūma Clan and the Wind and Rain Clan.

Ch. 577Fūma Clan, the Most Adorable Girl~

Guy reviewed Kakuzu’s report and decided to visit the Fūma Clan in the Land of Rice Fields, hoping to bring its weapons expertise and secret arts under Spirit Mountain’s influence. As Guy and Kakuzu reached the clan’s village, Guy anticipated meeting Kagero, whom Kakuzu had described as a burly, hunchbacked man, while Guy knew she was actually the clan’s most adorable girl.

  • Kakuzu reported that the Fūma Clan had resisted his attempts at persuasion and that he had not yet visited the Fūu Clan in the Land of Wind.
  • Guy explained how the Fūma Clan’s large ninja tools could support Spirit Mountain’s plans and decided to visit them before traveling to the Land of Sand.
  • Guy asked Kakuzu about his replenished hearts, and Kakuzu said he had killed only shinobi from Guy’s list.
  • Guy and Kakuzu reached the Fūma Clan’s declining village after traveling for less than two hours.
  • Kakuzu warned Guy about the clan’s three strongest fighters, including Kagero, the wielder of the Mayfly Ninja Art.
  • Guy recognized that Kakuzu’s description of Kagero as a burly hunchbacked man was mistaken and knew her as the Fūma Clan’s most adorable girl.

Ch. 578A Shoddy Forbidden Technique Usable Only Once in a Lifetime

Guy and Kakuzu entered the Fūma Clan’s village to recruit the clan into Hidden Spirit Village, and Guy appealed to their desire to restore their former glory. He left Kagero stunned after revealing he knew about her clan’s secret forbidden technique.

  • Hatsukiri confronted Guy and Kakuzu, but Kakuzu subdued him with Lightning Release: False Darkness and Earth Release: Mud Swamp.
  • Kagero and another Fūma Clan member intervened, and Kagero identified herself as the clan head.
  • Guy introduced himself as Tathagata, removed his bamboo hat, and invited the Fūma Clan to join Hidden Spirit Village.
  • Guy promised protection and a chance to restore the clan’s glory, while Jigumo questioned why they should trust him.
  • Guy claimed he could wipe out the village and revealed that he knew about Kagero’s once-in-a-lifetime forbidden technique, shocking her.

Ch. 579Subduing the Fūma Clan

Guy pressured Kagero to bring the Fūma Clan into Hidden Spirit Village, offering support for their ninja tools and a way to improve her lethal forbidden technique. Kagero accepted, and Guy sent a letter to Tsunade asking permission to teach her the Yin Seal.

  • Guy told Kagero the Fūma Clan needed a powerful ally and claimed Kakuzu could fight the Kage of the Five Great Nations.
  • Guy ordered the Fūma Clan to join Hidden Spirit Village or leave the Land of Rice Fields within three days, promising funding for their ninja tools.
  • Guy examined Kagero's back and explained that her Floating Forbidden Technique accumulated energy dangerously, then offered to improve it so it would not kill her.
  • Kagero agreed to lead all two hundred and eighty-one Fūma Clan members into Hidden Spirit Village, and the clan members joined her.
  • Guy summoned Trust Turtle and sent a letter to Tsunade seeking her approval to teach Kagero the Yin Seal, while Kagero ordered her clansmen to pack.

Ch. 580Kagero's True Form!

Tsunade tacitly approved Guy teaching Kagero the Yin Seal, though she warned him not to return to Konoha. In the Land of Rice Fields, Guy purified the energy trapped in Kagero’s hump, and she emerged from it reborn with wings and a formed Yin Seal.

  • Tsunade received Guy’s message asking permission to teach Kagero the Yin Seal and sent back a letter that tacitly approved while threatening him if he returned to Konoha.
  • Guy read Tsunade’s reply in the Land of Rice Fields and decided he would return when Kushina gave birth, at most half a year later.
  • Guy began guiding Kagero’s energy and struck her hump to break apart the mutated flesh and impurities while Kakuzu held back the worried Fūma Clan members.
  • Guy purified the energy trapped in Kagero’s hump and directed it along the Yin Seal’s circulation path as the hump shrank away.
  • Kagero rose from the discarded flesh with a jade-green glow, three pairs of energy wings, and a dark-purple diamond-shaped mark on her forehead.

Ch. 581Kakuzu vs. Kagero: The battle for second guardian

Kagero regained her beautiful true form and pledged the Fūma Clan’s loyalty to Guy, who made her and Kakuzu compete for Spirit Mountain’s second guardian position. After Kagero overwhelmed Kakuzu with her speed and poisonous techniques, Guy stopped the fight and declared Kakuzu the winner.

