Background / History

Xun'er is a young lady of the Ancient Clan who comes to reside with the Xiao Clan. Her father, Gu Yuan, placed the seed of the Golden Emperor Incinerating Heaven Flame within her body to forge an acquired fire-attribute physique, forcing her to endure the flame's agony every night. Her mission at the Xiao Clan is connected to locating fragments of the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade. 3 27

Upon arriving at the Xiao Clan, she is aloof toward the other children, ignoring Xiao Ning’s attempt to court her. She instead approaches Xiao Yuan after hearing his inner thoughts, which reveal knowledge of her identity, family, and the Ancient Eight Clans. His irreverent thoughts intrigue her, and she begins paying close attention to him. 2

When the Golden Emperor Incinerating Heaven Flame tortures her shortly after her arrival, Xun'er attempts to keep Xiao Yuan away to preserve her privacy. He enters despite the danger and uses his Innate Fire Spirit Body to help her suppress and control the flame. By morning, she can command it as naturally as an extension of herself; the act becomes the foundation of her profound debt and attachment to him. 4

Over the following decade, Xun'er remains close to Xiao Yuan and learns through his inner voice that she is supposedly fated to become Xiao Yan’s wife. She rejects the idea that her life must follow a predetermined story, choosing her own feelings and future instead. 6
