Gaino and Laiya set off for the next planet aboard their spaceship.
During the journey, Laiya's curiosity got the better of her. "Big Brother Gaino, what did the Grand Elder of Namek whisper to you? Why was it such a secret?"
"Since it was a secret, I obviously can't tell you."
"Fine, don't tell me. I don't want to hear it anyway."
But curiosity kept driving Laiya to pester Gaino, asking him to tell her what the Grand Elder of Namek had said to him.
When a hard approach didn't work, she switched to a soft one.
"Big Brother Gaino, just tell me, please? I promise I won't tell anyone. Pretty please, Big Brother Gaino?"
Gaino couldn't take any more of Laiya's pleading and relentlessness. "All right, all right, I'll tell you, okay? Just stop shaking my arm."
"Really? Okay, then I'll stop."
Gaino really had no idea what to do with his little sister.
"The Grand Elder of Namek told me to go to Planet Yardrat and learn a secret technique. It lets you reach another place in an instant, so I set our ship's destination to Planet Yardrat."
"A secret technique? What's it called?"
"It's called Instant Transmission. For example, if you were on Planet Vegeta and could sense the ki of anyone on Earth, you could teleport there in an instant."
"Wow, is it really that amazing? I want to learn it!" Laiya cried.
"Learning this technique depends on talent. You can't just decide to learn it and expect to master it," Gaino said.
"Hmph, I don't believe that! I'm so clever, I'm sure I can learn it."
"Sure. Then I hope you learn Instant Transmission, little Laiya."
The spaceship continued on its way. Suddenly, Gaino and Laiya sensed an enormous, distinctly evil ki.
"Laiya, did you sense that?" Gaino asked.
"Of course. That ki is incredibly powerful and evil. I feel like we Saiyans are pretty evil ourselves, but even Saiyan ki has a hint of bloodlust to it. This is different. This is pure evil."
"It's like... like..." Laiya thought for a long moment.
Suddenly, Gaino and Laiya said together, "The Demon Clan! This is the Demon Clan's ki!"
"That's right. It's pure Demon Clan ki. Dad told me that their ki is incredibly evil, and every member of the Demon Clan is exceptionally strong."
"Big Brother Gaino, look! There's a spaceship coming straight toward us!" Gaino looked out through the spaceship's window, and sure enough, a huge spacecraft was heading their way.
"Don't worry. We'll keep going. It'll be best if they leave us alone. If they pick a fight with us, though, we won't hold back."
"Mm." Laiya nodded.
But things rarely went as expected. Just then, the system's voice rang out.
System: Ding! Detected Demon Clan ki. Host must eliminate all demons aboard this spaceship.
Reward: Spirit Devouring Technique.
"Spirit Devouring Technique? What's that?"
The system explained, "The Spirit Devouring Technique allows the host to absorb all forms of ki, demonic energy, bloodlust, divine power, Destruction Energy, and more. The ki absorbed can strengthen the host's base battle power and help the host master the Ancient Super Saiyan transformation more quickly."
"Whoa, is it really that powerful?" Gaino said.
"All right. In that case, there's no need to avoid them."
"Laiya, steer our ship straight toward the Demon Clan's spaceship."
"Huh? Why fly toward them? Didn't you say we could just keep going if they left us alone?"
"I have my reasons," Gaino said.
"Fine! I'm ready for a big fight, too."
Laiya piloted the ship, rapidly closing in on the Demon Clan's spacecraft.

"Report, General. We've spotted a spaceship heading toward ours."
"Oh? Is that so? We've ruled the North Galaxy for so many years, and no one has ever dared to block our ship. Let me see who's bold enough to stop my ship. I am Angila!"
This demon was named Angila. He served Slug, the ruler of Planet Slug, one of the great powers in the universe. Slug was a Namekian, but his parents had sent him to Planet Slug when he was young. Slug had been born with tremendous battle power and an evil heart. After being sent to Planet Slug, he used his immense strength to unite the planet and proclaim himself its king, calling himself the Emperor of the Universe.
Slug was extremely evil. After uniting Planet Slug, he treated his subordinates with great cruelty. If they made even the slightest mistake, he would kill them mercilessly.
Angila was one of Slug's subordinates.
Angila opened the hatch and shouted toward Gaino and the others, "Who are you? How dare you block my divine ship! Do you have a death wish? If you know what's good for you, get out of here now, or I'll wipe you from existence!"
"Big talk," Gaino said. "Come on, Laiya. Let's go see this demon who thinks he can wipe us from existence."
Gaino opened the hatch and looked at Angila across from him. "You're not very tall, but you sure have a big mouth."
Angila was instantly enraged. "Our Demon Clan has ruled the North Galaxy unchecked for years. Even the Frieza Force gives us a wide berth. And you dare show us such disrespect? Then you can die!"
As he spoke, Angila fired a Ki Blast straight at Gaino. Gaino immediately stepped in front of Laiya and held out one hand, stopping the blast. Angila was stunned.
Gaino squeezed his fingers. Angila's Ki Blast burst apart.
Angila panicked. Anyone who could crush his Ki Blast so easily was far stronger than he was. He began to consider retreating.
Seeing Angila's reaction, Gaino said, "You attacked me, and now you think you can leave? Not a chance."
Gaino rushed over to Angila and threw a punch. His fist passed straight through Angila's body, killing him with a single blow.
Angila's subordinates saw Gaino kill him with one punch and trembled as they spoke. "Y-you killed General Angila! King Slug will never forgive you!"
"Slug? The one who calls himself the Emperor of the Universe?"
"That's right! King Slug!"
"So what if he's Slug? If he crosses me, I'll destroy him, even if he is the Emperor of the Universe."
"Laiya, I'll leave the rest to you."
"You always leave the small fry to me. Fine! I'll take care of them."
Gaino returned to his spaceship.
"Big Brother Gaino, I've invented my own attack. Watch closely. I'll show you."
Laiya took off, spreading her arms wide. "Star Burst Annihilation!" she shouted.
Two enormous shockwaves erupted from Laiya's hands, blasting the Demon Clan's spaceship into cosmic dust.
Planet Slug, Slug Palace.
"Your Majesty, the signal from Angila's spaceship has vanished."
"Oh? Is that so? It seems someone destroyed it. Can you pinpoint where it disappeared?"
His subordinate replied, "Yes."
"Good. Then I'll go there myself. Prepare the ship. We're leaving."