  • Kagero transformed into her restored true body, discovered the Mayfly Technique no longer cost her life, and pledged the Fūma Clan’s loyalty to the venerable Tathagata.
  • Guy made Kagero and Kakuzu spar for the second guardian position, with the loser becoming the third guardian.
  • Kagero evaded Kakuzu’s lightning and attacked him with hallucinogenic bubbles that became corrosive poisonous water.
  • Kagero collapsed the ground with Antlion Technique, trapping Kakuzu in poisonous water until he escaped using his black blood vessels.
  • Guy stopped the battered Kakuzu and declared him the winner, leaving Kakuzu confused about the decision.

Ch. 582Spirit Mountain's Third Guardian, Poison-Repelling Vajra!

Guy stopped Kagero and Kakuzu’s spar after explaining that Kagero’s powerful attack was limited and that her unstable excess energy could endanger her. He named Kagero the third guardian of Spirit Mountain, and she led the Fūma Clan toward Hidden Spirit Village with Guy and Kakuzu.

  • Kagero admitted that Ninja Art: Kagero Foam was her only powerful attack, and Guy explained that continuing the spar would waste her limited strength.
  • Guy warned Kagero not to absorb all the remaining energy at once, explaining that the fight had helped her release excess power and reduce the danger of backlash.
  • As Kagero’s energy wings returned to her forehead seal, Guy lent her his robe, while Hatsukiri found Kakuzu clothes to replace his corroded outfit.
  • Guy formally named Kagero the third guardian of Spirit Mountain, Poison-Repelling Vajra.
  • Kagero ordered the Fūma Clan’s 281 members to leave their declining village and follow Guy and Kakuzu toward Hidden Spirit Village.

Ch. 583Setting Out for the Land of Wind

Guy brought Kagero and 281 Fūma Clan members to Spirit Mountain, where Kagero became its third Guardian Vajra. After giving Moyochi En, Kakuzu, and Kagero instructions for managing Hidden Spirit Village in his absence, Guy set out for the Land of Wind to recruit the Fūu Clan and pursue other plans.

  • Guy introduced Kagero as the Fūma Clan head and appointed her Spirit Mountain's Poison-Repelling Vajra.
  • Moyochi En welcomed Kagero and arranged for Yaksha Clan members to guide the Fūma Clan as they settled in.
  • Guy told Moyochi En, Kakuzu, and Kagero to integrate ninja clans and wandering ninja groups across the Land of Rice Fields, using force against those who obstructed the village.
  • Guy appointed Moyochi En to oversee Spirit Mountain, tasked Kakuzu and Kagero with assisting him, and told them to report major matters at the All Beings Statue.
  • Guy gave Moyochi En a manuscript and further instructions, then left Spirit Mountain for the Land of Wind to recruit the Fūu Clan.

Ch. 584Arrival in the Land of Wind, four small goals

Guy arrived in the Land of Wind and planned a covert investigation of Sunagakure before searching for the Fūu Clan. He slipped past the village’s guarded entrance and entered the oasis village.

  • Guy reached the canyon oasis of Sunagakure and noted how barren the Land of Wind was.
  • Guy decided to check whether Gaara was there, since Pakura had become Shukaku’s Jinchuriki.
  • Guy identified Ziro and his Seven Heavens Breathing technique as a target, and planned to seek Hoichi’s method for restraining Tailed Beasts.
  • Guy planned to investigate Sunagakure’s condition and then find the Fūu Clan in the Land of Wind’s capital.
  • Guy avoided the guarded canyon passage and quietly entered Sunagakure.

Ch. 585Ziro: Please Accept Me as Your Disciple!!!

Guy found Ziro training alone in the desert and discovered that the boy had developed the first two stages of Seven Heavens Breathing. After demonstrating his overwhelming taijutsu, Guy started to leave, and Ziro begged him to become his disciple.

  • Guy tracked Ziro to a desolate cliffside outside Sunagakure and watched him train by punching a boulder.
  • Ziro used First Activation and Second Activation to damage the boulder, then collapsed from exhaustion.
  • Guy recognized that Ziro's malnutrition and lack of guidance had hindered his training.
  • Ziro grew wary when Guy approached, so Guy demonstrated his strength by destroying the boulder with a casual press.
  • Guy offered to give Ziro pointers, then pretended to leave, and Ziro knelt and begged Guy to accept him as his disciple.

