Gaino saw everyone stand up straight and addressed them all. "Since you've chosen me to be your king, I'm going to lay down a few rules."
As the saying goes, without rules, nothing can be done properly.
First: Saiyans must not bully the Tuffles indiscriminately.
Second: Saiyan battles must not damage the homes people live in.
Third: the Tuffles must use their technology responsibly and not misuse it.
Everyone must remember these rules. Anyone who breaks them will be punished.
"We'll remember the king's rules," everyone said in unison.
"Good. Then head back. You've all worked hard today, so go get some rest."
"Dr. Laika, stay behind for a moment. I have something to discuss with you."
"What do you need me to do, my king?" Laika asked.
Gaino said, "Being called 'my king' makes me uncomfortable. Let's change that to something else."
Laika thought for a moment, then said to Gaino, "Then how about Lord Gaino?"
"Sure, that works. Call me that from now on."
"Laika, I want you to use your scientific knowledge to build Gravity Chambers—ones suited to Saiyan training."
"Can our current technology build them?"
Laika asked, "How many Gravity Chambers would you like, Lord Gaino? How much gravity should they have, how large should they be, and do you want any other features?"
Gaino thought it over. The Gravity Chambers should use the gravity of Planet Saiyan as their baseline, with a maximum of five hundred times that gravity.
With the Saiyans' current strength, five hundred times gravity should be enough for now.
As for the size, make each one large enough for five people to train in.
Also, it would be best if they could shower after training and then enjoy a good meal.
And ideally, every Saiyan home should have its own Gravity Chamber.
Oh, right. We've just arrived here and don't have anywhere to live, so build houses for us at the same time.
"All right, I understand. Is there anything else you need, Lord Gaino?"
"That's everything. If you run into any difficulties, just let me know."
"Our planet's current technology is enough to handle these basic construction projects."
"Can our technology detect things in space yet?"
"Well, we're not advanced enough for that yet. But I think that, given enough time, we can create instruments to detect things in space."
"All right, then. Let's leave it at that for now."
"Laika, do we have an infrared monitoring system for Planet Saiyan? If someone approaches the planet, it could detect them and sound an alarm, giving us time to respond and attack any hostile intruders."
When Laika heard this, he said to Gaino, "That's a great idea. I'll start researching the technology right away so Planet Saiyan can have an alarm system like that. It really is a brilliant idea."
"Oh, we don't have one yet? All right, then. Get started on the research."
"All right, I'll get to it. By the way, Lord Gaino—"
"Is there something else?" Gaino asked.
"Could Iso help me? He used to be my assistant, and he understands most of my ideas and methods. That would make the work go faster."
"Sure, no problem. I'll have Iso help you."
"Thank you, Lord Gaino." With that, Laika went straight home.
The next day, Gaino gathered all the Saiyans and had them help the Tuffles. The Tuffles provided the technology, while the Saiyans provided the muscle. Three months passed, and the Saiyan homes were built in no time.
The finest of them all was the home built for Gaino, the new king of the Saiyans.
When his own house was finished, Gaino couldn't help marveling at how efficient the Tuffles were. He hadn't expected them to build it so quickly.
Gaino walked toward his home. Looking at the magnificent building before him, he said, "Laika, is this a house or a castle? Isn't this a little too extravagant?"
"I only wanted a place to live. You went and built me a castle. You really didn't need to do all this."
Laika replied, "Lord Gaino, as the king of Planet Saiyan, your home ought to stand out. Otherwise, if visitors come to our planet, how will they know who leads it?"
"If all they see are identical houses, what will they think of Planet Saiyan? But this is different. Your castle will catch their eye first, and they'll know you're our king."
"Your home is unique, unlike any of the others. None of them can compare."
Gaino saw his point and said to Laika, "You've gone to a lot of trouble, Laika."
Laika said, "It's only right that I give Lord Gaino my very best."
"I didn't expect an old man like you to start flattering people too."
"Lord Gaino, I'm not flattering you. I'm just telling the truth."
"Fine, then. I'll accept your kindness. By the way, how's the construction of the Saiyans' Gravity Chambers going?"
"Reporting to Lord Gaino: thanks to the joint efforts of the Saiyans and Tuffles, all the Saiyans' homes on our planet have now been built."
"Construction of the Gravity Chambers is ninety percent complete. There's just a little more to do."
"Good. Completing such a massive project in just three months is already incredibly fast."
"But finish the remaining Gravity Chambers as soon as possible. If Planet Saiyan is going to survive in the universe, we need a powerful military to protect us."
"You're right, Lord Gaino. I'll have them hurry and finish the remaining Gravity Chambers so the Saiyans can begin training as soon as possible."
"Lord Gaino, please go ahead and look around your home. I won't keep you any longer."
Gaino waved his hand and said, "Go on and get back to work."
"I'll take a look at your handiwork." Laika took his leave and went to finish building the remaining Gravity Chambers.
Another month passed, and all the Gravity Chambers were complete. That day, Gaino gathered all the Saiyans together and addressed them. "Starting today, Laiya and I will train you for half a year. I hope you'll complete my training over the next six months."
At this, all the Saiyans grew excited. They knew Gaino was incredibly powerful, and that his training must have played a major part in making him so strong. Now that he was going to train them, they believed that if they could stick with it for the full six months, they too would become much stronger.
