"My head hurts... where is this?"
Ling Yun pushed himself up from the bed, feeling as though someone had clubbed him senseless before tossing him to the ground and stomping on him for good measure.
A sob drifted over from nearby.
"Brother Kasso, you're finally awake!"
Ling Yun endured the discomfort to look over, seeing a thin, frail little girl frantically wiping tears from her face, crying as if her heart were breaking.
Seeing the girl weep like that, anyone would find it unbearable.
"Kasso?"
Ling Yun was puzzled. Was she calling him?
What was that?
He noticed a tail wrapped around the little girl's waist.
"Argh, ahhh..."
Ling Yun's head suddenly felt like it was splitting open. Two distinct sets of memories were churning in his mind, clashing and seemingly merging into one.
Unable to withstand the agony during the fusion process, Ling Yun blacked out.
Ling Yun, from the 21st century, had made a living renting out the house his parents left behind, spending his days watching Japanese anime—his favorite being Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball.
One night, while rewatching Dragon Ball on his computer for the nth time, he accidentally touched the power switch. A blankness washed over his brain, his entire body went numb, and in the blink of an eye, he arrived in this strange world.
Through the fused memories, he learned that Kasso, the original owner of this body, had been beaten into a critical state by Nappa while trying to protect the frail little girl. Just before death, Ling Yun, having transmigrated, took over the body.
Because Kasso's body was severely injured and on the verge of death, his soul had been shattered into pieces; during the memory fusion, it stood no chance of competing with Ling Yun for control.
Time ticked by, second by second.
Ling Yun finally finished merging the other set of memories.
This is?
This is the Dragon Ball world!
Ling Yun was ecstatic. He had loved Dragon Ball since he was a child. Sometimes, in a fit of "chuunibyou," he would mimic Kakarot transforming into a Super Saiyan—gritting his teeth, widening his eyes, and letting out a roar, imagining he had become a Super Saiyan himself.
He would even shout out loud while taking a shower at night, scaring his parents in the living room—though he would inevitably get a good beating afterward.
After his parents passed away, he became more composed, but he still loved Dragon Ball, watching it over and over without ever growing tired of it.
He never expected that an accidental electric shock would bring him to the Dragon Ball world.
"Saiyan Kasso? I'm definitely doing this!"
Ling Yun was incredibly excited and wanted to laugh toward the sky, but the injuries on his body and the pain in his head made him wince and grimace!
"Brother Kasso, are you okay?"
The little girl's face was covered in tears. She wanted to reach out and touch Kasso's face with her small hand, but she was afraid of hurting him.
Seeing Kasso's expression constantly shifting, she thought to herself, Don't tell me Nappa beat him stupid!
At this thought, the little girl began to cry again, muttering, "Nappa, give me back my Brother Kasso."
Kasso took in the sight of the girl's sorrow. Whether it was due to the influence of the lingering consciousness or not, he felt a deep ache in his heart.
"Little Ausbie, Brother is fine now. Stop crying." Kasso pulled Ausbie into his arms to comfort her.
In his memories, Kasso's predecessor and Ausbie's parents had been comrades-in-arms in the Bardock Squad, but they had all perished during a mission.
Afterward, the two of them lived together and looked after each other. Without parents to care for them, both had grown up thin and frail.
Nappa's family belonged to the top-tier nobility among the Saiyans, and his father was the right-hand man of King Vegeta.
Nappa spent his days following Vegeta, acting like a tyrant. He was extremely arrogant and particularly vicious toward those like Kasso and Ausbie who had no parents.
His predecessor had been hammered by Nappa yesterday, and the only reason Kasso was still lying in bed today was thanks to Ausbie dragging him back.
Kasso felt a slight bitterness in his heart. As childhood sweethearts, his predecessor and Ausbie shared a deep bond. If this little girl knew her real Brother Kasso was already dead, how much pain would she be in?
"Nappa, is it?"
At that moment, Kasso's eyes turned icy cold.
After comforting Ausbie, Kasso decided to put the matter of Nappa aside for now; he was desperate to know what his current combat power was.
Kasso picked up the scouter on the cabinet and used it according to the methods in his memories to measure his power.
"300."
He actually had a combat power of 300!
Kasso was a bit surprised. That was even stronger than the aged Demon King Piccolo!
Thinking about it, it was likely because he had been on the verge of death that his combat power had increased so much.
He also learned from the fused memories that he was actually an elite warrior.
Kasso smiled. An elite warrior, huh?
Not bad. Although he didn't have the legendary Saiyan constitution, it was still much better than a low-class warrior like Goku!
In truth, using birth battle power to grade a Saiyan is somewhat inaccurate. Take Goku, a low-class warrior, who survived near-death experiences time and again, breaking through his physical limits repeatedly; his battle power was always higher than Vegeta's. While one could argue the existence of "protagonist aura," it is undeniable that this Saiyan grading standard is flawed.
Of course, a higher birth battle power does mean a higher starting point, so an elite warrior like Kasso still holds a significant advantage.
This is it, Nappa, prepare to die! Kasso sneered inwardly.
Nappa had just been added to Kasso's kill list. For a guy like him, Kasso didn't feel the slightest bit ruthless or cold-blooded.
Having arrived in this super-dimensional world of Dragon Ball, where the law of the jungle prevails and planets and universes are destroyed at the drop of a hat, he was merely striving to become stronger and to survive.
Kasso sorted through the memories in his mind, though he had no idea what time it was or how long remained until the destruction of Planet Vegeta.
"Ausbie, what year is it now?" Kasso urgently needed to know the era. In the memories he was familiar with, he recalled that Planet Vegeta was destroyed in Age 737.
"It is currently Age 735," Ausbie said, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes with her small hand.
"Only two years left?" Kasso frowned.
Time was running short.
Kasso remembered that in two years, Planet Vegeta would be destroyed by Frieza.
Frieza was a prodigy of the Frost Demon race, and under the warning of his father, King Cold, he had to guard against the emergence of the legendary golden Super Saiyan.
Coupled with the instructions of a certain deity, Frieza would summon all Saiyans away on missions in Age 737 and destroy them along with Planet Vegeta, leaving only a few stragglers behind.
Kasso only had 300 battle power, and he and Ausbie were only five years old. Never mind saving Planet Vegeta, he couldn't even beat Vegeta, let alone defeat Frieza.
Vegeta was the Saiyan Prince, born with 1,000 battle power—undeniably powerful—but in the face of Frieza's 530,000 base battle power, he was no different from an ant.
"No, I must escape Planet Vegeta within two years, otherwise death is certain," Kasso muttered, head bowed.
As long as he left Planet Vegeta, with the memories in his mind, would he really fear being unable to defeat Frieza when the time came?
There was no other way for now; Kasso could only find a way to survive, strive to increase his battle power, and see if he could save a few more Saiyans when Planet Vegeta exploded.
