The moment Du Mu heard the security guards shouting, he thought he had been exposed.

However, those footsteps did not approach his area but instead headed toward the other side of the building.

It seemed someone else had broken into the building as well.

"Another expert?"

Du Mu was slightly surprised, but the current chaos provided him with a convenient opportunity.

Taking advantage of the security forces being drawn away, Du Mu swaggered toward his target office and once again pulled out the Master Key to unlock the door.

He quickly scanned the room, his gaze soon locking onto a seemingly ordinary mural on the wall.

In his vision, the edges of the mural were emitting a faint, "interactable" white glow—a typical quest trigger marker.

"I love games that don't require me to use my brain."

Du Mu immediately stepped forward to examine the mural.

Sure enough, he soon discovered a hidden compartment behind the mural, inside of which was embedded a small safe.

Du Mu used the Master Key to open the safe, which contained some neatly arranged notebooks—yes, the proper kind.

Quest item acquired with ease!

Du Mu shoved all the ledgers into his game inventory and turned to leave.

Just then, footsteps echoed from the office doorway.

Du Mu looked toward the sound and saw a familiar red figure standing in the hallway: it was Matt, wearing his Daredevil suit.

"Yo, isn't this Lawyer Matt? Long time no see. Are you out for a midnight stroll too?" Du Mu greeted him in a relaxed tone.

Matt: "..."

Who goes for a stroll in a place like this in the middle of the night?

Matt clearly hadn't expected to run into Du Mu here again, and his expression turned solemn in an instant.

He took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "Please hand over the ledgers you just took. Those are important criminal evidence against The Hand; you cannot take them."

"Do you know anything about first come, first served?"

Du Mu curled his lip. "And besides that, what use are ledgers to a blind man? Can you even see the words on them?"

"As a matter of fact, I can."

Du Mu didn't believe him; he pulled a pen from his game inventory and wrote a few characters on his hand.

"Then tell me what characters are on my hand."

"I don't know."

"And you call that being able to see words?"

"What you wrote on your hand is 'I don't know'."

Matt was speechless.

Is there something wrong with this guy's brain?

Du Mu was also surprised; Matt's sensory ability was simply too outrageous—he could actually "see" text.

He looked at the other man with suspicion. "Lawyer Matt, are you actually blind or just faking it? You wouldn't happen to be one of those perverts who pretends to be blind to teach girls piano while secretly watching them change clothes, would you?"

How did it get back to perverts again?

The corner of Matt's mouth twitched uncontrollably. "Can you give me the ledgers now? This evidence needs to be handed over to the police."

"No."

Du Mu refused decisively and said cheerfully, "Handing them to the police is such a hassle with all that red tape. It's better to just hand them over to us at S.H.I.E.L.D.—a professional team with high efficiency!"

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Matt quickly searched his memory, confirming he had never heard of any official law enforcement agency by that name.

However, judging by the behavior of this lunatic Du Mu, this organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. was clearly not a legitimate one either.

Just as Matt was about to retort, his keen ears caught a trace of an extremely subtle disturbance.

The next moment, over a dozen figures dressed in pitch-black ninja garb emerged from the shadows, appearing silently in every corner of the hallway and surrounding both Du Mu and Matt at the office entrance.

"It is you again, Daredevil! To dare provoke The Hand time and time again—this time, you shall surely die!"

The lead ninja in red spoke in an icy, bone-chilling voice.

Suddenly, he whipped his right hand, and several shuriken shot straight toward Matt!

Matt reacted with lightning speed, performing a high-difficulty side-step to evade the attack.

The red-clad ninja did not hesitate; he drew a katana from his back with a backhand motion and charged at Matt with a low growl!

In an instant, the two were locked in combat, the sounds of their fierce struggle echoing out.

As for Du Mu, he was likewise surrounded by several black-clad ninjas wielding katanas.

They gripped their blades with steady, powerful postures and sharp gazes, clearly all masters of the sword.

Du Mu pulled a Watermelon Knife from his left hand and said coldly, "Don't blame me for not warning you; I know kung fu."

The ninjas surrounding him remained indifferent, turning a deaf ear to his words.

With a flicker of movement, they charged simultaneously at blinding speed, several chilling flashes of steel slicing viciously toward Du Mu's vital points from every angle!

Even a martial arts expert would be defeated by a coordinated strike like this!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunshots rang out abruptly, and the four ninjas collapsed to the ground!

Du Mu blew the white smoke from the muzzle and shook his head, "I warned you already."

Seeing this, the faces of the other ninjas stiffened.

You call this kung fu!?

Yet, there was no fear on the ninjas' faces; without slowing down, they brandished their katanas and charged at Du Mu, fearless of death!

Unfortunately, no matter how fast they were, they were not faster than Du Mu's American-style Iai.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang--!

Du Mu raised his Golden Desert Eagle and fired in rapid succession, sending these sword masters to their graves.

In less than a few seconds.

The only one left on the field was the red-clad ninja locked in a fierce struggle with Matt.

Catching a glimpse of the pile of his comrades' corpses at Du Mu's feet from the corner of his eye, a flash of rage crossed his gaze.

"Baka yarou! I will make you shini shini!"

The red-clad ninja spat out his native tongue, ignoring his entanglement with Matt, and spun his body violently. Gripping his katana with both hands, he lunged straight at Du Mu with astonishing speed!

Bang!

Du Mu raised his hand and fired a shot!

However, the red-clad ninja twisted his wrist sharply, holding his katana horizontally in front of him, and actually deflected the bullet with the blade!

Du Mu was slightly surprised, but he did not continue firing.

He gripped the Watermelon Knife in his left hand, watching as the red-clad ninja rushed toward him with violent killing intent.

"Shini!!"

The red-clad ninja raised his katana high with both hands, putting all his strength into a wild downward slash at Du Mu's head!

Just as the blade was about to fall, Du Mu suddenly raised the Watermelon Knife in his hand.

"Parry!"

Clang--!

The Watermelon Knife and the katana collided fiercely, emitting a crisp and loud sound of clashing metal!

The red-clad ninja felt a powerful reactive force travel from the hilt, causing him to stagger backward uncontrollably, his body falling into a strange state of paralysis, unable to move!

"Nani!?"

The red-clad ninja's eyes widened, his pupils filled with disbelief.

But before he could recover, a flash of the Watermelon Knife swept past, cleaving his head clean off!

Matt, standing to the side, tried to call out to stop him, but it was too late.

"You're killing again."

Matt's voice was low, his expression grim.

Du Mu glanced at him with disdain, "This is called self-defense. Do you even know the law, Matt the lawyer?"

Matt: "..."

After finishing off the red-clad ninja, Du Mu saw another group of black-masked ninjas pouring out from the end of the corridor, brandishing katanas and charging toward them with murderous intent.

Du Mu's expression turned solemn as he shielded Matt behind him.

"Matt the lawyer, there are too many of them. Watch for my signal in a moment, and we'll run in different directions!"

Matt: "?"

Without waiting for Matt to react, Du Mu shot him a look, turned around, and bolted.

The signal had been given, after all.

As for whether Matt saw it or not, that was none of his business.
