Background / History

Ye Zhentian led the reclusive Kirin Ye Clan while hoping his son, Ye Ruilin, would become the family’s means of returning to prominence on the continent. When Ruilin awakened the unique Auspicious White Qilin with Innate Full Soul Power, Ye Zhentian recognized his immense potential and arranged for his first soul-ring hunt. He initially trusted Old Wu to accompany the boy because of the servant’s loyalty and strength 1.

He clashed with Ruilin after the latter chose a fire dragon soul ring instead of the physically enhancing rings prescribed by the clan. Viewing the decision as a rejection of ancestral precedent and family responsibility, Ye Zhentian expelled Ruilin from the Ye Family, demanding that he prove his chosen path alone 2. Despite the severity of the expulsion, he later visited Ning Fengzhi and asked the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to look after his son 4.

As Ruilin’s accomplishments became evident, Ye Zhentian shifted from opposition to active support. He defended his son’s independence from clan interference and vowed to protect him from internal factions targeting him 10. Ruilin subsequently sent him an immortal herb, which evolved his martial soul into the Milu and raised him to level 96 45.

Ye Zhentian’s conflict with his younger brother, Ye Zhenting, escalated after the latter allied with the Star Luo Empire. During the attack on the Ye estate, he defeated the Star-Shattering Douluo, severely wounded the Rock Elephant Douluo, and used the Four Symbols Seal to prevent Ye Zhenting from self-destructing 83 85. He then stabilized the clan by allocating the captured spirit bones according to the elders’ strengths and beginning the controlled dissemination of the Qilin Blood Qi Ultimate Technique 86 87.

Following Nether Douluo’s assault on the crippled Ye Zhenting, Ye Zhentian accepted Ruilin as a strategic partner in responding to the Star Luo Empire. Together, father and son planned to use the Three Clans Competition to strengthen the Ye Family’s position and seek cooperation with the Xu Family 93. Years later, he helped consolidate the family’s power and participated in the establishment of the Qilin Nation 140.

Ye Zhentian is a man past his thirties with an upright, imposing build and a commanding presence. He commonly wears dark clan robes, including a dark-red patriarch’s robe embroidered with nine golden Qilin 79 98.

Ye Zhentian is blunt, prideful, and deeply committed to the Ye Family’s revival. His belief in tradition initially made him unable to accept Ruilin’s unconventional cultivation path, leading him to disown his only son in anger 2. However, his actions show that the expulsion was not indifference: he immediately sought protection for Ruilin and later refused to allow the clan elders or Ye Zhenting to dictate his son’s future 4 10 46.

He is fiercely protective of family members, including those who have wronged him. When Nether Douluo crippled Ye Zhenting, Ye Zhentian reacted with visible grief and fury rather than satisfaction 92. As patriarch, he favors practical decisions that strengthen the whole clan, whether distributing war spoils, sharing cultivation techniques, or cultivating outside alliances 86 87 140.
