"Mmgh—I'm exhausted."
Fujimaru Ritsuka sat up in bed and stretched, rubbing his eyes as he sleepily got to his feet.
"Fou." Fou, curled up beside the pillow, yawned along with Fujimaru Ritsuka before hopping onto his head in just a few bounds.
"Ow!" Still weak from having just woken up, Fujimaru Ritsuka was nearly knocked over by Fou. He was not particularly surprised, though, merely reaching up to pat Fou, who was already sprawled atop his head. "Morning, Fou."
"Fou!"
After quickly washing his face and brushing his teeth, Fujimaru Ritsuka left his room with a headband on and a toothbrush still clamped between his teeth.
Today, he had the rare chance to take a day off. It would have been fine to laze around a little, but unfortunately, Chaldea was situated amid an unknown expanse of ice and snow. It was freezing enough to kill someone outside, and there was nowhere to spend a vacation. Otherwise, Fujimaru Ritsuka really would have wanted to take the day off somewhere else.
Maybe environmental simulation would work?
Still brushing his teeth, Fujimaru Ritsuka thought about it groggily.
"Ah, Senpai, good morning."
"G'mornin', Mash." Fujimaru Ritsuka continued brushing his teeth as if nothing were wrong.
"...Senpai, please take the toothbrush out of your mouth before you speak." Mash sounded somewhat helpless.
Finding a trash bin, Fujimaru Ritsuka spat out the toothpaste foam, then rinsed his mouth with the water in his cup. He gave a little chuckle. "All right, let's try that again. Good morning."
"Mm. Are you going outside Chaldea again today?" Mash smiled, carrying a stack of documents as she walked beside Fujimaru Ritsuka.
"I'm on vacation today." Fujimaru Ritsuka patted Mash on the shoulder. "Still, it's really cold outside Chaldea. I feel like I haven't experienced summer heat in ages