Ch. 586Learning Seven Heavens Breathing!

Guy agreed to consider taking Ziro as his disciple if the boy could reach Spirit Mountain under his own power, and offered him immediate guidance on Seven Heavens Breathing. After comparing the technique with the Eight Inner Gates, Guy realized its oxygen-enhancing principle might help him develop Lion's Roar Technique.

  • Ziro asked Guy to take him as a disciple and insisted he would follow him despite Guy being from outside the Land of Wind.
  • Guy identified himself as Tathagata, village chief of Hidden Spirit Village, and told Ziro to reach Spirit Mountain in the Land of Rice Fields to earn his acceptance.
  • Guy offered Ziro basic adjustments and guidance, and Ziro explained how he had developed Seven Heavens Breathing.
  • Guy learned that Ziro could use the first activation, barely attempt the second, and could not withstand the third because of his weak body.
  • Guy compared Seven Heavens Breathing with the Eight Inner Gates and concluded that their combined use would be limited by the body's capacity.
  • Guy recognized that Seven Heavens Breathing's fourfold increase in lung capacity could help him develop Lion's Roar Technique.

Ch. 587Teaching Ziro the Lion's Roar

Guy strengthened the Lion's Roar Technique with Seven Heavens Breathing, then taught the technique and improved breathing guidance to Ziro. He sent Ziro alone toward Spirit Mountain as a test and headed into Sunagakure to pursue Hoichi, who seemed to be with another of his targets.

  • Guy used Seven Heavens Breathing to amplify his Lion's Roar, blasting apart boulders and carving a trench through the rocky ground.
  • Guy taught Ziro the Lion's Roar Technique and refined his Seven Heavens Breathing, while warning that Ziro could only unleash one exhausting strike in his second activation.
  • Guy promised to take Ziro as his disciple if Ziro reached the Hidden Spirit Village through his own efforts.
  • Ziro packed his belongings and left Sunagakure alone for Spirit Mountain, determined to complete Guy's test.
  • Guy watched Ziro depart, then entered Sunagakure's central district to seek Hoichi, who appeared to be with another of Guy's targets.

Ch. 588The little boy in the kettle!

Guy infiltrated a building in Sunagakure to investigate Gaara and Hoichi, whose circumstances seemed suspicious after Karura’s death. He discovered Hoichi’s pipa and the Bunpuku Teakettle, then saw a small boy emerge from inside it.

  • Guy questioned why Karura had died in childbirth even though Shukaku was sealed inside Pakura, and why Hoichi had become Gaara’s bodyguard.
  • Guy found Hoichi meditating and decided to take his pipa, which enabled a technique for extracting Tailed Beasts.
  • Guy planned to seek the extraction technique from Pakura and speak with her on his way back.
  • Guy noticed the Bunpuku Teakettle beside Hoichi and wondered why Sunagakure’s sealing vessel was there.
  • The teakettle’s lid rose, and a two- or three-year-old boy pushed his head out, leaving Guy wondering who the child was.

Ch. 589Take Gaara Away!

Guy discovered that Rasa had made his young son Gaara a false Jinchuriki by putting Shukaku’s leftover chakra inside him and imprisoning him in the Bunpuku Teakettle. Guy took Gaara away with him, but an alarm sounded as they left, and a figure blocked their path.

  • Guy recognized Gaara in the Bunpuku Teakettle and realized Rasa had infused him with Shukaku’s remaining chakra.
  • Guy knocked Hoichi unconscious and offered to take Gaara away.
  • Gaara bit Guy, then accepted a fruit candy and agreed to go with him.
  • Guy wrapped the Bunpuku Teakettle, took Gaara, and headed out of the building.
  • An alarm rang across Sunagakure, and a figure appeared on the road ahead to stop Guy.

Ch. 590Four-Finger Nukite? You're from the Land of Lightning?!

Guy fled Sunagakure with Gaara while Rasa pursued him, mistaking him for a Kumogakure shinobi. Guy withstood Rasa’s gold-dust attack and activated the second stage of Seven Heavens Breathing, preparing to fight back.

  • Rasa confronted Guy over Gaara, but Guy used Lightning Release to accelerate away as Sunagakure shinobi closed in.
  • Rasa recognized Guy’s lightning and four-finger strike as Kumogakure techniques, then attacked him with gold dust as Guy raced toward the village outskirts.
  • Guy decided not to kill Rasa and used the Lightning Division: Lightning Barrier Technique to survive Rasa’s Gold Dust Burial unharmed.
  • Guy told Rasa he could still beat him up and activated Seven Heavens Breathing: Second Activation.

