Someone Who Should Be Executed

It had been a week since the Dead Servants surrounded them. In that time, the Thirteen Cities Joint Examination had been held. Zhao Menghua had shown up to take the exam even though he hadn't fully recovered from his injuries. Lu Mingfei didn't know what to say about that. All he could do was admire him.

But this time, the top scorer wasn't Zhao Menghua, who usually took first place. It was Lu Mingfei, the suddenly risen genius.

Legend had it that Lu Mingfei had always been an unknown, the kind of person nobody noticed. Apart from the fact that everyone knew he liked Chen Wenwen, he had no distinguishing features.

Then one day, he'd suddenly had an epiphany and changed his look, and everyone realized he was a handsome guy in hiding.

That would've been the end of it, but later, word got around that his class had run into a pack of wolves while camping.

Then the legendary Chu Zihang had appeared and handed Lu Mingfei a sword. Each of them wielding one, the two had fought until blood ran in rivers, holding out for official rescuers to arrive. Together, they'd protected the entire class.

Apparently, Lu Mingfei and Senior Brother Chu were fellow disciples in swordsmanship and each other's rivals. Lu Mingfei had simply kept a low profile before and never shown what he could do.

After they returned to school, some hooligans from another school came to Shilan High School to bully the girls.

On the basketball court, Lu Mingfei guarded a basket of balls. He threw them one by one, and each ball knocked someone flat. He was incredible. The one passing him the balls was the school belle, Su Xiaoqiang.

After that battle, Lu Mingfei dazzled everyone and shot to the top of the List of People Who Should Be Executed, becoming its true number one after Chu Zihang. Not a single student in the whole school objected.

As Lu Mingfei walked back to class, he could see plenty of people looking his way.

"Is that Senior Brother Lu? He's so handsome!" the girls around him whispered.

Lu Mingfei turned and glanced at them.

"Senior Brother Lu is looking at me."

"Don't be ridiculous. He's looking at me!"

The girls covered their mouths, gazing at Lu Mingfei with stars in their eyes.

When did walking around school become like this?

Lu Mingfei walked along, marveling to himself.

"What kind of girl do you think Senior Brother Lu likes?" one girl asked.

"I heard he might like Chen Wenwen. Does that mean we don't have a chance?" the girls whispered among themselves.

Lu Mingfei was speechless. Even though they'd spoken quietly, he'd still heard them.

Why did everyone know he used to like Chen Wenwen? He'd kept it so well hidden!

With a complicated mix of feelings, he returned to class and sat down at his desk.

Seeing the complicated expression on Lu Mingfei's face, Su Xiaoqiang waved a hand in front of him, curious. "Hey, hey. What's wrong? You look distracted."

"Nothing. I was just thinking about something pointless," Lu Mingfei replied.

Then he held out his hand without a hint of shame. "Today's snacks."

Su Xiaoqiang rolled her eyes. "Eat, eat, eat. That's all you ever do."

She took the snacks she'd packed for Lu Mingfei out of her schoolbag and started feeding him.

"Ah—open wide."

Su Xiaoqiang picked up a potato chip and put it in Lu Mingfei's mouth.

Lu Mingfei leaned over and ate it, then snatched the whole bag of chips from Little Goddess's hand. As he ate, he said, "One chip at a time is too slow. I'll just hold the bag myself."

"Whatever!" Little Goddess said, looking displeased.

"Senior Brother Lu, you're the talk of the school now. Why not eat the snacks the girls are bringing you?" Su Xiaoqiang teased.

"What are you always thinking about? Calling me Senior Brother Lu is too much. I only eat your snacks because we're close. I don't even know those girls."

As he spoke, Lu Mingfei patted her on the head, telling her to stop asking such pointless questions all the time.

"By the way, I heard a girl confessed to you yesterday. She's even the class belle. How did you answer? Did you say yes?"

Su Xiaoqiang pretended not to care as she asked, then pricked up her ears to listen closely to Lu Mingfei's answer.

Seeing Su Xiaoqiang looking so eager for gossip, Lu Mingfei suddenly felt like messing with her.

"I said yes." Lu Mingfei paused on purpose. He'd just been about to say, what did it matter if he'd said yes or no?

But then he saw Su Xiaoqiang's face turn deathly pale, all the color draining from her.

"Hey, hey! What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?" Lu Mingfei hurriedly put his hand to her forehead. She didn't seem to have a fever, and he couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Lu Mingfei wondered if he should release his Zanpakuto to dispel whatever negative influence was affecting her.

Su Xiaoqiang's face pale, she asked, "Did you really say yes?"

"Of course I didn't. I was joking. I hadn't finished what I was saying. But that doesn't matter now. Do you want me to take you to the infirmary?" Lu Mingfei asked anxiously.

Su Xiaoqiang's color slowly returned. She looked at Lu Mingfei, then stomped hard on his foot, furious. "I'm fine. It's just my period!"

Seeing how angry she was, Lu Mingfei didn't dare talk back. He just thought she was being angry for no reason.

Su Xiaoqiang ignored Lu Mingfei for several classes. It wasn't until lunch break that he ventured to tell her, "Remember to drink plenty of hot water!"

Su Xiaoqiang covered her face, thinking that this guy was an idiot and she shouldn't have gotten mad at him. After taking a deep breath, she invited Lu Mingfei to have lunch with her.

The two of them went to the school cafeteria together. The students inside kept glancing at them. Their looks and bearing were far above everyone else's, and people couldn't help making way for them and letting them get their food first.

After getting their food, the two sat together. Su Xiaoqiang picked all the meat from her bowl and put it in Lu Mingfei's, saying she had to watch her figure and couldn't eat meat.

Lu Mingfei looked at Su Xiaoqiang. She was wearing a red plaid skirt, a loose white sweater, warm black tights, and square-toed leather shoes. It was the Shilan High School uniform, and she looked full of youthful energy in it.

Lu Mingfei picked up the meat and held it out to Su Xiaoqiang. "Your figure's already great. Have some meat. You're not feeling well today, so you need to take better care of yourself."

A warm feeling welled up inside Little Goddess as she looked at Lu Mingfei.

"Mm!" Su Xiaoqiang opened her mouth and took a gentle bite.

"I knew from the start that my cousin Lu Mingfei was no ordinary person. Look at him now. Isn't he just as impressive as Senior Brother Chu?" Lu Mingze boasted to the girls in his class.

"In that case, could you introduce your cousin to us?" one of the girls around Lu Mingze asked.

"My cousin's just been too busy lately. He gets a whole stack of confession letters every day. I'd need to catch him when he's free to introduce you," Lu Mingze said confidently.

"Look, isn't that your cousin?" one girl said, pointing at Lu Mingfei and Su Xiaoqiang's table.

All the girls turned to look at Lu Mingze.
