Background / History

Kakashi attended the Ninja Academy alongside Shita Genichi, Uchiha Obito, and Might Guy. Initially aloof, he stood out early for his combat ability and interest in swordsmanship; he and Genichi agreed to spar with blades after racing through Konoha together 3 7.

As Hatake Sakumo's son, Kakashi trained extensively in Konoha-style kenjutsu. He consistently outmatched Genichi in their early spars, but also recognized Genichi's progress and the lethality of his iaijutsu 20. During a mission, Kakashi's squad was wiped out and their captain, elite jōnin Mimura Hamaki, died covering his retreat.
