Settling the Saiyans

Planet Fell.

"Captain, what are we Saiyans supposed to do now?" Garis looked completely lost.

For the surviving Saiyans, King Vegeta's death was one thing, but with Planet Vegeta destroyed by Frieza, they didn't even have a planet to call home.

Were the Saiyans destined to wander the universe from now on?

Bardock paused at that. "Let's wait for Kasso to come back and hear what he has to say first."

When he'd dreamed of Planet Vegeta exploding, Bardock had only thought to send Kakarot away. He hadn't given much thought to what would happen afterward.

But given the circumstances, the Saiyans were in a difficult position.

Bardock knew of the legend passed down among the Saiyans—the Super Saiyan—and that the Frost Demon Race feared it. Kasso had said earlier that King Cold had ordered Planet Vegeta's destruction. On top of that, there was Cooler, who was even stronger than Frieza!

So the Saiyans now had to avoid not only Frieza's forces, but, more importantly, the entire Frost Demon Race.

Garis nodded. The more than one hundred Saiyans who'd escaped owed their lives to Kasso, so it made sense to hear his opinion first.

From exposing Frieza's conspiracy to moving the Saiyans, Kasso had worked himself to the bone for over ten days without stopping. The surviving Saiyans had seen it all.

Without realizing it, Kasso had come to hold an important place in their hearts. Whenever they faced a problem, he was the first person they thought of.

Just then, with a whoosh,

a little boy appeared on the plain.

"Kasso!"

"Kasso's back!"

The Saiyans sitting on the grass stood up, smiles spreading across their faces.

Bardock hurried over. "Kasso, what happened to Planet Vegeta?"

Garis and Kaster were just as anxious. "What happened?"

The Saiyans standing there watched Kasso with hopeful eyes. They wanted so badly to hear him say that Planet Vegeta was safe and sound.

Kasso walked over slowly and stopped in front of them.

Meeting their eyes, he shook his head helplessly. "It's already exploded!"

Thump!

It was as if someone had doused every Saiyan present with cold water. Their hearts sank completely.

So it really had exploded! Damn Frieza!

Kasso looked around and saw how dejected they all were.

"Interesting!"

Even Saiyans could feel this way. When Kasso had watched the anime in his previous life, Vegeta hadn't reacted at all to hearing that his planet had exploded. He'd seemed utterly heartless.

Thinking about it, most Saiyans were probably like Vegeta.

No wonder this group of Saiyans followed Bardock. And no wonder King Vegeta had made things difficult for him.

After a while,

Bardock shook his head. "Kasso, now that Planet Vegeta's exploded, what are we going to do?"

"I've already made arrangements. We'll rest on Planet Fell for a few more days, then I'll lead everyone back to our true home, Planet Sadala!" Kasso told them what he had in mind.

He'd come up with a plan earlier and had already asked Shenron to restore the Saiyans' true home—Planet Sadala.

Planet Sadala was the best place for the Saiyans to settle. Kasso also had a feeling there was something special about it.

When he'd watched Dragon Ball Super in his previous life, Kasso had wondered whether the reason Universe 6's Saiyans were so strong in their base forms was Planet Sadala.

Of course, that was only a guess. He wouldn't know for sure until he arrived on Planet Sadala.

The Saiyans standing nearby were stunned when they heard the name Planet Sadala.

"Our Saiyans' original home?"

"Planet Sadala?"

"Wasn't it destroyed?"

Planet Sadala really had been destroyed long ago, after a civil war. The Saiyans had later moved to Planet Plant. After they overthrew the Tuffles there, they renamed the planet Planet Vegeta.

Hearing the name Planet Sadala reminded Bardock of the three wishes Kasso had told him he'd made to Shenron.

At the time, he'd thought it was all made up. But if Kasso was saying this now, had Planet Sadala really been restored?

And could all the Saiyans really survive in space now?

At the thought, Bardock suddenly burst into a flare of white aura. With a bang, he shot straight up and flew out into space.

"What's Bardock doing?"

"Captain, where are you going?"

The Saiyans were puzzled. Why had Bardock suddenly flown off?

Seeing this, Kasso smiled. So Bardock hadn't believed the Dragon Ball story from the start!

When Kasso saw Bardock flying skyward, he guessed what was on his mind. Bardock was probably going to test whether those three wishes were real.

As he drew closer to the vacuum of space, Bardock held his breath.

After leaving the atmosphere, Bardock tried to take a breath. If he couldn't, he would fly straight back down.

Looking out at the pitch-black universe, Bardock felt nervous. He hoped those three wishes were real, but he found it hard to believe.

He took a breath.

Bardock felt no air enter his lungs.

His eyes suddenly widened. There was no air in space for him to breathe, yet he could survive there.

It was incredible!

Having gotten the answer he wanted, Bardock returned to the ground and burst out laughing.

"Hahahaha!"

The Saiyans stared at Bardock, confused. What was going on?

Seeing their puzzled faces, Bardock stopped laughing and explained.

"So that's how it is!"

"Does that mean we Saiyans will be even stronger now?"

The Saiyans clenched their fists, thrilled.

Just as expected, Saiyans really were a warrior race. The moment they heard something that would help them fight, they forgot they'd been mourning the destruction of their planet just moments ago!

Kasso smiled helplessly and left them to it.

"Uncle Bardock, where's Little Biel?" Kasso had been back for a while, but he still hadn't seen Ausbie. He found it a little strange.

"Back there." Bardock pointed.

Kasso made his way through the crowd and finally spotted Gine sitting beneath a tree where the forest met the plain, holding Ausbie.

The hulking Saiyans had blocked her from view. No wonder he couldn't find Ausbie.

When Gine saw Kasso, she put a finger to her lips and gestured for him to be quiet.

Kasso looked into Gine's arms. Little Biel was lying there, fast asleep, her chubby little face peaceful.

He gently brushed a finger across her baby-soft cheek.

After more than ten days on the road, even Kasso was nearly worn out. Ausbie must have been even more tired.

Seeing how exhausted Ausbie looked made Kasso's heart ache. He held out his arms to Gine, asking to take Little Biel.

"Ehehe!" After placing Ausbie in Kasso's arms, Gine covered her mouth and giggled.

She'd watched the two little ones grow up, and now they were so attached to each other, just like a young married couple. It looked like they'd become an old married couple someday!

Thinking of that made Gine remember her own childhood. She and Bardock had been just like those two little ones.

Everything felt so familiar!

Gine's lips curled into a faint smile.

Kasso didn't notice Gine's expression. He held Ausbie close, gazing at her snow-white, chubby little face.

He couldn't resist giving her a kiss.

"Hm?" Ausbie seemed to have been woken by Kasso. Her delicate brows twitched, and she slowly opened her eyes.

"Big Brother Kasso~~"

Seeing Kasso, Ausbie smiled sweetly. "You're back!"

Seeing her smile warmed Kasso's heart. He rested his forehead against hers.

"I'm back!"
