After some deliberation, Nappa ultimately found himself unable to sway Vegeta, and the two embarked on their journey toward Earth.
Given the speed of their Space Pod, it would take a full year to reach Earth, simply because the planet was located in such a remote corner of the galaxy.
After handing Raditz's Space Pod over to Bulma, Son Goku watched her radiant expression. Even if he were duller than he actually was, he could still sense her joy—not to mention that Son Goku wasn't actually stupid, just innocent and naive.
Bulma then promised him that the gravity in the Gravity Chamber could be increased to 100 times normal, and that it could also shorten the time required, with just one week being sufficient.
After all, the basic framework had long been finalized; her father had simply insisted on adding a few extra features, such as a music system.
Upon hearing this news, Son Goku was overjoyed. This meant he could proceed to the next stage of advanced training, following the knowledge He Lingxuan had provided in his mind.
After bidding Bulma farewell, Son Goku returned home, only to discover that although only one day had passed, Son Gohan had already returned.
Son Goku immediately asked Son Gohan what was going on.
Son Goku then heard Son Gohan explain that he had actually been training in a certain place for over half a year: the Hyperbolic Time Chamber at Kami's Lookout. Reminded by his son, Son Goku recalled the place where he had trained during his own childhood.
Back then, he had barely managed to last a short while before coming out. He never expected Son Gohan to endure for seven full months. While He Lingxuan's guidance played a part, one could not deny Son Gohan's level of effort and inner strength.
Suddenly, an idea popped into Son Goku's head: he wanted to spar with Son Gohan to see just how strong his son had become.
After all, having trained under He Lingthuan in such harsh conditions for seven months, his combat power must have increased significantly—perhaps even surpassing his own.
However, having recently recovered from severe injuries, Son Goku's own power had surged, and in his confidence, he assumed he could at least fight Son Gohan to a draw.
With that in mind, Son Goku immediately proposed a spar. Seeing Son Gohan's hesitant expression, Son Goku assumed his son was afraid to fight him, so he repeatedly encouraged Son Gohan to use his full strength.
Son Gohan had wanted to mention that He Lingxuan had trained him to become a Super Saiyan, capable of an instant 50-fold increase in combat power, but seeing his father's confident look, he decided to hold his tongue.
The father and son then arrived at a relatively flat area on Mount Paozu.
This place had once been covered in dense jungle, but it had transformed into its current state ever since Son Goku began using it as his daily training ground.
Standing opposite each other, Son Goku beckoned to Son Gohan and said, "Come on, Gohan! Use your full strength. Let's have a spar."
Hearing this, Son Gohan hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided against activating his Super Saiyan form. He then unleashed a small fraction of his ki.
Just as he did during his daily sparring sessions with He Lingxuan, he appeared before Son Goku in the blink of an eye and threw a punch!
Son Goku didn't even have time to react before the blow landed squarely in his abdomen; the gap in their combat power was simply too vast.
Had Son Gohan not realized something was wrong—having only unleashed a tiny portion of his energy and pulling back most of his strength at the last second—it truly would have been a scene of "filial piety" gone wrong.
Even so, Son Goku was in agony. He collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth, and it took him quite a while to recover enough to stand back up.
Son Gohan watched on, anxious. After all, because of the Senzu Bean, He Lingxuan had always been ruthless when training him.
It could be said that if not for Son Gohan's gentle nature and the fact that he was sparring with his father, Son Goku, anyone else would have been buried six feet under by now.
Once he recovered, Son Goku patted Son Gohan's head to comfort him. "Haha, I'm fine, Dad's okay. Don't worry, I just didn't expect your strength to reach such a level. It looks like I really need to step up my training!"
His words would have been more convincing if he weren't still clutching his stomach with one hand.
Son Gohan felt slightly relieved upon hearing this, though he still helped his father back home.
When Chi-Chi saw Son Goku return in such a state, she assumed he had encountered an enemy and suffered a grave injury.
However, Son Gohan wore an embarrassed expression and said cautiously, "I accidentally hurt Dad while we were sparring, Mom. I'm sorry."
As he pouted, looking genuinely remorseful, Chi-Chi's maternal instincts flared, and she pulled him into a hug.
"My poor Gohan! You've had it so hard!"
She stroked his hair while holding him tighter, then comforted him: "It's alright, don't worry, no need to apologize. Goku is fine; he's tough as leather and will recover in no time."
While comforting Gohan, she shot a fierce glare at Son Goku, as if warning him never to use Gohan as a sparring partner again.
Even though it was Son Goku who was hurt this time, in Chi-Chi's heart, they were both irreplaceable family members. She didn't want to see either of them get hurt.
After some verbal friction, the commotion ended once Son Goku had fully recovered.
Yet, after the squabble, the family felt even closer; there were no lingering petty grudges.
After dinner.
Son Goku waited until Chi-Chi was busy washing the dishes before whispering to Son Gohan.
"Gohan, I'm going to need you to spar with me from now on, is that alright? You can do whatever you want—play or study—the rest of the time."
Son Goku spoke in a consultative tone, and Son Gohan agreed after only a moment's hesitation.
Over the following week, Son Goku and Son Gohan would excuse themselves after dinner for a "walk to digest," but they were actually sneaking off to spar. Fortunately, no further injuries were sustained.
Though it was called sparring, it was essentially Son Gohan providing one-sided guidance to his father, or rather, a battle where he completely crushed Son Goku in terms of combat power.
Although Son Gohan had learned to control his ki, he still couldn't keep it low enough. Even at his absolute minimum, with his base combat power of 4 million, he still exerted at least 4,000 in strength.
Therefore, for Son Goku, who had a combat power of just over 3,000, being crushed was the norm.
As for He Lingxuan, he spent the week eating, drinking, and having fun, occasionally chatting with the members of the Chat Group about the interesting events unfolding across their various worlds.
