The extra money Asuna wanted Li Yu to earn was actually quite simple: it involved setting up a Position Magic, specifically the one Li Yu had been working on.
"Since you know how to set up a Position Magic, Li Yu, how about you set one up at my place too? I can pay for it." Asuna extended the invitation to Li Yu with great sincerity.
Hearing this, Li Yu was somewhat surprised and couldn't help but ask immediately, "Are you providing the materials? Or do you expect me to?"
If that were the case, Li Yu certainly wouldn't refuse; he truly hadn't expected that he could actually make money this way!
Upon hearing Li Yu's question, Asuna smiled and replied, "Just tell me what materials you need, and I'll go prepare them."
"So, I'm basically earning a labor fee, right? How is this stuff usually priced?" Li Yu scratched his head. He really didn't know anything about this side of things, so he had no idea how to charge.
"As far as I know, the setup fee for a small Position Magic usually starts at ten thousand. You might want to look up the specifics yourself?" Asuna blinked as she shared what she knew.
She wasn't lying to Li Yu; that was roughly the going rate. This stuff was incredibly expensive, and generally speaking, aside from large institutions, few people would go out of their way to install them, let alone in their own homes.
The larger the magic circle, the more expensive the price. Something like the one at school would probably cost hundreds of thousands if you hired someone to set it up.
Li Yu's eyes lit up. He really hadn't expected this stuff to be so pricey. This was a windfall of epic proportions!
"Alright, I'll look it up when I get back!" Any hesitation on Li Yu's part would be an insult to money, and he was currently in desperate need of it.
Setting up a magic circle didn't require him to provide any materials himself; he could earn a huge sum just by going over and lending a hand.
How could Li Yu refuse such a thing? Furthermore, he made up his mind to study this subject thoroughly once he got back and learn a few more types of Position Magic while he was at it.
Position Magic didn't require one to have immense magical power; what it required was mastery over the magic circle and the ability to draw it out.
Drawing a magic circle was the hardest part because you couldn't just copy it blindly; you had to adjust it according to the local environment. To put it in more metaphysical terms, you had to adjust it based on the local feng shui.
Otherwise, if you just drew it by rote, it wouldn't have any effect at all. Position Magic was a major discipline, which was why setting these things up was quite difficult.
After the two of them settled these matters, a group of people suddenly arrived on the scene, pausing in surprise when they saw the situation in the clearing.
Seeing this group, both Li Yu and Asuna looked over. They noticed the badges on their uniforms—it was a Patrol Squad.
"Greetings. Did you two kill these Goblins?" The leader stepped forward to question them.
"Yes. We came here because of that Minotaur and discovered them," Li Yu quickly explained the situation.
Hearing this, the group understood immediately. After glancing at the state of the Goblins, the leader spoke again, "You look like students. Head back early and don't wander around anymore."
He gave them a brief warning before ordering his men to clean up the aftermath. Li Yu and Asuna exchanged a glance and immediately turned to leave.
Passing by the battlefield where the Minotaur had been, they saw that the beast had already been slain, and the Patrol Squad was clearing the area.
It had to be said, they were truly fast. It hadn't been long since they finished off the Goblins, and things were already wrapped up here.
"Time to go home. Do you live around here too?" Li Yu couldn't help but ask Asuna as they walked toward the exit.
Upon hearing this, Asuna pointed in a certain direction and said, "In the apartment complex over there. Does Li Yu live around here as well?"
She did indeed live in the vicinity, and once she said that, Li Yu understood exactly which place she meant.
"That high-end apartment? I see. Well, that's that then; we're heading in different directions!" Li Yu said before heading off toward a different path.
"See you at school!" Seeing this, Asuna didn't say anything else. After bidding Li Yu farewell, she headed toward her own residence.
On his way back, Li Yu activated his Presence Concealment again and returned to his home shortly after.
Once inside, Li Yu rinsed the magic stones with water and set them aside. Once he gathered the rest of the materials tomorrow, he would be able to set up the magic circle.
It was late now, so it was too late to go out and buy materials. Besides, he had school tomorrow, so he wasn't in a rush.
After finishing these tasks, Li Yu washed up, dried his hair, and lay down on his bed, pulling out his phone to search for the pricing of Position Magic services.
He was glad he did; his eyes lit up as he saw that just helping someone set up a magic circle started at ten thousand.
Moreover, the status of a Formation Mage in this world seemed quite high—was it because it was hard to learn? Thinking of this, Li Yu felt delighted; for him, that wasn't an issue at all.
Li Yu browsed for a while, then began searching for books on Position Magic to download onto his phone.
Once the downloads were complete, Li Yu tried turning on the text-to-speech mode, set it to triple speed, and placed the phone to the side.
He wanted to see if he could learn just by listening. If he could... then Li Yu would be in for a treat.
With this thought in mind, he plugged his phone in to charge and lay down to sleep.
He silently began to circulate the meditation technique he had learned today, and before long, Li Yu's breathing steadied as he gradually drifted off to sleep.
The night passed without incident, and time blinked forward to the next day. Li Yu opened his eyes, feeling refreshed, and the first thing he did was check his current state.
After a night of meditation, he felt full of energy. Furthermore, his mind was filled with a wealth of new knowledge; all the information from the phone's audio playback last night was now clearly etched into his memory.
This made Li Yu's eyes brighten; his understanding of Position Magic had taken a significant step forward.
Although Li Yu had clearly memorized the magic circle from school and knew how to set it up, he hadn't actually understood much of the underlying principles.
He had only known how to set up that one specific circle, but after a night of study, he understood much more.
Li Yu washed up and headed to school; he would deal with buying the materials in the evening.
He bought breakfast on the way and arrived at school quickly. The patrols on the road were still the same as yesterday.
It seemed the matter hadn't been completely resolved yet, otherwise, the Patrol Squad wouldn't still be on such high alert.
Walking into the school, Li Yu made his way to his classroom with practiced ease. Asuna was already sitting at her desk; this girl really arrived early.
