The darkness gradually receded. The full moon no longer hung overhead and soon hid behind the distant mountains, half out of sight.
Where the mountains met the sky, a line of pale light appeared. Gradually, golden rays filtered through the gaps between the leaves, speckling the forest floor.
Chirp, chirp, chirp!
Insects chirped. Round dewdrops covered the leaves, and after a while, they gathered together. Under the pull of gravity, one droplet after another slid off the leaves.
Drip!
It fell to the ground!
Hoo~ zzz.
A little boy was snoring, his mouth smacking now and then.
Beside him lay a little girl without a stitch of clothing.
Her black hair spread across the little boy's chest. Her skin was fair, and she was chubby. She had both arms wrapped around his left arm, her head resting on his shoulder as she slept with soft, shallow breaths.
"Yawn!"
Ausbie lightly patted her mouth with her little hand.
"Hm? Why aren't I wearing any clothes? Why does my whole body feel so tired?" Ausbie felt limp all over, without a shred of strength.
Hadn't she been using the toilet last night? How had it suddenly become morning? And where had her clothes gone?
Ausbie's mind was full of questions!
There were many huge footprints ahead. Some of the trees nearby had snapped halfway up their trunks, while others had been uprooted. A thick layer of dust covered everything, and the distant mountain peaks were shattered beyond recognition.
It was a scene of utter devastation.
Had a huge battle taken place here?
"Huh? Who's this filthy kid beside me?"
Ausbie noticed a little boy with tattered clothes and a battered, bruised upper body sleeping beside her.
"Darn it, why is this raggedy kid sleeping next to me?"
Ausbie furrowed her brows and glared angrily at the raggedy boy. She raised her hand and gathered a ball of energy in her palm. The pressure kept building, and the blue light grew brighter and brighter.
Suddenly, the filthy little boy rolled over, turning his head toward her!
A mixture of blood and dirt was smeared across his face. His youthful features looked oddly familiar.
"Why does he look so much like my big brother Kasso?"
Ausbie's pupils shrank abruptly. "Big brother Kasso?"
The deep blue energy blast in her hand vanished at once. Her eyes began to well up, and she immediately crawled over to Kasso and wrapped her arms around him.
She could no longer hold back her tears. They slid down her chubby cheeks.
"Big brother Kasso, what happened to you?" Ausbie cried out loudly!
Ausbie held Kasso against her chest, letting him lean against her.
Kasso was already invincible on this planet. There was no one who could defeat him.
The more she thought about it, the less sense it made. All she knew was that Kasso was badly injured, and it broke her heart.
Tears poured from Ausbie's eyes as if they were free, running down her chin and dripping beside Kasso's lips.
"Hm?"
Kasso slowly opened his little eyes. His battered body was now held tightly in Ausbie's arms, and the pressure kept increasing.
"Hiss!"
Kasso sucked in a painful breath and quickly cried out, "Little Biel, let go!"
"Huh?"
Ausbie froze for a moment, then realized what was wrong and hurriedly released him.
"Big brother Kasso, who hurt you?" Ausbie's expression turned increasingly fierce, and she glared furiously.
As far as she could remember, apart from the time Nappa had hurt Kasso, he had never been injured this badly!
"Phew, it's all right, it's all right! I'll be fine in a few weeks."
Kasso rested his face against Ausbie's bare little chest, took a deep breath, and spoke slowly.
"Who hurt you, big brother? Tell Little Biel, and she'll avenge you." Ausbie held Kasso close and spoke fiercely.
Kasso's nose pressed against her chest. He breathed in her faint, delicate fragrance and rubbed his cheek against her.
"Who else on this planet could beat me? Have you forgotten what happened last night?"
"Huh? Oh, right. Wasn't I using the toilet last night?" Ausbie asked uncertainly.
"What did you see when you went to the toilet last night?" Kasso asked with a rueful smile.
This little girl really had forgotten what happened last night!
"Last night? After I finished using the toilet, I saw a round moon!"
"Ah! A full moon? Then I must have turned into a Great Ape!" Ausbie was stunned.
Every Saiyan on Planet Vegeta knew not to look at the full moon, or they would turn into a Great Ape and lose their reason!
If that was the case, then...
"Big brother Kasso, was I the one who hurt you?"
Kasso didn't want to admit it, but he still nodded.
When she saw him nod, Ausbie started crying again. How could she be so foolish that she'd even attacked big brother Kasso?
What Ausbie didn't know was that Kasso had been lucky she stopped attacking last night and pulled back that enormous foot. Otherwise, he might have been nothing but a lump of mush by now!
Lying in Ausbie's arms, Kasso explained what had happened last night, especially how she had pulled back her foot at the last crucial moment.
Honestly, Kasso had been deeply moved. It was incredibly difficult for a Great Ape that had lost its reason to regain control. In the entire Dragon Ball anime, there had only been a handful of times when someone in Great Ape form remembered who they were!
One example was when Vegeta invaded Earth and Gohan turned into a Great Ape, then turned around and attacked Vegeta.
Another was in Dragon Ball GT, when Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan 4. There might have been others, but those two stood out the most.
With Kasso comforting her, Ausbie gradually stopped crying. But tears still covered her little nose, and even her soft, pink lips had gotten wet.
She sniffled. Thank goodness she hadn't attacked Kasso in the end. Otherwise, she wouldn't have wanted to live!
Kasso didn't blame Ausbie, either. If he hadn't known in advance that a full moon would appear last night, this would have been very difficult to avoid.
If he had been the one to turn into a Great Ape, Kasso couldn't guarantee that he would have regained his reason at the last moment.
Kasso wiped the tears from Ausbie's little nose and stroked her chubby cheeks. "I'm not blaming you, sis. Don't cry. If you cry any more, you won't be pretty."
"But I hurt you, big brother!"
"It's fine. I'll recover in a few weeks. Good thing I've always treated you well. At the last moment, you spared your big brother's life. Hehe!" Kasso teased her.
"Big brother, you're so mean. Hmph!" Ausbie pouted.
"All right, all right. Come on, help me up!"
"Okay."
Ausbie helped him up, and they slowly got to their feet.
"Let's hurry back. By the way, you're still not wearing any clothes."
"Ah! Big brother Kasso, why didn't you tell me sooner?"
A streak of white light flew across the sky. From the ground, it looked vaguely like a little girl carrying a little boy as they flew.