Ch. 591Guy VS Rasa

Guy fought Rasa with enhanced strength and lightning, breaking through Rasa’s Gold Dust attacks and overpowering him. As Rasa flew toward the ground, an unseen ally caught him with a Chakra Thread, leaving Guy facing another opponent.

  • Guy charged Rasa with his enhanced speed and strength, pierced a Gold Dust shield, and fought through a rain of Gold Dust senbon.
  • Rasa used a Gold Dust clone to evade Guy’s attack, then trapped him inside a Gold Dust Coffin.
  • Guy used the Dragon-Grasping Technique to drag Rasa back and seize him by the throat.
  • Rasa activated Gold Dust Burial, but Guy shattered the contracting Gold Dust sphere with Lightning Division: Shock Blast.
  • Guy broke Rasa’s armor and struck his abdomen, sending him flying until an unseen person caught him with a Chakra Thread.

Ch. 592Guy vs. Chiyo

Guy fought Chiyo and Sunagakure’s forces while carrying Gaara, then escaped the village after breaking through her puppet technique. Rasa ordered every available unit to pursue him before he could take Gaara out of the Land of Wind.

  • Chiyo arrived to aid the badly wounded Rasa and attacked Guy with the Chikamatsu Collection of Ten Puppets.
  • Guy used Lightning Division: Thunderclap to disrupt Chiyo’s Chakra Threads and open a gap in the puppets’ formation.
  • Chiyo trapped Guy with Three Treasures Suction Crush while Sunagakure ninja attacked him with a barrage of weapons and techniques.
  • Guy charged into the vortex and broke it with Lightning Division: Lightning Spear, destroying three puppets and sending Chiyo staggering back.
  • Guy escaped toward the outskirts of Sunagakure with Gaara, and Rasa ordered the village’s tracking and interception units to pursue him.

Ch. 593Gaara went "berserk"!

After Gaara’s abduction, Rasa resolved to strengthen his control over Sunagakure, while Guy secretly remained in the Land of Wind to recruit the Fūu Clan. Gaara began to undergo a partial Tailed Beast Transformation inside the Bunpuku Teakettle, and Guy realized the kettle had fused with his body before thinking of a possible solution.

  • Rasa fumed over the Land of Lightning’s attack but recognized how weak his authority in Sunagakure was, and he vowed to create another terrifying weapon.
  • Guy hid deep in the Land of Wind and planned to reach the capital to find and recruit the Fūu Clan.
  • The Bunpuku Teakettle began shaking violently, and Gaara emerged partly transformed as his tailed beast chakra ran wild.
  • Guy used [Kasaya Demon Subjugation] to seal the teakettle, but the technique barely worked because the kettle blocked its effects.
  • Guy discovered that parts of Gaara’s flesh had fused with the teakettle, making it dangerous to pull him free, and he thought of something that might help.

Ch. 594From Now On, Your Name Is Sand Wukong!

Guy used the White Jade Demon-Subduing Prayer Beads to calm Gaara and freed him from the Bunpuku Teakettle, treating his wounds. He told Gaara that his mother, Karura, had loved him, then gave him the new name Sand Wukong.

  • Guy placed the prayer beads around Gaara's neck, calming Shukaku's chakra and halting his transformation.
  • Guy discovered Gaara was fused to the Bunpuku Teakettle and began cutting him free with a Chakra Scalpel.
  • Karura's protective sand stopped Guy until he explained that he meant to save Gaara, then it released his wrist.
  • Guy separated Gaara from the kettle, healed and bandaged his injured legs, and kept him alive with Yang Release Chakra.
  • Guy told Gaara that Karura had named him because she loved him, and Gaara agreed to remember.
  • Guy decided Gaara needed a fresh start and named him Sand Wukong.

Ch. 595Gaara's Gourd, the Final Target

Guy gave Gaara the temporary name Sha Wujing, and the Bunpuku Teakettle transformed into a protective gourd for him. After gaining 300 Monk Points for changing Gaara's fate, Guy took Sha Wujing deeper into the Land of Wind to confront the Fūu Clan.

