"Yes, we want to use Instant Transmission, but we need you and Uncle Bardock to cooperate."
Kasso had been a nobody on Planet Vegeta, completely lacking presence. He had been bullied by Nappa and the others, and with neither strength nor status, who would believe his words? Who would follow his orders?
"Speak."
Kasso said, "Over the next ten days or so, I need you to gather a portion of our kin. Little Biel and I will take them out in batches."
Ausbie sat to the side, silent, listening quietly to Kasso.
"Kasso, can you take all of our kin away?" Garis asked anxiously.
Kasso gave a bitter smile. "Uncle Garis, to be honest with you, with the strength Little Biel and I possess, we simply cannot take everyone."
The people of Yardrat were not particularly strong, yet they had developed the divine technique of Instant Transmission. This proved that one didn't need great power to learn it; only talent and mental fortitude were required.
However, to teleport more people or transport them over greater distances, one needed powerful strength to support the effort.
Furthermore, Instant Transmission required a high level of proficiency in sensing "ki." Kasso had only just mastered the basics, and that went double for Ausbie.
Hearing this, Bardock shook his head. "Don't overthink it. We can't take all of our kin!"
?
They both knew they couldn't take everyone, so why was Bardock saying the same thing? Kasso and Ausbie looked at Bardock with confusion.
"Don't forget, King Vegeta is the leader of the Saiyans. The only ones who will follow my orders are the members of my own squad!"
Bardock's tone was filled with helplessness. With King Vegeta in charge, he couldn't command the rest of the race.
King Vegeta spent his days lost in the dream of overthrowing Frieza's rule. If you told him anything now, he likely wouldn't believe you, and might even suspect you had ulterior motives.
This was the tragedy of the Saiyans. After being liberated from the rule of the Tuffle, they had ended up with such a leader—short-sighted and always fearful that someone would appear to threaten his position.
Even regarding the birth of Broly, King Vegeta had chosen to exile him. It was truly the height of stupidity.
"The Captain is right," Garis added helplessly.
Garis had witnessed the Captain's struggles over the years. If not for his immense strength, King Vegeta might have eliminated the Captain long ago!
Because of that strength, he had been constantly suppressed by King Vegeta. Now, there were likely only about a hundred people who would follow the Captain's orders.
"How many of our kin can the two of you take?" Bardock asked again.
Kasso and Ausbie exchanged a glance and made a rough estimate. "We should be able to take about 150 people!"
Bardock nodded; it was about the same number of people he could command.
"Uncle Bardock, go and gather them first. Starting tonight, Little Biel and I will begin transferring our kin." Kasso had no other choice; he would save as many as he could.
Garis and Bardock stood up, preparing to take action.
At this most critical moment for their race, Bardock could not worry about other matters. Even if Kasso said he could only take a hundred or so, it was already enough.
As long as the race wasn't wiped out, the Saiyans would eventually rise again. Once Kakarot could transform into a Super Saiyan, he would surely avenge their kin!
In the dark of night.
In a forest in the northern part of Planet Vegeta.
A dozen or so Saiyans were gathered here.
They looked furtive and terrified, as if they had just heard something horrific and hadn't yet recovered from the shock.
The dozen Saiyans stammered.
"Is this true?"
"I never imagined Frieza was actually plotting against us!"
"I said from the start that Frieza couldn't be trusted."
Just then, Bardock gave a cold shout. "Quiet, all of you."
They were at a time like this, yet they still had the heart to bicker.
The group fell silent immediately upon hearing him.
Bardock glanced at Kasso and Ausbie. The two understood his intent and nodded.
Kasso pointed to two Saiyans and said, "The two of you, hold hands, then grab my shoulders. Do not resist."
Ausbie did the same.
Before arriving, these Saiyans had already learned of Frieza's conspiracy. Bardock had explained what needed to be done, and these Saiyans were fully aware of the upcoming procedure.
Hearing the instructions from Kasso and Ausbie, the Saiyans nodded and stepped forward, cooperating fully.
"Uncle Bardock, I'll be back soon!"
With that, Kasso and the two Saiyans vanished from the spot. The same happened with Ausbie.
Seeing Kasso suddenly disappear, Bardock found it truly miraculous. He had experienced Instant Transmission two hours ago, but seeing it again, he was still amazed.
Bardock looked up. The sky was dotted with starlight, dense and crowded—these were the ships of Frieza's army, surrounding the entirety of Planet Vegeta from space.
Frieza had been exploiting the Saiyan race from the very beginning, constantly issuing missions and forcing them to conquer other planets, only to sell those conquered worlds for a massive profit.
Yet, even after all that, Frieza and his subordinates were preparing to destroy Planet Vegeta and wipe out the entire Saiyan race; Bardock found it hard to believe even as he thought about it.
As early as three months ago, Bardock had a premonition, which was why he had sent Kakarot to Earth, though he still held onto a sliver of hope that the dream had been false.
That was until Kasso confirmed his suspicions!
"It's a good thing we have Kasso!" Bardock shook his head.
Twenty minutes passed.
Kasso and Ausbie suddenly appeared in front of Bardock.
"Hah... huff!" Kasso gasped for air.
He had already taken those two people to a safe planet, one that would take even the fastest ships in Frieza's army half a month to reach.
Kasso had always used Instant Transmission to carry only Ausbie, and he had never transported more than two people at once.
Now, Kasso was so exhausted he was about to collapse.
"Big Brother Kasso, I'm so tired! I have no strength left!"
Beside him, Ausbie lay flat on the ground, tongue lolling out, face drenched in sweat, looking like a little worm as she remained motionless.
"Kasso, what happened to you two!" Bardock asked anxiously.
"It's nothing, just a massive expenditure of energy. Don't worry, I'll be able to get everyone out tonight, just let me rest for a moment."
"You two take a break first!"
Bardock looked at Kasso and Ausbie. Although he was incredibly anxious, Little Biel had no energy left, so everything now depended on Kasso.
Kasso looked at Little Biel and smiled; it was already impressive that she had managed to send two people away, so he would handle the rest.
A while later.
Once Kasso had recovered, he sent another two Saiyans away.
The cycle repeated, and as the night passed, all dozen or so Saiyans were successfully evacuated.
By daylight, Kasso lay flat on his bed, his eyes hollow and his face pale, as if his body had been completely hollowed out.
Kasso found himself desperately missing the Senzu Bean from Earth; once the business on Planet Vegeta was finished, he absolutely had to make a trip to Earth.
Come to think of it, the Senzu Bean had always been a bug in the Dragon Ball world; no matter how severe the injury, as long as the person still had a breath left, a Senzu Bean could instantly restore them to their peak condition.
However, back when Goku was a child, Master Korin hadn't realized the importance of the Senzu Bean and let that chubby Yajirobe eat them all, which led to Goku later wishing he could split a single Senzu Bean in half to make it last.
Over ten days passed quickly, and most of the Saiyans outside had returned.
King Vegeta was still busy arranging a welcome ceremony for Frieza, completely unaware that over a hundred Saiyans had already vanished.
