Night.
After giving the little white-haired ball a hot bath and changing her into fresh clothes, Su Mingyue threw together a simple dinner for two.
The little white-haired ball had tried to help, but after Su Mingyue gave her a head-patting attack, she obediently waited to be fed.
So once he had brought all the dishes to the table, Su Mingyue began feeding Na'er.
"...You can't remember anything from before?"
Watching her gobble down the food on his spoon, Su Mingyue took the opportunity to ask gently.
"Mmm, I can't remember, big brother~" Na'er shook her head lightly, her beautiful violet eyes narrowing in contentment.
"I see." So this split personality really was carrying on the Douluo series' classic style.
Su Mingyue gave up asking Na'er questions. After gently feeding her, he finished his own dinner.
He fixed up a room for her, then returned to his own.
But before he could close the door, Na'er was already standing in the doorway, pillow in hand, looking at him expectantly.
"...I understand. Come in." He sighed softly and stepped aside.
Seeing Na'er patter over and launch herself onto the bed, Su Mingyue smiled and closed the door.
Night deepened, and the moonlight and starlight grew brighter.
On a cliff where waves surged below, a black-haired girl stood facing the sea.
Though the fierce sea wind blew against her again and again, she felt only warmth. There even seemed to be faint, strange blushes on her cheeks.
"My Lord."
At that respectful call, a handsome, broad-shouldered, black-haired middle-aged man dressed in black appeared behind the girl.
With him were a voluptuous, purple-haired woman; a gentle, green-haired woman; and a tall, refined middle-aged man.
"How is it? Have you found any trace of that fellow?"
Suppressing the sensations feeding back into her body, the black-haired girl asked as calmly as she could.
"...Forgive us, my lord. Your other personality is now as pure as a spirit newly born between heaven and earth. We truly can't find the slightest trace of her."
The black-haired middle-aged man at the head lowered his head. His respectful words carried a hint of self-reproach.
"Then keep looking for her. That fellow! He's gone too far!"
Deep embarrassment flashed through her eyes, and the black-haired girl's delicate body trembled despite herself.
Fortunately, the men and women behind her had all lowered their heads respectfully, allowing her to maintain the dignity of their lord.
"We understand! But, my lord, have you truly decided to join that so-called Spirit Pagoda?"
The black-haired middle-aged man answered respectfully, then couldn't help asking.
"That was decided long ago. There's no need to discuss it." She gazed up at the bright moon and spoke coolly. "If I want to truly understand human technology,"
"joining the Spirit Pagoda is undoubtedly the quickest way. Besides, one of its higher-ups has taken an interest in me."
"If nothing unexpected happens, I'll soon become her disciple."
As she spoke, the image of a red-haired, gentle beauty gazing warmly at her drifted through her mind.
She wasn't as capable as reading minds outright, but the black-haired girl could sense human emotions perfectly well.
And the red-haired beauty who wanted to take her as a disciple—the woman who claimed to be the Spirit Pagoda's vice tower master—
had felt nothing but kindness and delight toward her.
"...We understand." x4
Having understood the black-haired girl's decision, the people behind her bowed respectfully and said no more.
"Keep looking for her. Also, keep an eye out for a man called Ming Yue."
She withdrew her gaze, bit her lip, and issued another quiet order.
"Yes, my lord!" x4
They answered respectfully. Though they were puzzled about who this so-called Ming Yue was,
the men and women behind her nodded firmly all the same, then vanished with a burst of rushing air.
Silence settled over the area. Aside from the girl's slightly quickened breathing, only the howling sea wind and the waves crashing against the shore broke the stillness.
"Ming Yue... Why would the Plane Spirit give me information and instructions like that?"
Her lovely, flushed face tilted upward. Gu Yue was clearly baffled by the message the Plane Spirit had sent not long ago.
But when she thought of how she was about to become the disciple of the Spirit Pagoda's vice tower master,
Gu Yue couldn't help sighing.
What, exactly, were humans like?
The next morning.
As soon as he opened his eyes, Su Mingyue felt as if an octopus had wrapped itself around him.
He looked helplessly down at his chest. Just as he'd expected, the little white-haired ball's head occasionally nuzzled against him, while her hands and feet twitched now and then.
"It's daytime." He poked her soft, pale cheek and sat up gently.
"Mmm..." But when faced with the poking attack on her cheek, the little white-haired ball only nuzzled against him and puckered her lips, letting out a cute little sound.
"There's still plenty to do today. If you don't get up, big brother's going to have to get rough."
As he spoke, Su Mingyue pulled back the covers and pinched her delicate little nose.
"Mmm—gah!" Unable to breathe, Na'er instinctively opened her little mouth.
But when he quickly pinched that shut too, she opened her beautiful eyes in bewilderment.
"Heh heh, you really are a sleepyhead, Na'er." He let go, then rubbed the moisture on his finger across her pink lips, smiling as he watched her.
"Tell me, then. We went to sleep separately, so how did I end up as your big body pillow when we woke up?"
As he spoke, Su Mingyue couldn't resist stroking her dry, soft white hair.
"Mmm, because big brother is so warm. Na'er likes it~"
Her beautiful violet eyes never wavered. Su Mingyue felt his heart skip a beat.
"You like it? Then keep liking it." Smiling faintly, Su Mingyue picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.
After washing up, he made a simple breakfast. Once he'd fed her as he had the night before, he led Na'er to the basement where he usually cultivated and conducted experiments.
He took some Martial Soul Awakening equipment from the Void Archives and pointed to a small platform.
"Today, I'll help Na'er awaken her Martial Soul first. Then we'll go to the Spirit Pagoda and make a show of it."
"Once they've recorded her results there too, Na'er can go to school with me."
He adjusted the machine as he spoke. Having once been the Spirit Pagoda's tower master, Su Mingyue found awakening Martial Souls as easy as eating or drinking.
Besides, as the other half of the Silver Dragon King, Na'er had the Silver Dragon Spear as her Martial Soul. An ordinary person probably wouldn't be able to awaken it anyway.
So Su Mingyue would personally awaken her Martial Soul first, then take Na'er to the Spirit Pagoda to go through the motions. That would give her a fairly reasonable identity.
It was also a little selfishness on Su Mingyue's part. Rather than let Na'er run away from home someday and enter that shit-like place to become some Dragon Spear Goddess,
he'd rather keep her by his side. Being a little white-haired ball would make her happier anyway.
