Background / History
Wei Dong was playing a game on Earth when he transmigrated into the Dragon Ball world and received a choice of bloodlines. He selected Saiyan bloodline despite its low initial combat power because he valued the extreme multipliers of Saiyan transformations above every other option. The System integrated the bloodline into his body and placed him on Namek. 1
On Namek, Nail brought the inexperienced Wei Dong before the Grand Elder, who judged that he lacked evil intentions but also lacked righteousness. The Grand Elder unlocked his potential, though the result was only a one-point increase, then permitted him to undertake the Dragon Ball trials under the Second Elder’s supervision. 1
Wei Dong deliberately expanded the Second Elder’s requirement of 100 Puffball Fungus Trees to 1,000 in exchange for a Senzu Bean Potted Plant. After five years of labor and a wisdom trial, he earned access to the Dragon Balls. His wishes provided a high-speed spaceship and restored the Grand Elder’s youth; he later used a lifespan-extending black water wish and shared half the water with the Grand Elder. 2 3
After leaving Namek, Wei Dong reached Earth shortly after Goku’s death and trained in Otherworld under King Kai. He developed Kaio-ken, used gravity training to rapidly outpace Goku’s raw combat power, and joined the Saiyan invasion shortly before its conclusion. 3 4
Appearance
Wei Dong’s ordinary appearance is only minimally described. His most consistently identified physical trait is his Saiyan tail, which immediately causes others to recognize him as a Saiyan. 3
- Saiyan tail, visible when he first arrives at Kami’s temple. 3
- Super Saiyan 4 transformation covers him in red fur. 32
- His Super Saiyan 4 form radiates enough force to suppress gale-force winds around him. 32
Personality
Wei Dong is intensely power-driven and approaches most decisions through rewards, multipliers, and long-term combat potential. He chose Saiyan bloodline specifically for transformation scaling, routinely accepts System missions for System Coins, and seeks increasingly powerful forms even when he recognizes weaknesses in his own foundation. 1 20 43
He is pragmatic and opportunistic in battle. He uses Senzu Beans to survive otherwise fatal exchanges, lets Goku handle Vegeta when the System reward is better, stalls Frieza for Goku’s Spirit Bomb, and exploits stronger opponents such as Janemba, Broly, Hit, and Toppo to test his own abilities. 5 6 28 31 41 44
His conduct toward others is inconsistent. He shared the lifespan-extending water with the Grand Elder, saved Tien Shinhan, restored Earth after the Shadow Dragon crisis, and intervened to save Trunks’s ruined timeline from Broly. However, he also coerces or provokes people to accomplish his goals, including harshly forcing Universe 6 Saiyans toward Super Saiyan transformation and leaving Videl with Goku’s family to engineer the future existence of Super Saiyan God. 3 4 26 30 31 37 43
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Transformations
Wei Dong’s primary fighting style relies on rapidly escalating Saiyan transformations.
- Selected Saiyan bloodline through the System and retains a Saiyan tail. 1 3
- Earned Super Saiyan by personally killing Frieza. 7
- Developed Super Saiyan 2 and later Super Saiyan 3 through training and combat. 10 20

Kaio-ken
Wei Dong learned Kaio-ken from King Kai before the Saiyans arrived on Earth.
