History
S.H.I.E.L.D. deployed Phil Coulson and Du Mu to locate Tony Stark in the Middle East. Du Mu located Stark in a terrorist camp, and the pair helped secure his rescue after the camp was eliminated. 2 6 Soon afterward, Nick Fury ordered the agency to seize Stane's secret research facility and secure its Steel Armor technology before it could fall into hostile hands. 16 17
The agency repeatedly intervened in anomalous incidents, assigning Du Mu to investigate mass disappearances in the Bronx, protect Bruce Banner from General Ross, investigate The Hand, and discreetly monitor Thor after his release from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. 19 30 43 51 It also recovered Captain America from the Arctic and placed him under high-level protection before his awakening. 62
During Loki's Tesseract operation, Loki controlled Nick Fury and several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, turning the director's authority against the organization. Fury's controlled forces attacked S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, while Hill assumed command of the Helicarrier and activated the Avengers Initiative to counter the wider invasion. 87 89 91 After the Battle of New York, S.H.I.E.L.D. recovered Loki's Scepter and the Tesseract, though Thor took the Tesseract to Asgard. Fury was temporarily removed as director, and Hill became acting director. 95
Hydra's infiltration was later exposed as far deeper than initially suspected. Du Mu's whitelist of genuine agents contained fewer than one-third of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s personnel, revealing that Hydra operatives held many essential posts and had been embedded since before Fury's tenure. 173 Hydra intended to use Project Insight's three Helicarriers to eliminate anyone identified as a future threat. 170 174
Du Mu captured Alexander Pierce, stabilized Hydra's internal network, and suspended Project Insight by exploiting flaws in its targeting algorithm. 175 176 He then placed Fury in charge of managing the embedded Hydra network, while maintaining ultimate control himself. 177
S.H.I.E.L.D. later faced a Skrull infiltration crisis. Du Mu used his Fiery Eyes of Truth to identify disguised Skrulls through the headquarters surveillance feeds, while Hydra operatives and legitimate agents captured or eliminated the exposed infiltrators. 250 The agency then mobilized its intelligence, operations, logistics, technology, interrogation, and counterintelligence departments to locate Skrull bases and rescue the replaced humans. 251 253
By the time Du Mu received Level 9 clearance, S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to assign him missions, though he delegated routine work to Skye and Team X. 324

| Tesseract crisis | Loki used the Tesseract to control Fury and attack a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. 87 | The Avengers were assembled; S.H.I.E.L.D. recovered Loki's Scepter after the Battle of New York. 89 95 |
| Project Insight | Hydra altered the targeting algorithms of three Helicarriers to eliminate potential threats. 170 174 | Du Mu halted the program after seizing Pierce's Hydra network. 175 176 |
| Skrull counter-invasion | Skrulls infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. by replacing agents and using stolen memories to sustain their disguises. 250 251 | The infiltrators were purged, and S.H.I.E.L.D. launched coordinated rescues of the imprisoned originals. 251 253 |
