Background / History

In an alternate future timeline, a version known as Old Broly kills Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, and other Z Fighters before destroying Namek. With Piccolo dead, the Dragon Balls cannot be used to revive the fallen. He continues returning to Earth to terrorize the surviving Trunks. 30

Wei Dong enters that timeline to confront Old Broly. The two initially trade blows while Broly's power continually rises; Wei Dong ultimately uses Super Saiyan 3, tests Broly's recovery by feeding him a Senzu Bean, and kills him with a Kamehameha. 31

The later Broly was stranded on a remote planet with his father, Paragus. He loved a large beast named Xiao Lu, but Paragus injured the animal to force Broly to train. During a prior rampage, Broly killed both Paragus and his lover; Frieza and Cooler captured him only after his frenzy subsided, suffering severe injuries in the process. 47 50

Frieza brings the captive Broly to Earth and exploits his resentment toward King Vegeta's family, falsely presenting himself as an opponent of the Saiyans. Broly accepts the call to fulfill his father's revenge and attacks Vegeta. 47

After Broly's berserk rampage overwhelms the Z Fighters and devastates Frieza's forces, Wei Dong defeats him without killing him. Broly states that he does not want to fight and wants a peaceful life, so Wei Dong places him on Android 17 and Android 16's animal-filled island. 48 49 50
