Background

Early life and training

Gohan initially wants to become a scholar rather than a fighter. Gogito recognizes his exceptional potential and removes him from Piccolo's harsh training to guide his development more effectively as a fellow Saiyan 7 8.

Gogito brings Gohan and Chi-Chi to a devastated future timeline, where they meet Gohan's one-armed future counterpart. Witnessing the future world's ruin becomes the decisive reason Chi-Chi agrees to let her son train in martial arts 10 11 23.

Rather than train Gohan directly, Gogito entrusts him to Master Roshi. He believes Roshi can address Gohan's excessive kindness, build his confidence, and teach him the true heart of martial arts 23.