- Reached Kaio-ken ×8 during his initial Otherworld training. 4
- Used ×20 and ×30 against Frieza, but could only sustain the highest multipliers for moments before his body failed. 6
- Used Kaio-ken ×5 to overwhelm Vegeta. 5
- Relied on Senzu Beans to offset the physical toll of pushing beyond his limits. 5 6
Ki Control and Combat Techniques
Wei Dong initially possessed high combat power but poor ki application and combat technique; sparring with Goku substantially improved both. 5 7
- Flight — Learned during his five years on Namek. 3
- Ki Sensing — Purchased from the System for nine System Coins. 3
- Kamehameha — Learned from Goku on Yardrat; frequently used as his finishing move. 7 31
- Instant Transmission — Learned on Yardrat alongside Goku. It initially required a detectable aura, but later he was able to travel without that limitation. 7 36
- Instant Transmission Kamehameha — Combines teleportation with a point-blank Kamehameha attack. 28
- Super Dragon Fist — Earned as the reward for the Universe 6 Hit mission. 40
System Skills
The System provides Wei Dong with missions, rewards, cross-dimensional travel, purchasable abilities, and System Coin-based exchanges. 1 6 40
- Battle-Hardened — Increases his strength gradually during combat; upgraded to Level 10. 7 43
- Precision Strike — At Level 10, gives a 10% chance to hit with complete accuracy regardless of evasion. 39 43
- Mirror Image — Creates physical clones with the same combat power as Wei Dong; he used four clones against the Pride Troopers. 43 44
- Potential Unlocking — Received from the Grand Elder and twice from Old Supreme Kai, producing major base-power increases but temporary control problems. 1 26 50
Equipment / Items
- Senzu Bean Potted Plant — Reward for planting 1,000 Puffball Fungus Trees; produced three Senzu Beans daily. It enabled Wei Dong to endure Kaio-ken overuse and repeated near-fatal injuries before dying after being neglected in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. 2 5 13
- Senzu Beans — Used extensively for recovery, including against Vegeta, Frieza, Broly, and Evil Buu. 5 6 31 37
- Spaceship — Obtained through a Namekian Dragon Ball wish; used for interplanetary travel and gravity training. 2 3
- Gravity Chamber — Used for high-gravity training, including 30-times gravity on King Kai’s Planet. 4
- Hyperbolic Time Chamber — Used repeatedly for years or decades of compressed training; later used to train Universe 6 Saiyans. 11 20 43
- Dragon Radar — Used to locate Dragon Balls in Trunks’s ruined alternate timeline. 31
- Recovery Agent — System-shop healing item given to Goku after Cell disabled his limbs. 13
Relationships
- Grand Elder — Namekian benefactor who judged Wei Dong’s character, unlocked his potential, and permitted him to attempt the Dragon Ball trials. Wei Dong later shared lifespan-extending water with him. 1 3
- Nail — Initially hostile escort and guardian who brought Wei Dong to the Grand Elder and warned the Second Elder to kill him if necessary. 1
- Second Elder — Supervised Wei Dong’s Namekian trials and assigned the Puffball Fungus Tree task. 1 2
- Son Goku — Training partner, ally, and frequent sparring rival. Wei Dong trained with him under King Kai, learned Kamehameha and Instant Transmission alongside him, and repeatedly assists or challenges him. 4 7 33
- Piccolo — Ally who fought beside Wei Dong against Frieza and later trained with Biro under Wei Dong’s broader guidance. 6 18 19
- Biro — Training companion and associate of Piccolo; Wei Dong monitors his Kaio-ken development and brings him into major training opportunities. 18 19 35
- Vegeta — Rival and eventual training partner. Vegeta taught Wei Dong to control Great Ape form in return for help improving his base power. 5 29
- Android 18 — Former romantic partner. They traveled together and lived in an alternate dimension, but had separated by the time Wei Dong trained for Super Saiyan 4. 14 16 32
- Sword Saint — God Rank 2 fighter from an alternate dimension. Wei Dong defeated him in a spar, then stayed near Hundred Furnace Mountain and later went fishing with him. 15 16
- Old Supreme Kai — Reluctant source of potential unlocking and knowledge about divine aura. Their relationship remains tense after Wei Dong repeatedly leaves without fulfilling promised compensation. 25 26 39
- Trunks — Initially attacked Wei Dong in a ruined alternate future, then accepted his help. Wei Dong defeated Broly and saved Trunks’s Earth. 30 31
- Hit — Universe 6 assassin defeated during a System mission; their battle pushed Hit’s combat power dramatically higher. 40 41
