Elder Xiong first accompanied Wang Sheng into the Star Luo Forest. He treated Wang Sheng sternly but protectively, teaching him to remain vigilant while personally dealing with dangers such as the Ghost Cat and a masked attacker. When the attacker drew him away, he had already hidden Bear King Protection within Wang Sheng's shadow, ensuring the boy had a safeguard against an ambush. 5 6

After Wang Sheng disappeared, Elder Xiong searched for him. Their reunion came amid a battle in Wind City, where Elder Xiong killed an enemy Spirit Douluo immediately upon arriving and blocked the fleeing hostile forces. 44

At Rank 88 and over seventy years old, Elder Xiong believed he had little hope of reaching Titled Douluo. Wang Sheng offered him the Marrow Cleansing Sutra in exchange for joining the fabricated Shaolin sect; Elder Xiong accepted without hesitation, regarding Wang Sheng as the Explosive Bear Clan's future patriarch.
