Power Progression

Background and History

Born on Planet Vegeta to Paragus, Broly was exiled to the desolate Planet Vampa because King Vegeta feared his extraordinary power. Paragus followed him there, but raised Broly as a weapon for revenge and controlled him with an electric shock collar 17 141.

More than a decade later, Kasso and Ausbie found Broly on Vampa. Kasso stopped him during a damaging berserk episode, took him in, and brought him to Planet Sadala. He settled Broly near the Spirit Tree with a house and Gravity Chamber, believing the ancestral planet could help him control his power. After years there, Broly could use his green energy without losing his reason 139 141 143 145 163 164.

Broly later confronted Paragus on Mumu Planet. Angry at his father's treatment of him, he transformed into a Legendary Super Saiyan but remained aware enough to check that Paragus was safe. He subsequently took on the duty of guarding Planet Sadala, including during attacks by Frieza and, years later, Demigra 176 177 185 222 393 496.

Appearance

As a boy on Vampa, Broly wore Saiyan combat armor and had long, unkempt hair and a small facial scar. His later transformations are marked by grass-green hair or energy rather than the gold of an ordinary Super Saiyan 139 177 228.

Personality

Outside combat, Broly is affectionate and straightforward. He quickly grew attached to Kasso, happily shared a Spirit Fruit with him, and was reluctant to be left on Planet Sadala. Even after recognizing that Paragus had used him, Broly chose to visit his father and cared whether he survived 142 144 145 164 180.

He loves a challenging fight and can be playful with other Saiyans, but takes his promise to protect their people seriously. His anger remains formidable after he gains control of his transformations: he can fight while furious without necessarily losing his reason 177 180 187 223 249.

Legendary Super Saiyan constitution

• His power grows rapidly during combat, making drawn-out fights especially dangerous for his opponents 141 163 222 357.
• Earlier berserk episodes outpaced his mental control and could injure his own body. Living on Planet Sadala eventually allowed him to transform without losing his reason 141 143 164 344.
• The strain of his Legendary Super Saiyan state contributes to his growth; for that reason, Whis considers the lower-strain Mystic State unsuitable for him 392.

Ki attacks and combat

• Fires green energy blasts and large-scale attacks, including Gigantic Meteor, which he uses against Frieza's Planet Destroyer Bomb 140 223.
• Favors powerful close-range strikes. He overwhelms Bardock, Sun Wukong, and Vegeta together, and proves able to break through Hit's Time-Skip 248 249 355.
• Raw power is not an automatic answer to evasive tactics: Hit's speed and movement repeatedly wound him before Broly's power surges again 356 357.

Grass-green Great Ape

• Transforms after absorbing Planet Sadala's underground rivers, without requiring a full moon 496.
• Gains immense durability and can continue growing stronger while fighting at Grand Priest-level power 496 497.
• Remains capable of protecting others: he catches falling Saiyans and shields his companions with an energy barrier during his pursuit of Demigra 496.
