Building Ties with Lu Jing'an

When Lu Jing'an visits the Peacekeeping Bureau, Wen Ling serves him tea, obtains a phonograph for him, and helps direct his financial support toward the bureau. She later gives him a disappearing note explaining that a pure-gold phonograph horn is needed for full use. 13 14

Tiger Demon Case

Wen Ling supplies key intelligence on the Tiger Demon, including its Chang Ghost ability and its vengeful nature. She cannot directly join Lu Jing'an's plan in an official capacity, but agrees to observe the operation with Kui Shan and Lin Qingya. 35 41 42

During the ambush, she identifies Lu Jing'an's controlled phosphorus fire. After the Tiger Demon nearly destroys Lu Jing'an's consciousness with a soul attack, Wen Ling provides him a handkerchief and acknowledges that the bureau failed to anticipate the demon's mental assault. 43 44

Ghost-Faced Ape Operation

After the Tiger Demon's death, Wen Ling brings Lu Jing'an a dossier on demonic beasts while cautioning him against making the Peacekeeping Bureau appear aligned with the Lu Family. She later negotiates his support for the Ghost-Faced Ape operation: the bureau receives white phosphorus, while Lu Jing'an receives the beast's corpse. 49 50