  • Guy explained the meaning of Sha Wujing's name and told him he could return to using Gaara when he felt ready.
  • The Bunpuku Teakettle fused with sand and remnants of Sha Wujing's flesh, transforming into a gourd that retained sealing properties and Karura's protective will.
  • Sha Wujing accepted Guy's new name, completing Guy's hidden quest and earning him 300 Monk Points.
  • Guy dressed Sha Wujing, placed the new gourd on his back, and set off with him toward the Fūu Clan.

Ch. 596The Capital of the Land of Wind: News of the Fūu Clan

Guy entered the Land of Wind’s prosperous capital and learned that the Fūu Clan was working for a princess to create artificial snowfall. He headed for the princess’s palace to assess the clan and the young weather-controlling prodigy Yota, whom he hoped to recruit.

  • Guy reached the vast oasis at the heart of the Land of Wind and entered its capital openly with Little Sha Wujing.
  • Guy passed the gate by claiming to be a wandering monk and physician seeking herbs and patrons.
  • Guy asked around and discovered that the Fūu Clan was creating artificial snowfall in a Daimyo princess’s private gardens.
  • Guy decided to observe the Fūu Clan and seek out Yota, whose abilities had been exploited by his clan.
  • Guy carried Little Sha Wujing toward the Daimyo Princess’s Palace.

Ch. 597Three Choices for the Fūu Clan

Guy encountered the Fūu Clan after the Princess's guards expelled them for failing to make Yota happy enough to create snow. He offered the clan three choices, leaving them stunned as Yota watched him curiously.

  • Guy saw the Fūu Clan driven out of the Princess's Residence after they failed to make Yota happy enough to produce snow.
  • The clan leader berated Yota for crying, and the boy's tears brought rain over the group.
  • Guy approached the clan and offered to support them through his organization, learning their usual weather-changing fees.
  • Guy offered three choices: work for him long-term for one million ryō a year, let Yota leave with him for ten million ryō, or join his organization for housing, protection, and fair-paying work.
  • The clan fell silent at Guy's offer, and Yota stopped crying to stare at him curiously.

Ch. 598Ten Million Ryō to Take Yota Away

Guy paid the Fūu Clan ten million ryō to take Yota, an orphan whose illness he healed with chakra. He left the clan behind and walked through the Capital of the Land of Wind with Yota and Little Sha Wujing, planning to find local specialties and earn back the money.

  • The Fūu Clan debated Guy's offer and chose to sell Yota for ten million ryō.
  • Guy learned Yota was an orphan, then healed his illness and asked him to come along.
  • Yota agreed after Guy promised he would find plenty of children and make friends.
  • Guy left Yota's clan a pouch containing exactly ten million ryō, and they hurried away with the money.
  • Guy walked through the capital with Yota and Little Sha Wujing while considering how to earn the money back.

Ch. 599You Can Call Me—Kishimoto!

Guy left Sha Wujing and Yota in Katsuyu’s care, then disguised himself as an intelligence broker and visited the Daimyo of the Land of Wind. After using medical ninjutsu to ease the daimyo’s failing condition, Guy offered secrets that could extend his life and ended by calling himself Kishimoto.

  • Guy settled Sha Wujing and Yota at an inn and asked Katsuyu to watch over them.
  • Guy disguised himself as an intelligence broker and persuaded a palace guard to arrange a meeting with the Daimyo of the Land of Wind.
  • Guy examined the daimyo and used Yang Release Chakra to ease his condition, saying he had gained about a year to live.
  • Guy offered the daimyo information about Sunagakure’s funding, the Third Kazekage’s killer, Shukaku’s location, and a way to extend his life.
  • When the daimyo demanded his name, Guy said he could be called Kishimoto.

Ch. 600Reanimation!

Guy met with the Daimyo of the Land of Wind, revealed why the daimyo cut Sunagakure’s funding, and identified Sasori as the Third Kazekage’s killer. The daimyo paid Guy for information about extending his life, and Guy said Chiyo possessed a forbidden technique called Reanimation.

  • The Daimyo of the Land of Wind dismissed his guards after Guy demonstrated precise control of fire by disarming and humiliating a guard without burning his skin.
  • Guy explained that the daimyo cut Sunagakure’s funding because he distrusted Rasa and wanted greater control over the village.
  • The daimyo paid Guy ten million ryō, and Guy revealed that Sasori of the Red Sands had killed the Third Kazekage and turned him into a Human Puppet.
  • The daimyo offered Guy all the treasure in the room for a way to extend his life, and Guy stored it in his sleeve.
  • Guy told the daimyo that Chiyo’s forbidden technique, Reanimation, could help him live another twenty years in good health.
