Background / History

Shrek Academy is a long-standing, continentally prominent institution with ten thousand years of accumulated reputation, resources, and talent. Despite its flaws, Long Jinyu considers its foundation and talent pool among the continent’s best. 128

By the time of Long Jinyu’s arrival, the academy faces several internal problems: a shortage of male students, harsh teaching practices, a rigid class system, technological backwardness in Soul Tools, and a graduation requirement tied to dangerous Supervision Group missions. 9 24 83 132

Its status as “the foremost academy under heaven” is challenged by the Sun Moon Empire’s Soul Tool development. During a Sea God Pavilion meeting, Long Jinyu argues that rejecting Soul Tools would leave Shrek stagnant and vulnerable. 85

Organization

Sea God Pavilion

The Sea God Pavilion serves as Shrek’s senior decision-making body. Mu En, Xuan Zi, Yan Shaozhe, and other high-level academy figures participate in its deliberations. 40 83 128

Long Jinyu receives the Sea God Pavilion Master Token from Mu En, granting him a place in Pavilion deliberations and a means to influence Shrek’s future direction. 40 128

Supervision Group

The Shrek Supervision Group conducts missions beyond the academy. Xuan Zi invites Long Jinyu to join in order to gain experience and protect other students. 69

The group’s former graduation requirement—completion of twenty missions—is later abolished after the danger it posed to students becomes a central concern of the reforms. 132

Soul Tool Department

The Soul Tool Department is led by Xian Lin’er. It receives Long Jinyu’s ninth-grade fixed-installation Soul Tool shell, Cinderflame Dragon Might, prompting a Sea God Pavilion debate over modernizing Shrek’s approach to Soul Tools. 83
