Gaino's power erupted, and everyone on Earth felt it. The entire planet shook. On his island, Master Roshi sensed the energy and said, "I never imagined that Gaino would reach such a level."
"Well, it looks like I'll have to work hard at my training, too."
Down below the Lookout, Korin was so shaken by Gaino's energy that he did a somersault. "This is just too powerful! Is he even human?"
At Kami's Lookout, the Guardian watched Gaino, his whole body trembling. Was this the result of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber?
He swallowed nervously, then said, "Th-this is unbelievably powerful."
Ever since Gaino's battle power had broken through the million mark, the energy inside him had surged higher and higher. Even when he wasn't training, his energy continued to grow without pause.
Could this be the strength of the Ancient Saiyan Bloodline?
Gaino let his aura fade. The Guardian slowly emerged from behind the Lookout. If the Lookout hadn't blocked most of Gaino's aura, the Guardian felt he would have been blown backward by its eruption.
The Guardian came over to Gaino and said, "I never expected you to become so powerful. It's really quite intimidating."
Gaino smiled. "You flatter me, Guardian. In this vast universe, I'm just a speck of dust, hardly worth mentioning."
"Truly powerful people can destroy a planet with the flick of a finger. My current strength is nothing to brag about!"
The Guardian exclaimed in shock, "Really? Are there people that powerful in the universe?"
"Of course. So my task now is to keep getting stronger. That's what matters most."
"It seems we'll have to train a group of fighters on Earth, too. Otherwise, when disaster strikes one day, Earth will be at the mercy of others."
"Well, Guardian, Laiya and I have finished our mission on Earth. It's time for us to return to our planet. Let's say goodbye here."
"Oh, you're leaving for your planet so soon? All right, then. I wish you a safe journey."
"Okay. Goodbye, Guardian. Goodbye, Mr. Popo."
"Goodbye." The Guardian waved, while Popo nodded woodenly.
Gaino and Laiya flew off. This time, they headed for Capsule Corporation, home of Bulma, who would one day become the world's richest woman.
Gaino and Laiya flew into the air and looked down at the buildings, searching for the Capsule Corporation logo. Suddenly, Gaino spotted an oval-shaped building. Wasn't this Dr. Brief's Capsule Corporation?
Gaino and Laiya landed. Just as they were about to go inside, the security guard at the entrance stopped them. "Who are you here to see?"
"We'd like to see Dr. Brief. Could you go in and let him know?" Gaino said.
"Do you have an appointment? Dr. Brief is busy. You need to make an appointment to see him," the guard reminded them.
"Sorry, we don't have an appointment. Could you please go in and let him know? Just tell him that family from far away has come to see him."
"All right. Wait here a moment while I go tell him."
Before long, the guard returned with a man wearing glasses and a white lab coat. He had a little white beard, and a gentle warmth about him.
Dr. Brief looked at Gaino and Laiya. "I don't think I have relatives like you. Besides, you don't look anything like us. You have tails, and we don't. There's no way I could have relatives like you."
Gaino said, "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gaino, and this is Laiya. We lied and said we were your family because we wanted to meet you. Please forgive us."
The guard said, "You lied to me? You—you're awful!"
Gaino smiled. "Sorry about that, buddy. We just wanted to meet Dr. Brief, so we had to resort to that."
"What do you want with me?" Dr. Brief asked.
"I'd like Dr. Brief to install a gravity system on our spaceship—a Gravity Chamber inside the ship, so we can use it to train."
At the mention of a spaceship, Dr. Brief grew excited. He hurriedly asked, "You have a spaceship? Where is it? Let me see it right away! I've never seen a spaceship before!"
"Sure. Dr. Brief, please hold on to my hand, and I'll take you to our spaceship. Laiya, wait here for a moment."
"Okay." As soon as Dr. Brief placed his hand on Gaino's, Gaino flew into the air and sped toward his spaceship.
The guard watched them fly away. His throat bobbed nervously as he said, "They can fly? What kind of monsters are they?"
Laiya said, "Isn't flying normal? Everyone on our planet can fly. And that's not all—we can do this, too." She pointed a finger, and a beam of light appeared at its tip. A crater opened up right in front of the guard, with black smoke rising from it.
Seeing that, the guard was so terrified he wet himself and collapsed to the ground.
Just then, Gaino returned carrying the spaceship. Seeing Laiya scaring people again, he hurriedly called out, "Laiya, playing around again? Come over here."
Gaino went over to the guard and said, "Don't take it to heart. My little sister just likes to play. We didn't mean to hurt you."
Gaino helped the guard up and quickly calmed him down.
Gaino set the spaceship down. Dr. Brief climbed out, looking utterly thrilled. "So this is a spaceship! It really is completely different from anything built with Earth's technology."
Gaino asked, "So, can you install a Gravity Chamber?"
Dr. Brief pressed a finger to his forehead and thought for a while. "I can, but you'll have to give me some time."
"Sure, no problem," Gaino said.
"I do have a suggestion for Dr. Brief, though. Do you think you could invent a device that makes things shrink? For example, this spaceship is huge. You could install a device on it, and when you press it, the ship would become as small as a capsule. What do you think of my idea?"
"That's a great idea! I've been thinking about something like that, too. It seems we think alike. But the most important thing right now is to build your Gravity Chamber."
And so, Gaino and Laiya stayed at Dr. Brief's home. During that time, Gaino also met Bulma, who would become an indispensable character in the Dragon Ball world. But Bulma was just a tiny baby, only a few months old. After their daily training, Gaino and Laiya would play with her, which saved Mrs. Brief a lot of trouble.
One day, Mrs. Brief said, "Gaino, your Gravity Chamber is ready. My husband asked you to come by the company."
"So soon? Great, I understand, Mrs. Brief. You've put up with us these past few days, and now it's time for us to say goodbye. Here, make sure you take good care of little Bulma!"
"Mm, I will."
"Laiya, let's go." Gaino and Laiya flew straight to Dr. Brief's company.
