Matters Concluded

"It's finally over!"

Shin lowered his arms and murmured to himself. Babidi, the great enemy who had haunted him for so long, had finally been eliminated.

"Wonderful, Supreme Kai! We finally defeated Babidi!"

Kibito rushed over to Shin, shouting excitedly.

They were practically on the verge of holding hands and dancing.

Shin walked over to Gohan and solemnly thanked him.

"Thank you so much for your help, Gohan."

"If not for you, we wouldn't have been able to handle Dabura. I'm afraid Kibito and I would have died at his hands."

"Don't mention it. Even without you, Supreme Kai, I would have wiped out every one of those guys. I absolutely won't let anyone wreak havoc on Earth."

When Gohan spoke of Earth, he clenched his fists, his gaze fierce. He wouldn't let the tragedy of the future world play out here.

"All that's left is the egg sealing Majin Buu."

Shin looked toward the spaceship, whose tip jutted above the ground.

The seven split up, searching the spaceship in different directions.

Gohan held Videl's hand as they hurried through the ship, while everyone else searched on their own.

"Babidi's ship is huge. There are so many levels."

Videl was still reeling from Gohan's strength. She had thought that being able to withstand bullets and rocket launchers with his bare body was already incredible. Then he taught her a single technique, the Kamehameha, and in her eyes, his strength had risen another level. But it hadn't yet reached an unbelievable degree; she could still accept it.

This time, though, the power Gohan had displayed was beyond anything she could comprehend. Her head was spinning, and she simply let him lead her along.

"Gohan, who are you, really?"

Videl tugged at Gohan's clothes and asked the question that had been on her mind.

"Well, how about I tell you all about it once we get home? It's a long story. Would you like to hear it?"

Gohan took Videl's hand and asked.

"Of course. I want to know about your past, Gohan."

Videl squeezed his hand in return.

The mood between them was sweet.

"Hey! I found it!"

Goten's voice came from below.

"Majin Buu's in here! It's glowing, too!"

Everyone hurried over to where Goten was. He pointed excitedly at the enormous glowing egg.

"How amazing!"

Trunks stepped forward and touched the shell. Ugh, it was a little hard—not at all like Buu's skin. Trunks found it a bit off-putting.

Shin was checking Buu's energy level. The indicator was already full!

It turned out that just before Babidi died, he had used his life as the price for a spell, pouring all the energy from the dead into the egg. In an instant, it had filled the energy needed to revive Majin Buu.

Shin was horrified. He rushed over to Gohan.

"Gohan, are you sure you can beat Majin Buu?"

He knew there was a Majin Buu on Earth, and Gohan had personally said he could defeat him. But the terrifying impression Buu had left on Shin made him doubt whether Gohan could really win.

Gohan had just defeated Dabura, but Majin Buu could also kill Dabura with ease. Shin couldn't tell which of them was stronger.

"Don't worry, Supreme Kai. It'll be fine."

Gohan reassured Shin, telling him not to worry.

"Crack—"

The egg split in two, and pink gas billowed out. A while later, after all the gas had escaped, the shell fell to the ground.

Shin thought Majin Buu hadn't revived and was just about to cheer when he saw the cloud of pink gas in the sky slowly contract, shrinking bit by bit until it took on a chubby shape.

Looking at that harmless face, Shin was so frightened he couldn't speak. His body trembled slightly, too.

Gohan naturally noticed Shin's reaction. Sigh. A Supreme Kai, no less, and he's bringing shame to the gods.

"It really is Buu!"

The three kids knew Majin Buu so well that they immediately rushed over and clung to him.

"Who are you?"

As soon as Buu woke up, he saw three children hanging off him. He thought about it for a moment. Hmm, he didn't know them.

"We're your good friends!" ×3

"Good friends?"

"Can I eat them?"

At that moment, Buu was as innocent as a blank sheet of paper. He had no idea what a friend was.

"!!"

This is bad, Shin thought. Something's about to—

He had just started to say that something was about to happen when the next moment left him dumbfounded.

Trunks pulled a piece of chocolate out of his pocket and handed it to Buu.

"This is what you can eat. We're good friends."

As he spoke, he gestured for Goten to explain along with him.

"Yeah, yeah. Good friends."

Goten draped an arm around Trunks's shoulder as they explained together.

Buu took the chocolate, chewed it without even removing the wrapper, then spat it out.

"This doesn't taste good."

"Dummy! You have to take off the wrapper!"

Trunks took out another piece of chocolate, unwrapped it, and handed it to Buu.

Buu took it, sniffed it, then put it in his mouth.

"Mm, delicious!"

Buu happily narrowed his eyes.

Shin's jaw nearly dropped to the ground. Was this really the Majin Buu he remembered?

How could this be?

"Do you have any more?"

Majin Buu asked Trunks.

Trunks and Goten rummaged around for a while before finding one piece of candy. They handed it to Buu.

"This is the last one. The rest are at home."

"Mm-hmm."

Goten nodded.

"Let's go home. There's lots of yummy food there."

Ace chimed in, too.

"Now we can finally play a five-player game!"

"Yeah!"

The three of them cheered together.

Then they started pulling Buu along, ready to head home.

"Are big brother Gohan and big sister Videl coming, too? And those two weird uncles?"

Goten turned to ask the others.

"No, Videl and I have something to take care of, so we won't be going."

"Supreme Kai, are you going?"

Gohan asked Shin.

"I'd like to go and see."

Shin still couldn't put his mind at ease. After thinking it over, he decided he might as well go with them and take a look.

"Then let's go."

Buu went with the three kids and Shin and Kibito back to West City. Gohan and Videl returned to the World Martial Arts Tournament arena. With all that had happened, the strong fighters had either left or died, and in the end, Mr. Satan still won the championship.

Mr. Satan was being interviewed when he spotted Videl and Gohan. He abandoned the interview and hurried over to them, asking with some concern,

"Where did you go? I've been looking everywhere for you!"

"How dare that Spopovich beat Videl so badly! He'd better hope I don't run into him. Hmph!"

Seeing Videl safe and sound, Mr. Satan finally relaxed. Then he said to Gohan,

"You'd better take good care of Videl. If she tells me you've been bullying her, I won't let you get away with it!"

Gohan answered solemnly, too.

"I'll protect Videl, I promise. Please don't worry."

Hearing the seriousness in Gohan's voice, Mr. Satan was reassured.

Mr. Satan waved them away, signaling that they could leave.

"Go on, enjoy your date. I've still got an interview to do."

Without waiting for them to reply, he went back to the interview.

Videl and Gohan exchanged a look, then left as well, returning to Mount Paozu. Gohan was going to tell Videl his story.
