Chapter 8: Big Client
Although Konoha seemed like a good place to visit, after seeing Tsunade's expression, Shen Mo understood.
She wanted to tie him to Konoha.
That wouldn't do.
There were plenty of rich people in Konoha, and there were plenty elsewhere too. More importantly,
as a mysterious merchant, he couldn't give anyone the impression that he could be restricted.
"If Miss Tsunade is willing to introduce some customers to me, that would naturally be even better." Shen Mo chuckled. "Through the Badge, you can contact me anytime, anywhere. If any customers want to buy Jars, I'll rush over at once."
"There's no need to make things so troublesome. Just come with me." Tsunade crossed her arms over her chest, her tone leaving no room for argument, Haki spilling out.
"That won't do." Shen Mo's smile didn't change as he stood up. "I still have many customers. Then, Miss Tsunade, farewell."
After giving an elegant bow,
before Tsunade could make a move,
there was a soft bang, and he vanished like a phantom.
A short-distance Phantom Shift worth seven hundred Trading Points.
"Lady Tsunade!" Shizune couldn't help crying out.
"A space ninjutsu?" Tsunade furrowed her brows, but soon shook her head as if rejecting the thought herself. "No, it doesn't seem like it."
As the granddaughter of the First Hokage, she had naturally seen the space-time teleportation ninjutsu developed by her second grandfather, the Flying Thunder God Technique.
But what had just happened was completely different.
A spatial technique from the New World?
After thinking for a moment, Tsunade abruptly stood up.
"Shizune, we're going back to Konoha."
The matter of the New World merchant had to be reported to the Third Hokage as soon as possible. Besides, they had to gather enough money to purchase the resurrection as quickly as possible.
After leaving Konoha for several decades, Tsunade had decided to return for the first time.
Whatever consequences this would bring had nothing to do with Shen Mo. Right now, he was wandering around this small city.
It seemed quite peaceful.
But it felt like walking through some sort of film set. In Shen Mo's original world, towns with houses this low were already rarely seen.
"So what should I do next?"
Shen Mo casually exchanged for a chicken leg and leaned against a wall, gnawing on it as he watched the few pedestrians on the street. Suddenly, a powerful sense of loneliness swept over him.
Alone in the New World.
His mind sank into the system. After realizing he had transmigrated, he had immediately tried to search for an option to purchase a "return to Earth," but he hadn't found one.
As for customization,
it only displayed, "Insufficient Trading Points."
At least hope hadn't been completely cut off.
"Forget it. There's no use thinking about it." Shen Mo quickly finished the chicken leg in his hand and wiped his mouth. "How much would it cost to customize an identity-search service? Hmm, this small town only needs a little over thirteen hundred? Then let's find the richest person."
In the Naruto world, the strongest were definitely the ninjas.
But the richest? That wasn't necessarily true.
Ninjas didn't engage in production, and they were far fewer in number than ordinary people. In the end, this world was nominally still governed by ordinary people. The money in the hands of merchants and nobles might not be any less than that of the ninjas.
And in this town,
the head of the Kitahara Family, the man with the highest status and the most wealth, Kitahara Yuki, was enjoying dinner.
He was already over fifty.
He was extremely old and haggard.
His face was covered in wrinkles, but he naturally possessed an air of authority. That might have come from his exquisite clothes, or perhaps from the wealth and power in his hands.
Suddenly,
with a soft bang, a person appeared abruptly in front of him.
"Who are you?"
Several figures rushed over in an instant.
They were ninjas maintained by the Kitahara Family.
Shen Mo wasn't flustered in the slightest. He merely silently thought,
Exchange: Mirror Space.
In an instant, an enigmatic atmosphere rapidly spread, and an invisible barrier enveloped him and the Kitahara family.
The magic from Doctor Strange's world consumed two thousand Trading Points to open a small space for ten minutes.
But its effect was excellent.
The ninjas outside abruptly stopped.
Each wore a suspicious expression as they searched around. Though they were clearly close at hand, they seemed unable to see anything at all.
This turn of events made Kitahara Yuki spring to his feet, his eyes wide. His two sons were even worse, trembling as they backed away. One shouted and screamed, while the other at least knew to stand in front of his father.
"Hello."
Shen Mo had already changed into a neat tailcoat. Holding a small, exquisite Round Staff, he smiled faintly and greeted the three members of the family before him.
"What is this?"
"Did you do this?"
"Who are you? What do you want!?"
Kitahara Yuki hadn't spoken, but his tense body and slightly trembling palms showed that this bizarre scene had frightened him.
The ninjas outside, including the Guardian who was supposedly a Jonin, seemed completely unaware of anything. After a moment, they actually left.
Although he didn't know how the person before him had done it,
there was no doubt.
This was someone he had no way to resist.
"Please allow me to introduce myself." Shen Mo bowed elegantly. "I'm a merchant, a merchant who sells special products."
He gently waved the cane in his hand.
Ten small Jars appeared silently before them.
"I think you may be interested in my products, Mr. Kitahara." The corners of Shen Mo's lips curled into a smile.
"A merchant?"
Kitahara repeated the word, looking at the Pottery Jars. He felt a little more at ease. As long as the man wanted money, this wasn't the worst possible situation.
"These aren't ordinary Pottery Jars." Shen Mo seemed to know what he was thinking. With a smile, he spoke unhurriedly. "For countless years, we've traveled through countless worlds, selling miraculous Jars to people. They contain all sorts of incredible wonders. If a customer is favored by luck, they might even obtain eternal life, immense power, or endless wealth and status. So, Mr. Kitahara, would you like to try a set first?"
Kitahara found Shen Mo's words difficult to understand.
But given the current situation, he seemed to have no power to refuse.
He was about to speak when Shen Mo interrupted him.
"Your money is all ready."
As if he had known in advance what Kitahara was going to say, Shen Mo waved his staff again. Piles of coins, including gold, silver, and other treasures, appeared before them.
All of it belonged to the Kitahara Family.
It belonged to the Kitahara Family head standing before him.
The customization service had consumed five thousand Trading Points.
Kitahara Yuki took a deep breath. He even saw his mother's ring among the treasures, one that had been kept in the most hidden place in the room. Even with his close ties to the ninjas, he had never heard of such mysterious methods.
But with abilities like these, why not simply seize the wealth?
"We only complete sincere, genuine transactions." Shen Mo smiled. With a wave of his hand, another Calming Technique descended. "So, customer, you have nothing to worry about."
At this moment, he was also incomparably excited.
This Kitahara Family
actually possessed wealth worth more than ten million Trading Points!
All his effort had paid off! Before the transaction had even begun, he had already spent nearly ten thousand just to put on a show!
