Bayonetta stood atop the Astronomical Tower, gazing out at the distant dark-purple sky. Ordinary people educated in materialism might have considered it a natural optical phenomenon, while the religiously superstitious might have taken it as some kind of revelation. But as a Psionic, the Witch could see the danger and truth behind this anomaly. Bayonetta and Jeanne had shut themselves inside the Emperor's top-floor office to keep their excessive supernatural charm from affecting the work outside—or so they claimed. In truth, the information they needed could all be obtained through the office's glass portholes, and the areas they could access were extremely far from the work zones. As Psionics, their second sight was far more precise than artificial radar. Even though they were not skilled in divination, they could still hear about the movements of the Outer Dimensions from the pets they kept in the lower realm.
